Liberty City (Portland) IS REALLY IN THE GAME. It's in a mission called Saint Mark's Bistro. To get in it without doing the mission, watch this video: /watch?v=vWNfK8JWjPQ. IT ISN'T A MOD OR HACK. It's an interior that Rockstar put in for the sake of the mission.

Actually, I heard that R* originally made a mission where you have to chase a guy around in Liberty City, but it was then removed, maybe that's why there's more detail than needed?

did you know that when you do the mission when you go to L.C you can explore in more detail. when you are in the garden dont kill any one and go round the corner and jump over the wall (you may need the high jump cheat) and your are ready to explore L.C

lol, I went in Liberty City in that mission with the flying in Liberty and I explored it. You can go max 200m ans you will fall of the Liberty City=))

Why did'nt you go to the callenhan(forgot how its spelled) bridge? You could have go to Stauton Island and maybe Shore Sideville.

Well since they only put the city in for this one mission in San Andreas they only put the chunk of Portland they really needed for the sake of disk space. Thats why going far away from the Marco Bistro makes the land and objects highly undetailed, and unsolid.

@Dinglemaniac But actually, there's more of Portland in this game that is needed for the mission. All that's really needed is the road of Marco Bistro (the road shown in the cutscene), other buildings and objects on that road and just the first intersection. In other words, only what you can see in the cutscene of the mission and during the mission is needed, anything behind, above or what is not visible from the mission isn't required. I wonder why R* still included this in the game.

They put it because of the movie The Introduction where they show a part of CJ's life in Liberty City and because of the mission Saint Mark's Bistro

they created all of it so that the scenery of the opening scene could be viewd because any animation glitches would leave a lot of the backround out

@GTAFreak05 Although many people say that the outer limits of the city were used for "The Introduction", this has been proven wrong, because Liberty City in The Introduction is far more detailed than this. However, hidden game code proves that Rockstar created a 100% accessible Liberty City for GTA: San Andreas, but it is unknown why they chose to remove it and replace it with this.
