I've seen a humane kill and that wasn't it. The shooter is a MORON. Absolutely STUPID and ignorant of how to do this. I hope that person is never within a mile of a horse again for the rest of his life.

But...in the case that this retard ever again thinks he has to shoot a horse, let me give him the directions for a clean kill. Draw an X across the horse's head from the ears to the eyes. Where the X crosses in the middle, shoot one inch further back than that, at neck angle.

It amazes me how you people will critique the method of a humane kill, when I already stated this did not happen in the best of conditions, or at the perfect time. While putting the horse down may have been necessary (indeed, even merciful), the execution (pardon the pun) leaves a lot to be desired. Instead of a quick taking of the horse's life, the shooter puts two ineffectively placed shots from a handgun into the creature's head, pauses for many seconds contemplating the results as the animal thrashes in pain, and only then finally finishes it off. The first shot should've been IMMEDIATELY followed by more if the animal did not fall unconscious.

ok the horse would ok froze to death...put it in a barn to keep it warm and what would be so hard about driving it to the vet i mean wasnt there anything the vet could do or at least you could of taken a better shot on the horse and not tied it up in the trailer.  im not trying to insult you i just feel bad for the horse.

this video is completely terrible.the horse went through a lot of pain during those shots. how would you like to have 3 shots to your head??i have 6 horses and no matter what would not "put them out of their missery"like that or do it to any other of my animals or any animal at all.you should be ashamed for treating a horse like this. what was even wrong with the poor baby.

Did you even read the video description? The horse was passing large amounts of blood through its rectum. It was -10 outside and the loss of blood would have resulted in the horse slowly freezing to death.

this is the most sick thing i've ever seen! that horse's last moments were fear, he probably trusted humans and you had to take that away right before he died! he didn't even die after the first bullet! You could have at least waited until you could take him to the vet, suffering one more day would be better than dying like that!

Like I said before, he was passing large amounts of blood internally, and the air temp was -10. It was unfortunate that he did not expire on the first shot. That could not have been predicted.

The vet saw the horse, but by some law or rule they have, they cannot euthanize an animal onsite and require that you pay for additional testing, to tell you that the animal cannot be saved. The owner of the horse was a vet tech herself and made the call to put it down instead of letting it bleed out overnight.. Feel free to call the police. Nothing in the video is illegal. If children are disturbed by the video the parents should monitor their children's online activities better.
