  • great list except for i wouldve switched steve tyler with james hetfield and lars ulrich for neil peart.

  • Frontman: Layne

    Lead Guitarist: Jerry Cantrell

Back Up Vocals/Rhyme Guitarist: Kurt Cobain

    Bass: Krist Novoselic

    Drums: Dave Grohl

  • corgan should be - lead guitarist

    flea should be - bass

  • You can't compare fucking Grunge with bands like: Y&T, Gotthard, Tyketto, TeslaSteeheart, Whitesnake, Rainbow, to name a few...

Those bands are just awesome because of their music, not because they wear a teapot, because it's hip to wear a teapot!

  • metal all sounds the same except for a few ballads, kurt cobain over axl rose any day

  • grunge took the 90's and wiped out metal

  • I like both but of course the 80's are by far my favorite thing ever nothing compares.

  • morello and frusciante is a tie i think

  • 90s was hmmmmmm not that good but the 80s rules the world

  • hahahaha, how can u compare grunge shit with Heavy Fucking Metal!!!

  • Vocals/guitar: layne staley aic

    Lead guitar:tom morello rage

    Bass: flea rhcp

    Drums: Dave Grohl nirvana

    my personal favourite for 90's

  • i grew up in the 90's and it sucked . .the Music fucking blew . it was so depressive and pure fucking SHIT !

    80's - Van Halen . Maiden . Metallica . Megadeath , Guns n Roses . Motley Crue

    Enough Said

  • I agree man. I'm 17 right now and i fuckin wish i was born in 1968. then i would have been a teenager in the 80's.

  • geddy lee wins everything

  • omg its too hard but i have to say 90s bc i grew up in the 90s

  • where the fuck kurt cobain. he was one of the greatest songwriters/frontmen of all time. other than that good list.

  • The idea was this was going to be a real TV show where the money generated would go to the charities of the Supergroup members - so only living musicians were included in these Supergroups. They made me mute the music because of copyright issues.

  • Best Thrash Metal Supergroup EVER!!!

    Vocals: James Hetfield/Phil Anselmo

    Co-Lead Guitars: Kirk Hammett/Marty Friedman/Dimebag Darrell

    Rhythm Guitar: James Hetfield/Dave Mustaine

    Lead Bass: Cliff Burton

    Rhythm Bass: David Ellefson

    Drums: Dave Lombardo

Is it essentially a Metallica/Megadeth/Pantera hybrid with a splash of Slayer? Yeah! So?!

  • That's good but you need to cut it down.

    Vocals: James Hetfield

Guitar: Dave Mustaine & Dimebag Darrell

    Bass: Cliff Burton

    Drums: Dave Lombardo

  • The 90's killed off real rock.

  • agree,90's was shit,80's were badass!

  • 80's!!! Def Leppard (espiacally their first three albums, you have to love Hysteria too).

  • 80's,by far.

  • i love both era. but i grew up 90's era rock/alternative music guys.. but one of my favorite 80's is RANDY RHOADS R.I.P = ROCK IN PEACE>

  • whoo!!WHOOO

    80's was a joke dickuads

80s had NO SOUL. it was all about the image

80s was forcefully dominated by full of shit-no talented bands like

Metallica . Megadeath , Pantera, Guns N Roses , Motley Crue . Iron Maiden ,

    FUCK THE 80's

thats coming from a kid that grew up in the 90s

  • Haha, I laughed...Lars Ulrich for Drum...can you at least choose a talented drummer? The rest was good, but I though there was some weird combinations. Here's my list: 80's Metal Band: John Bush - Vocals Alex Skolnick - Lead Guitar Dave Mustaine - Rythim Guitar Billy Sheehan - Bass Neil Peart - Drums 90's Stoner Grunge Band: Eddie Vedder - Vocals Bob Balch - Lead Guitar Jerry Cantrell - Rythm Guitar Les Claypool - Bass Danny Carey - Drums
  • Thanks for the suggestions - make sure you vote for your favorites on the Supergroup website.

Also, I've got Neil Peart on another one of my Supergroup Battles - men vs women.

