  • Thumbs up for classic TF2. :)

  • or for an upgrade

+ gunslinger = +25 HP + faster builded sentry + cheaper metal cost sentry + faster atack speed sentry (somewhere between sentry lv 1 and lv 2) + -2 dmg sentry bullets...

but look at other stats given ;]

  • I assume this is what inspired the gunslinger?

  • I think the tips here work better now that the engi can use a minisentry, since it costs less and builds faster. And it can't be repaired, so it's even more expendable than the regular sentry.

  • I'm usually the vindictive little bastard that will make it my mission to wreck your shit!

  • mmmm i like it to see a good tf2 video and listen to cowboy bebop music^^

  • It helps a lot to use the jag, builds sentries faster

  • 1:31 I also know how to do it. Also works with teleporters, so I'm most of the time the only engie in team that won't set an exit infront of wall.

  • @Kosa1229 or use the gunslinger

  • I know how to rotate...

DUDE STOP CALLING ME STUPID, DUMB AND IDIOT

  • actually, offensive=level 1

    defensive=level 3

  • Y U NO UPGRADE UR SENTREE?!?!?!?

  • Lol bullets became boolets haha.

  • ive cknow how to rotate sentry too....

ive just wanna cknow whats happen if i press right click whit a building in my hand....

but if not single who cknow how to rotate give me thumbs up and to video too... ^_^

  • i use the combo Gunslinger + Wrangler. that's awsome.

  • @neji2401 +frontier justice, you can own a map as an offensive engineer, it is one of the most fun classes in the game, i constantly drop sentries let them explode, get criticals, create another fast sentry a few meters from where they killed the last one...

  • 1:32 You are not alone.

  • this is why the gunslinger was invented :D

  • upgrade it

  • The JAG is your savior!

  • dude ur awesome thx

  • tip:use gunslinger,its better in offence,defence use normal or other's

  • Comment removed

  • I use the Gunslinger and boy, is that fun :D

Drop a sentry and start killing. A soldier comes by and starts shooting at your sentry. You give it to him with your shotgun a few times and run... He WILL follow you. But you already have another sentry up behind the corner. BLAMBLAM kills+1 :)

  • no jag? :D

great vid and btw, I top fastlane everytime I play as defensive, it's pretty effective if the pyros check frequently.

  • THANK U SO MUCH, i used to be bored of sitting behing my sentrys but now i go super offensie and get sooooo many kills!! THANK U

  • Hitman music <3

  • you forgot about mingling with fellow engies. Upgrade their shit and they'll do the same to you.

  • omg get to the enemy base and kill em whit mini sentry

  • @MrZiga13 Juts look at the date when the video is added...

  • I tried this....

looks like i'll have to fuck you?

  • I like to use a random voice command when I'm putting a sentry down so he doesn't say "Building a sentry" :)

  • When i do some attack engineering i take the gunslinger and the frontier justice :D

mini sentries = a few kills, then destroyed

    frontier = crits ! :D

  • Kick ass video. really helped me realize what a smart engie is supposed to do rather building lvl 3 sentry + dispenser + tele all in one damn spot so a denoman can come along and blow the thing to hell in two seconds.

  • @Vizaru if you actually needed this bullshitty video to teach you how to be an engineer, you've never played the god damn class. you're an idiot and so are the 18 people that liked your dumbass comment. this video is an insult to anyone who watches it.

  • @lemonstriker dude, cool it, that comment was 5 months ago. it was the first week of me playing tf2; of course i was a shitty engineer. we were all noobs once, so dont be such a douche bag every time you see one.

No one knows everything. like how im really good at math, and im sure a lot better than you. does that make me smarter than you? no, not necessarily (but given your ass-hole comment i probably am) it just means i happen to be good at some things, and your good at others.

  • shit this vid is making me wanna play tf2 and hitman... and I can't play both at the same time, lol.

  • This isn't offensive engie, this is just engie. You are considering the super defensive wrench-only engie as the standard... Offense engie didn't actually exist at the time you made the video, it wasn't really possible before mini-sentry. You basically were just playing engie.

  • problem is that lately alot of spies are around and (sometimes) even a good one, so there's the problem with aggresive engineer, even more so than defensive one.

