That tuition price is reasonably priced. Lipscomb University, a private university, in Nashville Tennessee is around the same price annually. Yeah that's right around $16,000 too.
I go to a community college in Southern Illinois and book prices are on average $150 - $300. It's not unusual to spend around $250 - $300 + for a Biology/Math book.
Let me clarify what might make school expensive here. It isn't the school. It is campus living. If you live in Illinois and have the ability to commute, do it. Its $164 a month for me to ride the Metra an unlimited amount of times. This saves me about 12,500 dollars. If you don't have the option of commuting, and your from another state and the government isn't paying for a large chunk of your housing, then instead of getting a private loan for on-campus housing, take out a smaller loan and.....
@AKingJohnR get an apartment (with roomates if possible) in a cheaper area of the city (i.e. Logan Square). This wouldn't be much of a problem since the school provides a U-Pass for only 90 dollars, which gives you unlimited amounts of rides on any CTA public transportation. And then Jackson blue line station is only a few blocks from campus. Commuting isn't that fun. But it is an option. And I still party my fuckin balls off...so don't fret, all will be good. Plus get ur hw done on the train!
Okay, this school is pretty cheap compared to my school which I'm attending a few blocks away from Columbia College. I go to School of the Art Institute of Chicago and it's about $48,000 a year. Why complain about $17,000 for tuition?
is this school private or public? Iam thinking of going for graphic design idk if dis school is good im looking for a good school not expensive for graphic design
I currently live in Georgia and schools sucks here for graphic design the best they got here and anywhere is institute of art which is mad expensive!! Any helpful information would be appreaciated.
Looking for a college, I came across this one. I fell in love with it. Instead of 4 years, I would just be going for 2 years. I still don't know whether or not this is a "real" option. These costs might kill me...
YeA im actually broke but i'm gonna soak up my financial and use loans. i mean when i get a job in my career i'll have the money to pay it off then. i still want to go to ccc BAD its my last and only choice. i'm stuck in crazy expensive ny if i don't.i'm frekkin DOOMED IF I DON'T GET IN...i'm hypervenilating. whoa i gotta eat something...by the way i'm gona be a transfer majoring in Deaf studies minor in dance. wont be hard right?
17k in tuition actually isnt that bad compared to most colleges these days. It's actually one of the cheapest I've seen compared to other places I want to go like emerson or tufts.
How come a room with 2 people costs like $1k/month? That shud be cut in half because you are sharing with someone... I have my own apartment and it costs like 800/month and I live here alone...
If you want to get a film, TV, Design, etc degree - then don't wine about the book tuition. Most specialized colleges having the path you want to go towards will cost more.
Ok well if you did go to columbia then do you believe its a good college for the film degree? Because I really want to go there since I want to become a Director and I don't want to end up going to a horrible school.
I am a freshman at Columbia and i am majoring in Directing and minoring in Screenwriting. Let me warn you that your first semester...you be lucky if you even get a film class. BUT it is very creative & freeing and I believe I am getting the best education for my career choice.
As previous people have said, the cost of tuition is nowhere near that of other private schools. Sure the cost of tuition alone for a year is around $17,000 - while tuition at ISU for example is around $9,000; but, that's the difference between a private and public/state-funded school.
CCC has done a great job of draining my bank account for the first semester as an undergraduate freshman, but I do agree it's all for the resources and learning experiences here we need.
This is a great look at tuition and costs at Columbia. I attended myself and had a great education despite the high tuition - had to borrow a lot of money, though.
I'm currently a student at CCC paying all through financial aid! It is a little pricey, but there's no other school like CCC!!! It's worth it...and for books, buy them online!!!! You save A LOT!!! :)
yeah, it's more expensive compared to UIC or another state school, but most private schools are about $25-$40K A YEAR!! I got excepted at another school that was $36K a year and about $8K for on campus housing.
why would you live on campus anyways? it averages out to about $1k/month to share a room/apt; in Chicago, you can find cheaper 2 bedroom apts for $1k/month. and you can buy used books from eBay (or don't buy them at all and borrow from the library/friends)
i really wanna go there next year... but i don't know how i'll afford it. loans and scholarships only do so much u know? i don't mind spending the money and being in debt ... but getting the money to spend is another thing.
really good video! Thanks for sharing :)

ACTUALLY annualy, just with tuition and housing (the cheapest, around 10,000) is about 30,000.
That is not including food plans (which are about 500+), books, or U-Pass (which you must get every semester and its about $90)
In a spam of 4 years you'll be spending about $93,540 and that's only if tuition stays the same. Which, also goes up around 400+ every year

this actually isn't very bad according to my research
pedtorox 2 years ago
i never thought it was expensive. like someone said before, compare 18,000 a year to 35,000 at the school of the art institute.
however, the dorms are very pricey. getting a studio/1 bedroom apt. isn't bad - there's usually an L stop or a bus nearby.

oh my god people its a PRIVATE art college! Columbia is half the price of any other private art college, check out Parsons or pratts tuition.
