  • It`s beautiful to see that the alot of the most talented and graceful hula dancers are curvy women . Loving it !

  • Its not so easy to present this spirit .. entity of love ...

  • thanks, alina885. you hula, too? I do!

  • Does anyone know who this female singer is?? I love her voice.

  • it's nani lim yap. i believe the lim family has several cds out.

  • @masayosodeyama The female singer, in the beginning? Her name is Teresa Bright. :)

  • and to know thats my hula sister

    and my cousin.

    i love her to death

  • Wooooow she is amazing, she is my favourite miss aloha hula EVER!

Na Lei O Kaholoku is such an amazing hâlau,

i wanted them to win this year i think 5th place was not what they deserved... and i dont mean to disrespect the opinion of the judges i just love that hâlau...

  • Alohi lani!! The way she held herself said she had it from the start. She walked on clouds and interpretated "aloha" so well...

Poli'ahu"The emotions of love can sometimes bring sadness to the heart:- This is true...I felt that and MORE...ake akamai

    Mahalo nui loa

  • The very beauty of the culture shines through this beautiful woman and her dance. It shows that this is her life not just a hobby. The people of the islands should be proud to have her represent them.

  • Nani, Ed, and Sonny you make the Big Island so proud

with your dedication to our Hawaiian culture and heritage.

    Aloha to your O`hana,

    Moana :)

very beautiful girl very beautiful hair and very beautiful dance

  • Every time I come back & watch this video, I cry. She danced with so much love & respect in her heart. You can see the emotion in her face. This was, and always will be, one of the most inspirational hula ever danced at Merrie Monarch. She was truly deserving of the Miss Aloha title. Just absolutely beautiful.

  • such a beautiful island girl and true artist

  • the is the best! I have been looking at this video again and again and everytime it's a new emotion.

    Mahalo nui loa

  • This is one of my favorite performances! The legend of Poliahu and her unrequitted love with Awaipohi

  • Ya but she is beautiful and she is thick and she is perfect step off.

  • unlike the white man, the hawaiian culture finds other attributes to value, not just the outward appearance. if you were hoping to see a toothpick in a bikini, go google paris hilton.

  • Such EMOTION... I can only say it brough Warmth to the HEart and Tears of Longing for Home... WELL DONE SISTAH GIRL! :-)

  • Bravo!!!!

  • I can only describe this in one word: GODLY

  • @Tomzen9 well considering that this mele is about the snow goddess poli'ahu...godly would be a perfect word for this hahaha.

  • definitely one of the greatest hula performances i have ever seen. hula and music so beautiful. thank you all.

  • beautiful hula and voices. outstanding.

  • Very elegant and facial expression was superb!! "PERFECTION" at it's best!! Congratulations Bernice!!

  • How can one get the guitar tabs for this song?

  • gentle power - surrender and expression to the theme - compare with Miss Aloha Hula 2001, which

represents the other end of the power scale

  • maika`i no. an incredible moment in MM history! I was so happy to see her dance this in such appropriate character and `ano. :)

  • so u'i!

  • Perfectly done!

  • gorgeous woman and amazing dance! thanks so much for sharin'!! =)

  • it was like she was poliahu..i loved it

  • i've watched the videos of the other hula winners (2007) etc ... i'd say this has the most awesome effect on me (and i am not a hula expert). very beautiful!!! you deserve to be a winner...

  • i remember her.... she was awesome

  • Fluid dancer. Do you have her kahiko? I thought it was excellent.

  • I posted her kahiko on this new youtube account, along with past MM performances. the best of the BEST! she really was amazing and deserved to win!

  • Her kahiko hula was even more mesmerizing than the auana, if you can imagine. You could have heard a pin drop in the place when she danced. The singers backing her up are her mostly family members. Namakana is a beautiful young woman inside & out. Her entire family are wonderful people.

  • This is truely beautiful. The dancer is a real inspiration, so full of grace.

  • anybody know the Song? I really want to get the song (mp3) please...anybody have the song?

  • The ka'i and ho'i are "Poliahu" ... there are several recordings out, Teresa Bright, Ho'okena, and Frank Hewett I think. The main song is "Ka Eha A Ke Aloha" by Sean Na'auao.

  • thank you. I just order the CD at Amazon ^^Teares bright(I thiknk all track is good anyway your reply is very kindly thank you!!

  • Great dancing! absolutely beautiful. But the BASS PLAYER..... What you doing at 1:04?? lol making your own notes over there bruddah :P