  • 80's band:

    Vocals- Joe Elliott

    Guitars- Stevie Ray Vaughn

    Guitars- Vivian Campbell

    Bass- Nikki Sixx

    Drums- Rikki Rokket

  • @nfsriffle Dave Grohl on Drums!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the 90s supergroup sucks....fuck that

    Vocals -Chris Cornell/Eddie Vedder/Laynestaley

    Guitar-Jerry Cantrell

    Guitar-Mike Mcready

    Drums-Sean Kinney

    Bass-mike inez

  • Your a Def Leppard fan and you wouldn't have Joe Elliott on lead vocals. Come on, he's the best.

  • 90's fucking TRASH !

    80's - Metallica . Megadeath , Pantera, Guns N Roses , Van Halen , Motley Crue . Iron Maiden ,

Enough Said . .Fuck Grundge . . and this coming from a kid that grew up in the 90's

  • Pantera's main era was in the 90s

  • 80's please! REAL ROCK! 90's was fucking emo music

  • what about oasis!!!

    they weren't emo's!!!!

  • KoRn blink 182 fucking disturbed slipknot....beat that

  • @ICjoshyC Ok I will..................THE BIG 4 OF FUCKING THRASH ANTHRAX, 80s METALLICA, MEGADETH AND FUCKING SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • 80's kicked 90 ass!!!! More technical and better players. Only with EVH they will win.

  • come on 80 wasn't only metal there was disco

  • This is more of a battle of generations - not genres - just hard rock music here.

  • with the chili peppers nirvana and rage against the machine, 90s kicked ass

  • hm. 90'sgot grunge, with went alternative rock and indie. the solos, and the real rock and roll went downhill. 80's rocked, so did the 70's

  • 80s killed 90s lol

  • dude i gotta say you only good choice for the 80s was geddy lee. Now if you were thinking you would have Geddy lee Niel Peart on drums cause come on he is amazing i was at the snakes and arrows tour wow blew my mind on his solo and then David Gilmore on Electric and singing. Then rick wakemen from yes hes an all around good writer. And metalica sucked worse than any band ive ever seen. Ozzy was ok and steven tyler was ok.

  • I do have Neil Peart on the Men Supergroup (vs Women Supergroup) which you can check out on the Supergroup website.

I plan on putting Gilmour on the next UK Supergroup (vs USA) which I will put on the Supergroup website. You can also vote for individual members on the Supergroup website.

  • you definatly picked the best 80's and 90's groups.

  • how come steven tyler and ozzy are on there

  • You can vote for your faves on the Supergroup website. Are you asking why do I have 2 vocalists? The concept of the TV show is the 80's and 90's Supergroup have to record an entire album in one week - so that's why I've got 6 people in each band - to increase the songwriting capability. On the Supergroup website, Joe Elliot and Robert Plant are leading the votes for metal vocalists. What do you think of them?

  • 90's sucked ass

  • lars ulrich??????? wtf??? he cant drum....

gar samuelson or Dave Lombardo or Nicko Mc Brain or Charlie Benante or Eric Carr. Ulrich is a good creative input but hes a shitty drummer..

  • I think Lars would be great on a TV show - from a ratings point of view.

  • Neil Pert on drums any day over lars ulrich???? Although you couldve just picked Rush as the Super Group Id pick Pert over the rest of the band

  • I put Neil Peart on my Men vs Women Supergroup, so I decided to not put him on the 80's 90's - especially because I already had Geddy Lee and didn't want 2 members from the same band. But you can vote for your faves on the Supergroup website.

  • this would be mine 1990s kobain vocals/ guitar slash? guitar Ghrol drummer Robert deleo bass cornell vovals billy corgan rhythem 80s eddie. steven tyler bon scott angus getty lee neil pert
  • Only living musicians (since this is for a real TV show) so no Cobain. I tried to limit it to 1 person from a group (everyone in Rush is Supergroup worthy). I've got an idea for Slash in a Supergroup (possibly controversial) - but for now you can vote for him on the website.

  • i think noel and liam gallagher shouls at least be up for the 90s one

  • If you go to the Supergroup website - you can vote for the Gallagher brothers for the UK Supergroup.

