Yes - that was an amazingly intimate, revealing thing to a) observe b) articulate. To me, it sort of proves or illustrates one of the most striking aspects of your work: that ability to transmute, to osmose so smoothly through that infinitely thin membrane that separates man from his surrounding environment. You go from intracellular 'awareness' to the megaliths of body, earth, universe as easily as a baby opens its eyes. Bravissimo!!!!
Sinking lower as the sun climbs higher. Ooops. Spoiler alert! Have watched it over and over, and it's still just as arresting. Your hungry public waits patiently for more Garisms.
... that's cool. Its meant to be a more suggestive thing rather than a prescriptive one and judging by the responses below hopefully you'll get a feel for what its meant for others and what it could mean for you. You'll notice the actual shadow of the landmass slowly sinking. In a way its asking something about what does all that earnest rushing - our conditioned behaviours - matter or mean when we don't even see that the whole ship is sinking???
Oooooh the tension...the tremor...the suspense...the wait. This is a very stimulating piece of art, which holds you captive for just slightly over one minute. But the after-effects resound in your mind for much longer, just like a heartbeat. Thank you again, Gary, for sensational entertainment.
when I first saw the movie I thought about the viewer... is he afraid to go near the waiting person? the heartbeat (like anna said is it his?? or from the viewer??)
... I suppose there is an implied individual transition from existing in the momentum of the "rushings", towards an understanding of "reality", which is linked so strongly to some earned perspective. It takes a lot, does it not, to stop and question, when all around are sold on those very rushings.
I would like to quote a young lady, katieoranda, who has left a message below. On top of her channel she writes:
Excellent! THE SOUND! at first it sounded like my ms courseing through my body, then again, it was the sound of our earth, raw nerves under the groan of every new birth...But still, the steady heartbeat of life goes on...gg - keep it up
fantastic! for a moment a saw myself standing there, just waiting.... mabe for something or someone..but just waiting patiently, and feeling sad and tired and excited all at the same time...and then it happened..life as we know it, it just happens so quickly and yet so slow almost like life is standing there waiting for us!........katie
wow I totally agree with Anna I just had the same questions coming up. The first time I've seen it, it was a little mysterious, but then my point of view changed and those questions came up. Really cool, dude!
Stunning. A two-hour film noir compressed into a 1.01 minute film noir in sepia. The traffic screams and begins to sound human. That man. The hearbeat - is it yours, the viewer's...the man's??? Who is he waiting for? What has he done? Damit man, this is so uber-existential that it defies description. Don't know when the next big film fest for shorts is, but THIS ONE needs to be an official entry!!!!!
Excellent job! Sorry I never read my messages. You sent this some time ago! Keep on filming and sending me your stuff!

The wait of the person, combined with the tension of the heart beat made it.. Captivating. Fantastic, once more. (:

A really nice work.
A poet is just one who sees what anybody else use to see.
The use of shadows is a photograph view or just the poet missed in Sydney reality?
Favorited.

... what does it matter or mean to rush left or right, when the whole thing is sinking - watch the shadow fall.
Thank you for openly sharing your thoughts Katie.
