  • I love this guys voice... maybe it's because this voice is getting my through statistics. lol

  • I wish you would link to the next video (and previous) in the comments so I wouldn't have to go searching for you next video in the series! :)

  • @XadaTen Watch them at his site.. khanacademy. org

  • @deefees thanks

  • Khan, why you repeat previous lectures? Videos are there, we can always replay them. Anyhow, I learned a lot from these videos. I just want to add some kind of feedback to help for perfection. Thank you.

  • I learnt Statistics more in one night than I did in 24 years!

  • you are an angel

  • if you find some infinte distribution that is odd and take the mean of the sample mean - arent you skewing reality

  • @MrIzzyDizzy yes and no, you're getting a generalised model of reality, so that you can make predictions based on this model. what your model predicts will never be exactly what reality is, but it will be very close. He also begins to explains this in the video at around 6:00

  • J L I =D Awesome guidance!

  • you are amazing man!!! keeep it up (please) !! :)

  • your writing is very satisfying to me hahaha i dont know why

  • im dumb

  • @DeltaNineUK don't say that about yourself... you just need to fill in the holes in your knowledge. If you don't understand something, it only means there are terms or concepts in the explanation that require explanations of their own because you have not been exposed to these concepts before. No one is smarter than you and no one is better than you. Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.

  • @jchien

Thanks for the advice. Many high school graduates have " holes in their knowledge" because most of the learning time is spent how to pass the knowledge test from the state. The schools have forgotten the goal of school to teach reading writing and math.

  • I can't believe this is free.

  • Is there a way to use sampling data to extrapolate on the actual population probability distribution?

  • Is doubling your sample size equivalent to doubling the number of samples?

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum I just dont get why taking 1,000 samples of 10 would be any different than taking 5,000 samples of 2. Either way you would have sampled 10,000 particular randomly chosen elements... all of which get averaged in the end.

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum a larger sample size is what matters. The number of repetitions you do of your experiment affects how close to an approximation of a normal distribution, but the sample size has a direct effect on the normal distribution that is being approximated with the repetitions.

Think of it like this, If we could make an infinite number of samples of sample size 1, and infinite number of samples of sample size 10, what would happen?

  • @CogitoErgoCogitoSum 1 times infinity is infinity. 10 times infinity is infinity. So which one is better? which one is better at approximating an appropriate, usable distribution? The larger sample size is just more accurate. Another issue that comes up would be as to what they are used for. If you need to know whether or not. You are simply more likely to pick a better average with a larger sample size, therefore create a distribution with a small standard deviation. you review some probability

  • yeah, as therioches said, your videos are amazing but my class is now about to pass the videos.. its statistics without Sal!!! i dont know what im gonna do!

  • hey sal thanks so much for your wonderful tutorials .... Any chance you can put some more up on confidence intervals chi-square and t- distributions . dont stop there you are actually making statistics almost bearable . I love you man

  • You can get 7 and a half -- if you sample 6 and 9. (6+9)/2 = 7.5

  • Good point.

  • class!
