@AnytimeMagic if I may here... Just because Percy's a right prat for leaving, doesn't mean he should have died. Regardless, the Weasley family would still be grieving. Don't get me wrong, but that was my first thought too "why couldn't it have been Percy?" but I think that no matter who was lost, The Weasley's would still be grieving. Sorry, Nerd moment. @j2theferg I agree with you only partially because you are missing an important point: it's not about The Weasley's grieving, it's about fans grieving after Fred's death. Sure, the family would still feel devastated but at least fans wouldn't. :) Though I think Jo wanted to show us the reality of war, the importance of appreciating a person you love (there's a Polish poem, telling us to "Love people before it's too late: they're gone so quickly."). That's why it was Fred, not Percy, I think.
