Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence... Chomsky's works do make those kind of claims, it does point at a society that is wrong, at a majority of mainstream thought enclaves that have nothing to do with reality... and that's the problem: he'll be hated and disliked because you and others don't agree with him and I wouldn't expect anything less if he's near truth. But, he does supply extraordinary evidence for what he has to say.
And for what the term means in today's media, an American liberal politician or voter is a centrist or a very shallow left-wing supporter... but Chomsky is nothing like that: he's closer to the classical definition of the term and he's then more in favor of freedom than any person you will find on the right. Chomsky is a genuine leftist, not the kind you hear speak or talk to everyday. He's a libertarian socialist or an anarcho-syndicalist.
The entire world needs to be educated to this information. We are all to busy competing for jobs just to meet our primary needs to be aware of the overall bs we're being subjected to.

Absolutely correct. Because we have to work. Mostly at repitious jobs that make us ignorant to what's going on b/c we're too tired and too busy to have the energy to think for ourselves. Most of us humans always look for the quickest and easiest answers. It's faster, and the media is there to give it to us.
