Sure you could use an automated tool to build your own mobile app, but I suppose you could learn to do maintenance and repairs on your own car...chances are it's not the best idea. You will probably run into problems and limitations quickly.
I suggest you find a reliable developer to build your mobile app instead.
I actually know many talented (and affordable) mobile developers (freelancers and agencies). I'd be happy to provide an introduction.

this is a great tutorial on filemaker and how it integrates with iPad, but you didn't make an app. I suggest changing the title as it's a bit misleading. otherwise, great tutorial!
