You likely know this by now, but spiders will spawn with that configuration (signs are treated as spawnable regions for the sake of spawning). With no way to fall down, you'll gradually fill your mob cap with a spider army that doesn't go anywhere.

I made this exactly the way you said in your tutorial and I have spiders spawning inside. I have triple checked that there are no 2x1 spots for them to spawn on yet they still spawn. Was this rule changed?

Tested this using stone buttons instead of signs and they work the same. Takes a hell of a lot less time too. Great design though, really pumps out the mobs :D.

I thought of making a monster killing farm with usage of pistons.

There would be a lot of spawning rooms and just one killing machine and there would be pistons blocking off water. Every like 15 secs it would send water to all of the rooms washing all the mobs spawned there down at the same time to one killing machine.. It might be slower... but it would be cool maybe?..

what works even better on this farm then signs is redstone torches. I used them on this exact design and they dony give off enough light level so that mobs cant spawn but still act as a block and there stackable!!!

I'm trying with a 2x2 grid with a cactus fence to kill spiders, but putting so many signs takes for forever, since they cost a lot of mats and can't be stacked. Is there any alternative?

Nice idea but no need to put in on hard because it just increases how many hits it takes to kill the MOD. Easy would be best in th case.

@UberFair thats good, string is almost useless, the only good thing about string is that you can make wool and fishing poles with it... (yes I know you can make bows, but you only need 1 bow, don't you?)

Great idea Datadude! I am soo going to do a mobfarm just like this one (working on a huge cactus farm atm to, inspired by yours).

But how about some dimensions? How many blocks from under the chess board to the water flowing and how many blocks above the chess board untill the next layer? And what are the dimensions X x Y on those rooms? Or perhaps you got a link where I can read further on how to make a mob farm like this? :) Thanks again for a great video!

@Deki0724 x2 space under the bord so the mob just fits and 3 hight for the room before starting on next layer...i got 3 how to vids allready on my pc just have not uploaded them just yet i will get around to doing it soon sorry and i will make a 4th how to on this new system aswell