  • Ha i like people who write essays v

  • Your thoughts on the Gunslinger?

  • @WaffleTheQueenz The Gunslinger only helps when surprise is in the equation. If you constantly put the mini-sentry in a place of power and in constant siege of attacks then you will simply get overpowered by a heavy (big surprise). Deal more with surprise and CONSTANTLY move the sentry. For instance, on Turbine rotate the sentry in the corner of the intelligence floor and keep it there at the VERY beginning on the game, scouts seem to ignore it, might even get a solider, but humans adapt still.

  • @WaffleTheQueenz Only so much in 500. With the added idea of surprise for the mini-sentry, there is also the support idea that is greatly added with the Gunslinger. Many people think lowly of the mini-sentry- thinking that it's not the main threat, but not looked after the mini-sentry can deal great damage and can lower health for your teammate's targets. If the enemy ignores the mini-sentry than it is a great threat and is also a smaller target to hit. One more to go and then I am done.

  • @WaffleTheQueenz Last comment- Now the mini-sentry is very weak and can only take so much, hell, scouts can take them down even (though some don't know that). Just because the sentry gets killed doesn't mean you are dead, retreat and make another (just takes a second). Most won't expect another after it being just killed- the newer shotgun is great for this what with revenge crits, as well. With the new shotgun along with the gunslinger- you are a new type of engineer, make use of it.

  • Wow thanks for this tips. I honestly enjoy playing offensive engie more now.

  • Great tutorial ;)! but I have one question is for offensive engi better Fast building mini-sentry or normal sentry? the mini is faster builded but has lower hp and lower dmg and u can't repair it

  • hitman BM music :D

  • @warzyxx yep

  • 6:18 is hilarious!

  • should i use my jag and Frontier Justice ?

  • @MrNippelTippel the jag doesent do too much better than the normal wrench and i love the frontier Justis but only if it has crits

  • Hitman Blood Money music. :)

  • Ah, so this is what the gunslinger is for.

  • 60 fatties ate the goddamn sentry

  • "They'll make it their mission to wreck your shit."

And the award for understatements goes to....

  • but wouldn't you be a bigger dick with your sentry if you had gunslinger + wrangler + frontier justice combo? i currently have gunslinger + frontier justice and it works damn well for a combat oriented engineer. gunslinger builds in a mere 2.5 seconds, giving you extra time to build a level 1 dispenser for support. then when i feel my sentry has racked up enough kills & is low on health, i blow it up, put a new one and enjoy my free crits. big dicks are awesum sauce.

  • @MackerelAssasin Lol, that's exactly what I do. Though how well you do as an offensive engineer depends almost entirely on how well the rest of your team does. It's a cooperative effort. You need your team to distract your foes so that your sentry can get enough hits, while also needing them to push forward to protect your buildings. And many other things.

  • boolets

  • How do you get the gunslinger?

  • @GenChico9995 achievement or drop

  • one time I ran into a sentry thinking it was mine.....I got shot.

  • aww you hurt the sentrys feeling

  • youre forgeting a very important rule about special move in tf2...

    tricks only work once

  • @void735 Not true. Tricks only work once when your team is worthless, or you use gimmicky tricks. Offensive engineering is all about putting your gun where your team is, meaning that any serious effort to remove your gun is countered by the fact that your team is shooting at the enemy.

  • @SBFloppie that you team will be worthless is usually a norm for me, and the thing is you will most liklay not kill the same person with your trick. perhaps twice if you do get help but hif hes skilled enught he will be prepared for it

  • @void735 I bring my own team (4-5 people usually) so I don't usually have that problem. Basically, I set my guns up where the enemy can't proceed without destroying them, and can't destroy them without giving up cover. This sets them up to die to sniper fire, sticky traps, and overwhelming fire from my team. If they focus on killing my gun, they *usually* get caught by the team. It also helps that our scout with a FAN knocks them out in front of the guns a lot :D

  • @void735 its a funktioning strategy i sopuse. but it comes down to skill in eiter way, when it comes to sentrys its all about Reaction time, analyse, and wisdom. so im just sayin faceing a player with high avrege experience the trick should not work to long, even if you constantly move sentry around mostly it comes down to realism, same as to say a spy could randomly back stab you as you move around it. everything that have a possibility to happen must never be ignored in tf2. :)

  • hey man thanks for the tips!! i haven't played engineer yet but i feel im gonna be a pro with those tips!!!

