I agree somewhat. But then there are some in a nursing home who severely mistreated their children and the ended up there because the children got tired of their abuse. The old saying is true: Be good to your children-they pick your nursing home. It goes both ways.

I can tell you now that no aid is making 2000 dollars every two weeks. the Agency is taking the money and barely paying the aid.. Sad but true. I can say so. I have been in the field for 14 years. C.N.A's are mostly taken advantage of in nursing homes and home health agencys. the best place is a hospital to work in. I will do a video soon on elder abuse and how to help with familys.

The issue is not about the nursing home at all. The issue is that this woman has lost her right to make her own decisions about her life because she was appointed a guardian by the courts. The guardian has the power to make all of a persons life decisions. Please learn about this process because it could easily happen to you or one of your loved ones. No they can not. Nursing homes are under staffed and over worked. The county pays for families to take care of their relatives at home, provides nurses visits and home improvements for the care, yet relatives are still throwing their families into nursing homes. Anyone in New York can look up the law of guardianship for the elderly in the "Mental Hygiene Law Article 81". Within that law there is a section on the "powers of a guardian" which every person should read. After reading it, you will realize that everything you imagined about your civil rights or due process was a figment of someone's imagination. Remember, forewarned is forearmed.

@imamensa This law not hurt people relatives of family they advocate, but they abuse it. My mom was appointed by a guardian, via a judge from housing court, based upon the info I gave to APS person. Imamensa, my only advice is, put the pressure on these guardianship agencies, so that you can hold their feet to the fire. That way, these agencies that were appointed by court can do their job the right way. As for the Mental Hygiene Law of Article 81, there needs to reform up in Albany for this.

Until recently she was still looking after us and I feel so sad for her, as I can see how helpless she feels now and dependent. I spent over 3 years reviewing actual probate court documents involving the same sorts of cases. This situation is not uncommon and unfortunately most of what is done by the guardians, conservators, attorneys, judges, magistrates and medical personel involved; while being legal is highly unethical, abusive (both financially and physically).

Esta is completely correct when she refers to this as a conspiracy. Only criminal prosecution can correct the problem.
