  • Nice lap. Imagine this car on slicks

  • very clean driver

  • Its so wierd watching Webber go down the Abby straight and theres just grass on the right side. Smooth driving also :)

  • 2nd in a relatively uncompetitive Red Bull, pretty astounding.

  • I was on another internet page when this video ended the first time I watched it, and when the transmission beeping started, I initially thought it was Mark swearing at how good a lap he'd just done haha

  • Knows his way around Silverstone, Webbo. Hope he cleans up this weekend.

  • @muddwell

    indeed!

  • 1:01 awesome slide. Man these f1 guys can drive. Powersliding at whatever speed they're doing in a car with rigid suspension like. Need some super reflex and control.

  • Good lap Webber! XD

  • this lap was incredible, in that car to qualify 2nd

  • This Silverstone was so much better.

  • @RR1Joel i'm agree

  • beautiful quality

  • I was there that day. I was on the entry to the Hangar Straight. Even though I only went on the Saturday, that was the first GP I went to.

  • absolute on the limit!

  • once again, webber proves he's got more talent in his pinky finger than most of the grid. a top 5 driver, for sure.

  • I Miss These Old Cars =(

  • i think this is lap of the year 2008, i dont see any other qualifying lap stand out as much as this, he even has to correct the car from sliding at 1:00

  • on which position was red bull in construction i dont know i watn it to know xD

  • i gotta say red bull has come a very long way since 2008 O_O

  • Webber absolutely OWNED the RB4 on this lap. The best drivers can make a good car great, this is an example.

  • Gotta love webber. He is great!

  • what an awesome lap!

  • wow @ 1:01. car control

  • great slide at 1:02sec.

  • Quite good to learn the track for rFactor

  • 1:01 oversteer and good reaction ;]

  • @95mar F1 2009 for the Wii sucks.

    =)

  • dont give explosiveface a thumbs down, the wii version sucks, cant wait for the ps3 version of the next f1 game

  • @ExplosiveFace I couldnt tell the difference between the game and reality so at least the graphics are awesome.

  • really!?!?! good god, thats just like the real thing!!!! oh hang on......

  • That is awesome! I would so love to be the one in the cockpit of that Red Bull! :)

  • The RBR had no speed due to the rubbish Renault engine..STR nailed it though with the Ferrari lupm. It was a great combo..proved that the car itself was fast and good in aerodynamics..

  • the "rubbish" renault engine was just used as a scape goat, in reality with the current engine freeze that is in place, the biggest difference between the engines in performance was 2% and that was between the merc and toyota engines.

  • Just look at times where engines werent important. Specific tracks. RBR and Renault themselves were immediately more competitive.

Webber himself stated that when he tested the STR it was like day and night comapred to his RBR. So, the engine was to blame mostly.

  • 2% is a lot of performance to give up!!

I'm read somewhere that difference in engine power will be about 3 tenths or more slower per lap

  • im not saying it wasn't alot to give up just that it wasn't the main reason for RBR not being more competitive, just look at this season RBR probably had the best car by the end of the season and won the last three races with the renault engine yet torro rosso, with the same car, barely finished in the points with the more powerful ferrari.

  • @3214342 BS, they are fast now :S

  • @sdimm Now is 2010, this is from 2008. Consider that.

  • Webber is still one of the best.

  • @scapache

    I agree with you totally,

he is still one of the WORST of the best between drivers in best cars.

  • @5950ziel LOL

  • @jraybay

    Something wrong ?

  • @5950ziel I lol'd at your comment.

  • @scapache What? He was never considered the best at anything until 2010.

  • @scapache He is like 10 kg heavier than Vettel. This could be a hindrance to him.

  • @daniel987878 It also means that Vettel has to have a car 10kg heavier than Mark's; don't forget

  • @raymondu99 No, no, no - it means Vettel has a car with 10Kg more ballast to play with. The cars all have minimum weights well above what the actual car + driver weighs, but engineers still try to save as much weight as possible in the design of the chassis to give them more ballast to play with. The ballast helps to balance the car by influencing weight distribution and thus it does give Vettel an advantage over Webber. Ballast also gives the car a lower CenterOfGravity than 10Kg of person.

  • @Wibbahh I was counting the ballast as part of "the car."

Also Vettel doesn't have more than Mark to play with in terms of ballast. That was true in 2009 and 2010; but since 2011 there is only a 7KG window to move around in terms of weight distribution. The cars are light enough that Webber still has that 7KG; and though Seb could theoretically move more ballast around; he's rule-limited to 7.

The only advantage Seb has now in terms of being lighter is lower-placed ballast for a lower CofG.

  • @raymondu99 I apologise for the lecture, I didn't know about the new ballast rules. The COG penalty would probably be very small as Webber sits lower in the car than Vettel I believe. The only other theoretical disadvantage for Webber would come from increased body roll as a heavier driver flopping around in the cockpit would upset the car more - but the drivers are so tightly strapped in that this too wouldn't have any impact. There is the 46:54 weight distribution rule as well. Egg on face

  • @Wibbahh It's hard to say. Unless we can get a proper cross-sectional view of exactly how both Webber and Vettel sit; then we wouldn't know much about the CofG differences. The 46:54 distribution isn't really as such - basically you have to have 291kg over the front axle; and 342kg over the rear axle. That leaves 7kg (which I said above) for weight distribution.