  • should get a new vid about the * new * offensive engineer, with the new stuff like the mini-quickbuild-sentry.

so far my record is to demoninate 6 people and build my sentry 15 times in 1 game, and died like 4 times. And the funny part i got chased by 3 people for revenge and they were even typing all kinda shit about my sentry :P ah yeah i felt the love for sentry's there

And a good tip, hide ya dispenser further away ( around a corner not to close ), and pick up fallen weps for materials ^,^

  • I completely agree with your opening sentiment that aggressive play is much more fun

  • Gunslinger + Frontier Justice = Awesome Offense.

I use my mini-sentries a lot but I purposely let them die so I can use the Revenge Crits for Frontier Justice. Works well.

  • sentry arent disposable tool !

they are our friend ! :(

  • @QCmaxthebeast so? we need to treat them as companions like the turrets at portal 2?

  • @QCmaxthebeast so? we need to treat them as companions like the turrets at portal 2?

  • @billthedestoryer ever kicked a turrets ?

    it's sad. :(

  • /watch?v=3rEJ7a29KUA hope ya'll enjoy :P

  • very good guide!

  • good guide for beginning battle engies, your hit the nail on the head surprise is paramount to success.

  • you're so good with the shot gun... how?

  • youd don't upgrade your sentry's?

  • The music reminds me of Final Fantasy X in some respect. I guess. Maybe?

  • Where did you place your sentry @ 3:57 (2fort)

  • This video was before the quick draw robotic arm came, I think. That fast-building mini sentry is the bomb when playing aggressive : rack up kills (help with your shotty/gun ; no wrangler!!) and when they get destroy, get free crits with the Frontier Justice.

This is quite sporty, but if you get this technique right and have at least another engie in your team with regular sent, you'll both prove invaluable to your team's effort :)

  • Love the Hitman 5 soundtrack. Favved!

  • i would subscribe if you did more videos :I

  • That's all great and stuff, but... How do you rotate your sentry ? :D

  • @Stf0u right click while choosing the spot :)

  • That's a great video! Trying out your tactic will be fun.

  • Please make another video as soon as you can =*(

  • When Brink comes out TF2 will become irrelevant.

  • lol boolets its spelled bullets XD

  • lol i know u can rotate a sentry so ur not alone buddy

  • Hitman Blood money music

  • Play like this now with a Frontier Justice equipped, and dohoho, they'll be eating your rampaging Critical shot's dildo

  • How to piss off your teammates as a engineer:

    Equip Gunslinger

    Equip Standard Shotgun

    Equip Pistol

Engage in head to head combat.

    Profit.

  • good video but, what video editing software do you use?

  • Yeah, Gunslinger was MADE for the Frontier Justice. It allows you to rack up tons of crits to shooot your enemy in the face, and it does considerable damage with a smart mind and right placement.

  • lol never considered using the sentry this way for a lot of time.

  • I love the new engineer weapons, although the mini-sentries might seem to weak to bother with at first. But for engies with the frontier justice and wrangler they work great. The minis are surprisingly powerful, just watch your back and keep moving. And when your sentry eventually gets destroyed....lots of free crits. Theres a lot of great pointers in this video that apply to the new weapons as well.

TL;DR - Build annoying sentries everywhere.... get crits..... shoot enemy in face.

  • I knew how to rotate buildings before watching this video.

  • @MarioishBeast yah me too! i wondered how ppl done that but then i accidently pressed rmb instead of lmb :D and i saw it :D mwahahahaha

    PS:im playing non-steam with botzz :D online suck (cuz i suck :D)

  • @runelt99

    Your mouth is really big.

    Flies might go in.

  • @youtabeer why'd you said it just now??? i got tons of flies here

  • So much fun watching your video. Also love the way you talk. You're awesome dude. Oh and I learn a lot of fun stuffs :)

  • I'm a noob and everything you wrote massively insulted me... lol

  • Even after my own known knowledge, this video has, and always will be my favorite tutorial on playing offensively as an Engineer :D

  • 56 engineers couldn't play offense

  • Couple of personal tips

1: Pistol is more effective than shotgun at anything other than very close range. It's accurate enough to consistently get headshots at medium range if you can aim at moving targets.