  • gotta have jerry cantrell on lead or layne staley singing not having aic members in grunge era supergroup is nuts

  • If you go to the Supergroup website - you can vote for 80's and 90's Supergroup members. I've got Sean Kinney (drums for Alice in Chains), Mike Inez (bass for Alice In Chains), and Jerry Cantrell (guitar for Alice in Chains) on there. (Only living musicians can be voted for - since this is for a real TV show idea)

  • dime should be the 90s lead guitarist with les claypool on bass

  • You can vote for Les Claypool on the Supergroup website. Not Dimebag since I only have living musicians, because this is for a TV show idea that would benefit charity.

  • thanks dude ill vote right now

  • someone tell me ??? where is kurt cobain????

  • Kurt Cobain would have been so perfect for this - singer, songwriter and musician - my 3 criteria for Supergroup membership - but this is for an actual TV show idea to benefit charity - so only living artists.

  • Also I think I would've put Neil Peart for the 80s drummer, and Travis Barker for the 90s.

  • The 90s group is good, but how can anybody complete with Geddy Lee, Ozzy, and EVH? Come on now.

  • 2000's super group:

    John Frusciante- Guitar

    Anthony Kiedis- Vocals

    Flea- Bass

    Chad Smith- Drums

  • ok, you have too many guitarists in one band...

  • Keep in mind I've got Dave Grohl on drums (even though I grabbed a picture of him on guitar). On my UK vs USA Supergroup battle - I had piano/keys players but alternative/metal music is more guitar oriented. I try to pick guys that can play, sing and write - because in my mind that's what makes a supergroup member. I wanted 6 guys also because the idea here is that they have record a whole CD in one week - so the more writers - the easier it would be to come up with new material.

  • NO SLASH!!??!?!

  • Slash would be perfect for the 80's Supergroup - you can vote for him on the Supergroup website.

  • and slash is overrated. eddie van halen is twice as good as him.

  • ok so 80's supergroup should have been...

    Sebastian Bach - Vocals

    Billy Sheehan - Bass

    Randy Rhoads/Yngwie Malmsteen - Guitar

    Lars Ulrich - Drums

  • You mean Steve Vai-Guitar.

  • Robert Deleo rocks the shit out of all of us. /end

  • absolutely loved it.... one small minor problem though..... its "Geddy lee" not Getty Lee"

Oh and i go for the 90's supergroup! xD

  • whats the name of that ozzy's song

  • Crazy Train (of course).

  • 80's Supergroup... for sure!!

  • 80's!!! by the way, some of those were 70's

  • I got to go with the 90's. I think it would be far more interesting than the 80's

  • Vocals - Sebastian Bach --Skid Row

Guitar - Zakk Wylde -- Ozzy

Guitar - Vito Bratta -- White Lion

Bass - Gene Simmons -- KISS

Drums - Tommy Lee -- Motley Crue

  • The Ultimate Group!!

    Vocals James Hetfield-Metallica

    Guitar Zakk Wylde-Black Lable Socity

    Guitar Dimebag Darrel-Pantera

    Bass Steve Harris-Iron Maiden

    Drums Neil Peirt- Rush

  • Hetfields not that great, I would rather have Layne Staley or a young Chris Cornell, by far!!

  • u could of made it a lot better. Vocals both good Ozzy and Chris. Lead guitar and guitar good for 80s. 90s vocals - Phil Anselmo/Chris Cornnell lead guitar - Dimebag Darrell guitar - Zakk Wylde bass - Mike Inez durms - Vinnie Paul 80s vocals - Ozzy Osbourne lead guitar - Eddie Van Halen guitar - Randy Rhoads/Steve Vai bass - Cliff Burton drums - Dave Lomabrado
  • You can vote for 80's or 90's Supergroup members (they have to be living since this is for an actual TV show idea) on the supergroup website.

  • any team with frusciante would eventually be victorious. But frusciante isn't better than Van Halen in his prime, but if we are talkin' about right now, Frusciante, imo, is the best guitarist on that list.

  • ya plus if we're going on prime vocals chris would kill any rock singer except freddie and robert. ecspecially with eddie on his side

  • As soon as you hear Eddie Van Halen shredding you know 80s wins lol

  • cornell is good but doesnt hold a candle to brad delp9boston) go liston to bostons first album.you will be a believer.

