@bj05262 You can download super mario 64 on the wii anyway, Just go onto the Wii shop channel and it is somewhere in the classic games section. I haven't used the wii in a while so I'm not sure what the Wii shop channel is like. I think you need an n64 or gamecube controller to play super mario 64 on the wii. :D Hope that helped

I cant believe how gr8 this game is and you just made me realize how much greater it can be from a different perspective. I played this game for five minutes 6 years ago on my cousons N64 [ which is now broken ] and I have not played it since. However I do have a N64 and the Mario64 remake for DS. I have not been able to find the game online and my last hope to aquire it [ the store called Play N trade ] just closed down. But im just happy its out there somewere changing the way everyone sees.
This game is overrated. The game play is non-existent. All you do is just run around through the same levels 7 times. Nintendo successfully integrated the hunting aspect in games like DK 64 which is chocked full of action as well and strategy. Mario 64 is just too bare. I've never had fun with it. It's fun for like 10 mins until you get your first star and realize that is all you're going to be doing the entire game. Crash trilogy > Mario 64. Sony was the first company to bring platforming 3d.
@nightbane2 Oh definitely. If Mario 64 was in 2d it would have sold disastrously. It's flash was always it's selling point. Sony games had that edge back. The Lost Word is still my favorite game during that era. It integrated 3d properly into a game with massive gameplay and addictability. Allowing you to run through the background and foreground on occasions and keeping the perspective just right so it's not too frustrating. All Mario 64 is is a handful of levels with massive grinding.
@nightbane2 Give it 10 more years and we should start seeing some better reviews (not that you're a bad reviewer K-wing I like most of them) without nostalgia and bias.
@Luigi84289 It was revolutionary in '96. Here we are in 2011, and people say if it's not in first person, or has graphics not in HD/ under 128 bit it sucks. It's so retarded.
@legogamer98 I didn't like it in 96 and I still don't. It prioritizes graphics over gameplay. A lot of n64 titles did that. Nintendo went too crazy with the polygon engine and lost sight of what made their earlier games awesome. (except zelda) If mario 64 was in 2d it would not get a good rating. It gives you a handful of levels which require repeating up to 7 times each and lacks the nonstop action of it's predecessors. The only reason it gets high marks is because it is in 3d.

Nintendo is going back to it's roots and doing quite well now. Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros are selling much more than mario 64 did. Back when mario 64 came out my generation was playing crash bandicoot and the lost world jurassic park on the PSX.

@JamesStewartRider well if the problem is moving the cursor on the screen, you can get a classic controller which you can plug into the wii controller and you can use a controll stick to move the cursor and it is good to use when playing snes games.

This game is overrated. The game play is non-existent. All you do is just run around through the same levels 7 times. Nintendo successfully integrated the hunting aspect in games like DK 64 which is chocked full of action as well and strategy. Mario 64 is just too bare. I've never had fun with it. It's fun for like 10 mins until you get your first star and realize that is all you're going to be doing the entire game. Crash trilogy > Mario 64. Sony was the first company to bring platforming 3d.

@nightbane2 Oh definitely. If Mario 64 was in 2d it would have sold disastrously. It's flash was always it's selling point. Sony games had that edge back. The Lost Word is still my favorite game during that era. It integrated 3d properly into a game with massive gameplay and addictability. Allowing you to run through the background and foreground on occasions and keeping the perspective just right so it's not too frustrating. All Mario 64 is is a handful of levels with massive grinding.

@Luigi84289 It was revolutionary in '96. Here we are in 2011, and people say if it's not in first person, or has graphics not in HD/ under 128 bit it sucks. It's so retarded.

@legogamer98 I didn't like it in 96 and I still don't. It prioritizes graphics over gameplay. A lot of n64 titles did that. Nintendo went too crazy with the polygon engine and lost sight of what made their earlier games awesome. (except zelda) If mario 64 was in 2d it would not get a good rating. It gives you a handful of levels which require repeating up to 7 times each and lacks the nonstop action of it's predecessors. The only reason it gets high marks is because it is in 3d.

@Luigi84289 You're wrong. Nintendo makes gameplay good in this game. Graphics is the start of the 3D polygon era. Graphics has nothing to do with best. There is nothing wrong with this gameplay.

@anikid0392 There is no right or wrong. If you like the game that's fine I'm not here to make everyone agree with me. I was raised on the 2d games where graphics weren't a viable selling point. Nintendo is going back to it's roots and doing quite well now. Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros are selling much more than mario 64 did. Back when mario 64 came out my generation was playing crash bandicoot and the lost world jurassic park on the PSX.

Great review but i just want to say that the blue cap doesnt make mario invisible, it makes him intangible. Its called invisible but that doesnt explain how he can walk through walls. Just saying.

@JamesStewartRider well if the problem is moving the cursor on the screen, you can get a classic controller which you can plug into the wii controller and you can use a controll stick to move the cursor and it is good to use when playing snes games.

I think that's very overated. Did you only give it 10/10 because it was a game of your childhood? (Be honest). I don't think that's fair to viewers who buy the game because of you and don't like it that much.