2: You need to play more like a pyro, your sentry is bait and your enemy will focus on it, you can use these opportunities to ambush your enemies and surprise them with a wrench or point-blank shotgun.

3: The gunslinger is incredibly effective at abusing lvl 1 sentries.

  • @Mashermat

Yes, I do know that this was done before the gunslinger existed.

  • Best Sentry-spots are near health kits near enemy, when the enemy is hurt, they run straight into the sentry and though they are already hurt :P

  • LOL I think the update is good for u?

U can pick up sentrys, U can place minisentrys(less metal faster building)

  • "that's right, eat the goddamn sentry, fatty"

    best quote (:

  • my god you must have jizzed your pants when the engy update came out

  • i like how this guy is to the point, no nice language, jus "hanging around wif a dick in ur hand'

  • This reminds me of the time when I wanted to be Spy, but I couldn't, so I chose Sniper (a class I really hate) and used only my machete/kukri. I called it the Spyper. It was great fun; I got about 40 kills, tried to be as stealthy as possible, got a kill streak of 7 and my proudest moment as a Spyper was when I managed to take down a medic/heavy combo. It's times like those that make me really want to get a capture card or something.

  • I've noticed the engineer's shotgun also has a predictable spread pattern: a perfect 3x3 pattern. All other shotguns are more random, so the engineer's is actually fairly accurate at long range.

  • @ZombieZephyr Actually, that's only on some servers. This depends on the server var "tf_use_fixed_weaponspreads" - if this is set to "1", you get that 3x3 pattern. If it is set to "0", pellet direction is completely random. Go ahead and start up a listen server to see for yourself, you can change the setting's value in console.

  • Dont worry about being the only engie that knows the right click, I feel ya.

    QUOTE:

Newbag: OMFG, HOW DID YOU DO THAT, HAX HAX HAX!

    Me: Right click

Newbag: ITS NOT, YOU CANT DO THAT, NOOB HAXXOR EVERYOEN VOTEKICK HIM

    Me: *Facepalm*

Server:*Kicks newbag for micspam, then me for haxxing.*

    Me: Again, facepalm.

As you can see, It sux brix.

  • do u like the mini sentry?

  • 'don't just sit there with your dick in your hand' rofl. U r hilarious.

  • "Just Judge The Situation. Don't Be Afraid To Take A Little Risk."

  • thumbs up for hitman music!

  • The Gunslinger compliments this style now perfectly IMO.

If only you could repair mini-sentries.

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr will you make a new guide for wrangler gunslinger southern hospitality and fronteir justice?

  • The gunslinger makes sentries a lot less of a pain in the ass, plus th extra health makes playing like this perfectly

  • This is so fun on 2fort with the Gunslinger. I get like 20 kills a life by building next to their base/in the water and shotgunning+sentrying people. You are a sexy person.

  • In my opinion, the new Engie update was made for offensive Engies. Look at this:

    - Frontier Justice for a little extra firepower boost when your stuff gets sploded. Which it will.

-Ability to move existing buildings (GOTTAM) to keep up with the front line.

-Gunslinger with extra health, better damage than the wrench, a badass tauntkill, and minisentries which you can throw up anywhere quickly, even during combat if you're lucky.

Yep, would ya look at that.

  • these strategies plus GUNSLINGER equals straight upgrade.

  • How to play offensive engineer:

    Step 1: Use Gunslinger

    Step 2: ???

    Step 3: Profit!

  • this is best with the gun slinger

  • I'm so glad there are other people who have this view!

The sneaky sentry always wins. And the new Gunslinger fits your playstyle perfectly.

  • oh man i can't play tf2 any more becuz of an error some one help me please D:

wen i try to start tf2 or steam shows that says=

Steam.exe (main exception): CMultiFieldBlob(pSerialized):Bad field - extends past

    end of blob

  • @runescapelololol I would try uninstalling and installing again if I was you.

  • @runescapelololol Try reinstalling your blob.