  • I love the idea of comparing the diffrent aras.but the seventies beat both, hands down.and i grew up in the 80's

  • really well chosen players, Robert DeLeo, Chris Cornnell, etc..

but, imagine a supergroup of the 70's

jimi hendrix, jim morrison, robert plant, john bonham, roger gloover, ritchie blackmore, though i think led zeppeling would be the best choise there :P

  • well picked players, especially the basisst of stone temple pilots, he's the best..

but imagine a supergroup form the 70's:

    -jimi hendrix - guitar

    -jim morrison - vocals

    -robert plant - vocals

    -john bonham - drums

    -roger gloover - bass

or something like that, i think maybe led zeppelin would've been the best choise :S

  • Remember, the idea here is for a TV show today with living musicians. You can also vote for your favorites at the Supergroup website.

  • the 70's beat both era's

  • the 80's music was better than the 90's.the 80's rocked the 90's got a little sissy.and now it's so bad i have no words to describe it.

  • the 90's...please the 80's were better.and the 70's beat both era's hands down.

  • none of the 90's guitar players touch eddie van hale..oh how soon we forget.the 80's rocked the 90's got a little sissy and now the music is so bad im at a loss for words.the 70's by far better than any era..no bands now days can touch zepplin ac/dc thin lzzy the eagles floyd skynyrd or van halen.

  • 80s would rock the shit outta the 90s the only place where the 90s won in my opinion is in vocals with chris cornell cause hes god

  • 1. Chris Cornell is the best vocalist powerful and ful of emotions -

    2. The best Guitar player is John Frusciante and he has a great voice

  • not better than brad delp(boston)not better than fredy mercury(queen)John frusciante, not better than stevie ray vaughn randy rhodes malmsteen jake e lee or zakk wyld.especially not better than stevie ray vaughn!

  • This idea is for an actual TV show - so I was only looking for living musicians. You can vote (for living musicians) on the Supergroup website.

  • Robert DeLeo excelente bajista

  • Chris Cornell beats every vocalist!!! Simply, best voice ever!!! Soooo powerful!!!

  • yah ok,not repeat not better than ronnie james dio,rob halford ,steve perry or sebation bach.

  • not better than brad delp(boston)not even close, not better than fredy mercury(queen)not better than ronnie james dio not better than rob halford(judis priest)not better than steve perry(journey)

  • Pantera Dimebag

  • Remember - this is only for living musicians - but you can vote for other Metal artists at the supergroup website.

  • 90s Chris Cornell rocks!!

  • Yeah! Soundgarden all the way!!!

  • where is Alice in Chains???:'-(((((

  • Remember - this is only for living musicians - so no Layne Staley, but you can vote for Jerry Cantrell at the supergroup website.

  • 80s main because of angus and ozzy to of the biggest rock gods ever

  • 80s for sure all thoe it is wierd how you have stve tyler and ozzy singing and i think that neil peart of rush is better than las ulrich but you can't have two guys form rush and as you know thery are pretty much a supergroup of there own

  • SO ur list is kinda messed up...Rush started in the 70s, Aerosmith started in the 70s, Van Halen started in the 70s...and half ur bands in the 90s started in the late 80s...

Why did u put angus young as the (metal) guitarist??? Of course he is metal... but so is eddie... U shoulda had angus and eddie on dual lead...that woulda been siick... Rythym wise u shouldve had Joe perry

  • Remember, you can vote for any one you want on the supergroup website.

  • alot of those 80's guys came from the 70's

  • what a lame selection for the 80's

Eddie Van Halen is ok, but then I would have put

Dickinson on vocals, Hetfield on rythm guitar, Sheenan on bass and Lombardo ondrums

  • john is in the chili since 88

  • the 80 guys are so good they owned the 70's too....at least most of the ones you chose :P

  • how can you even ask???

80's supergroup is the winner before I even saw this video ;)

  • Grunge rules!!!

  • HAHAH

    80S IS BIG

    90S MUSICIANS SUCKS

  • 80's all the way baby! evh pwns all!

  • 90's

  • 80's for sure

  • 80's
