Harmonic drive, cycloid, worm gear, planetary gear (with brakes).
Those are the ones i know. Look on wiki for more info.
Harmonic drive is by far the most ingenious of them all.

Absolutly amazing machining. I'm a machinist myself. I'm a precision stock cutter at the band saw. I cut bar stock not tenths, I work in millionths when it comes to cutting stock for the fucking lathe hand.
