I always why gilmour bought the first serial strat, as his next of kin will only flog it when he dies, that 001 strat is worth something like 2 million, well probably more, it's worth what someone is willing to pay, and something tells me they could have asked for 10 million and david would have still got it, claptons blackie went for £750 thousand, so now that gilmore has owned the 001 strat, well it be worth a lot more now
Serial # Plates on 54 Strats do not correspond to actual production. When the Guitar was finished, an employee would grab a plate out of the bucket. Actual production dates are based upon the penci date of the Neck and Tremolo Cavity.
Awesome. I have had the pleasure of playing a real 1954 Strat about 20 years ago. A friend had found it along with an old Tweed Deluxe amp. He called me down to a little corner club he was playing that evening before the show, and let me fire it up. I don't care what anyone has to say about Custom shop Fenders. I've played them as well. This guitar played and sounded like NOTHING I'd played before or since. This one sounds JUST like it. Awesome playing as well kid.
awesome sounding guitar, but nothing real special. i have a custom shop 50´s strat and it sounds similar to that original 54´s....it´s just the hype about it, ore there are really even better sounding ones, but this sound, is just a guitar sound
This guitar isn't one of the first, and certainly not within the first 200 made. The first 200 strats had the serial number pressed into tremolo cover NOT stamped into the neck plate, so this guitar is probably around the 250th made
OMG, she just OOZES tone. She's number 50, she's real, she's in BEAUTIFUL condition & is probably worth a good million. Gilmour paid 'an undisclosed sum' for #0001, however they're not the first Strats made, but the first to be given serials numbers, and some of the first custom colours.
Nice playing, he shouldn't be looking at the camera, he should be gripping onto it for dear LIFE! (she deserves to be looked after) Beautiful, just drop dead beautiful, they don't come any better than that!
@holomatrix Yer but u have to be fuck mad to pay that price for a fucking strat, U can get a better one from fenders master builders for 1% or less than that would cost, why pay a million pound for something that's sounds not as good as a new en, the old ones don't sound better & anyone that say's they do is talking gibberish, your paying for it's age, which to me is fine if you are a collector, but if u plan on playing it, well that is pointless, as a new 1 is even better especially the neck