  • Lol, Your name is benhurrrrrrr

  • The mini-sntry is perfect for offensive engeneer play

  • Good video, but I can't help thinking that the basic shotgun did more damage back when you made this. I never manage to get kills with just a couple of shots. Only the FAN up close seems to get such quick kills for me.

  • Offensive engineering is made easier with the Engineer update, now we can move or sentries from defense to offense

I mostly build a sentry away from the front line and when it's level 3 i move it further into the battlefield

  • Is it just me or was the engineer more fun to play as before the update?

  • @WoodenZigzagoon I totally agree. With the Wrangler ruining the fun of the pistol. I still use all of the Engie standards. And I like my clips higher for shotgun.

And the gunslinger combat mini sentry made offense engi feel akward...

  • Man with the engi update... mini sentry... movable buildings.... it's ENGI HEAVEN until they fix this over-ubering, i'm having so much fun at pwnin everyone

  • I usually dont use mini sentry for ambushes because it has such a low firepower. It works well when attacking with team on 5 cp maps (granary mid, badlands 2nd point)

  • the combat mini sentry works well for this, and for arena

  • shitty music

  • Very good, you started me off on offensive engineering :) , shud check out my updated tf2 engineer vid. Btw the gunslinger is 100 metal built in 2 secs. Use it as a disposable tool

  • The mini-sentry is purfect for your style of play. What with it's fast deployment and tiny profile.

  • lol at 1:30 about roatating your sentry... how could people not know that...

  • Thats why they made the robot arm

  • "Sooner or later people will realize where your sentry is"

    @gunteen8

this statement only helps the fact that if people avoid your sentry you can move it in the new patch. AWESOME

  • I did this with the new mini sentry, i managed to use the same one the entire round and we won, i just kept picking it up and dumping it somewhere new and then using your tactic of sentry + shotgun

  • +800 hours played but i still love watching videos like yours, spy techniques, how to play videos etc.. this game never gets old and im wondering what will happen now i mean 9 class updates valve cant add more.. because if they add more weapons the game will be like.. wow or something you have OVER 9000 weapons to choose i dont know maybe new class ? or tf3 ?

  • awesome that now you can just pick up your sentry and POOT SOMEWHERE ELSE :D

  • Maybe I should make a new video about the new engineer toys if I can be arsed.

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr DO IT DO IT DO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

  • @supergamecubedude how do you feel about engie update

  • @crowfaceltd im the happiest person about and i don't even have tf2 i swear ive watched every gameplay video of tf2 ever uploaded besides new one and love love love engie hes mah fav class and he finay gets some new toys >:D

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr That would be a great idea, to be honest.

I see a lot of engies using the mini sentry the wrong way, which is a shame, its a great tool.

32 DPS on top of your shotgun is deadly, and it builds up revenge crits for you too when the cute little thing reaches its demise ;D

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr Please, do. The new engie stuff now contradicts most of the things here, and makes the others easier.

  • @gunteen8 Well most of it is still valid, as far as sentry placement and weaponry goes. The biggest change in my eyes is that you can just pick up and move your fully upgraded stuff around, which really makes using and abusing level 1 sentries a bit less effective at times.

If I'm going to bother to make a new video, I'll wait for the engineering overflow to die down, as the engineer's usual playstyle and targets (scouts) are pretty much nonexistant right now.

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr Um so....will there be a strategy for all the weapons that have come out? Or will it be am extension of this one?

  • @flashmontage124 idk. If I'm making it, I'll probably just go over what the new stuff changes and what new opportunities it gives enginerds. Thing is, I made this video mostly for CP maps, but valve and most pubs play dustbowl and payload maps 90% of the time. Combat engineering isn't always very effective on those kind of maps.

Either way I'll wait for the update craze to die down first before I decide whether or not I'm making a new video.

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr Will you make a new video or not? =(

  • @haavar10

I was prett far along with the new video before I gave up on hatfortress 2: the hattening more than half a year ago. After more than three years, it's time to call it a day.

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr *cry*

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr u should man, specifically an offensive engineer one. i see too many ignorant people labelling the gunslinger as useless because they fail to use minisentries as a disposable tool

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr

    please do

  • @BenHurrrrrrrr C'mon,Ben ! Do the new update engi !

  • very naice
