Ok so I've been working too much to notice others have commented.
@roxyfur I don't know how it knows but I just does. I have also cooked barly in it since to put in a chicken soup and it cooked it well. I have also prepard rice a roni and it worked good to but you have to fry it first like it says on the box. Thats how I do mexican rice, I did a video on that for my sister to
Your suppost to rinse all rice so the starches clean off & then you won't get a boil over while its in the pot, happens to anything you boil it in at the beginning. Unless you like messes everytime then do whatever you want.
Actually I have rinsed the rice before and I don't like the taste and I know my sister wouldn't like the taste either and thats who the video is meant for

@shano84Mac mess is ok where there is flavor
@DBSpy1 I'd pan cook the chicken first then mix together in a serving dish

Here's possibly a dumb question, how does the cooker know how long to cook the rice? Like how does it know whether it's brown or white rice?

My panasonic rice cooker says to soak the rice for 30 mins. Should I skip that step and just throw the rice in, add water and cook?

Rice loses some of its nutrients when rinsed. If you're unsure of how clean it is though, rinsing is a must!
