i have a hard time putting a text on path because everytime i move the cursor which is in the mode of type tool..there is no changes happening..please help me
@jonjonburo As long as you have a path made with the pen tool and in the options bar you choose the second icon over it will work. When you take the type tool close to the beginning of the path it should slightly change the cursor.
@KissBiebs It does work in PS7. Once you get your path drawn with the pen tool and change to the text tool, you need to make sure the cursor changes when you hover over the path.
@GrotesqueKevin It's a little tricky. After you create the path with the pen tool, select the text tool. Look closely at the I bar. It turns from an I-bar with a box to an I-bar with a small dotted line when you hover over the path. When it turns to the I-bar with the dotted line, click on the path and it will let you type in text.
I'm struggling with the very same problem. The cursor does not change no matter what I try. It looks like you gave Kevin the awnser. Could you explain the trick to me too?
@ischrieken Make sure that you have the second icon selected in the option bar. After you make your path, make sure you don't click anything except the horizontal text tool. You may want to zoom into your picture using cmd/ctrl + then move the cursor on top of your path.
@c130bulldawg Doesn't seem to work... By second icon in the option bar you mean the paths button right? I've read here and there that writing on a path doesn't work in PS7.0.
@jonjonburo Wow. I've tried many times with different versions of Photoshop and they all work. I cannot get it to fail. In the options bar at the top do you have the second icon in the group of three selected and the first icon in the group of eight selected? See 0:14 seconds into the video.
Thanks. When you choose the direct selection tool in the toolbar and are moving the text, instead of moving left and right, pull down and it will flip to the other side of the path.
The ctrl-g was replace in newer versions of Photoshop. you must hold the alt key down then click between the two layers. The name also changed from group with previous to clipping mask.
Adobe has changed the command and suggests holding the alt or option (Mac) key down and with the mouse, clicking the line in between the text layer and the layer above.
For this tutorial I used iShowU for Mac. Ripple was one of the click options. If you Google shinywhitebox, you can find iShowU. It is a great deal if you purchase the bundle with Stomp.

Photoshop has improved my cartoon skills no end. I plan to do a 45 page comic and post it online. I'd love to do a slide show n upload it.
