  • First of all, I want to say that I love your videos! But I have a bit of a, um... culinary handicap, if you will, and I was wondering if you have any suggestions that would help me. You ready for this?... I absolutely hate onions. But it's not the flavor I hate, it's the texture! Even chopped up really tiny. But everything worth cooking calls for onions! Is there any way to get the flavor without the texture? I would appreciate any advice.

  • @alainamilare Try putting the onions in a food processor until they are a fine puree. The onion should then mix in to the mixture without any lumps. All the flavour, none of the texture ;)

  • The Lasagna is now in the oven! I screwed up the Bechamel sauce by using too much Flour...:s It didn't really loosen up :/ Well well, the pasta sauce came out like i wanted it though.. But I think I really fucked it up :p I wonder what it will end up tasting like..

  • Yum, another good looking and simple recipe. Just a question, do you layer the sauces separately between the noodles or Bechamel atop the the meat sauce and then noodles? PS. I've been watching so many of your videos lately and I would totally try them all if I only had the time :)

  • @azn88hunni Start with a layer of meat sauce, then pasta, then meat sauce, bechamel, pasta etc and repeat until the final layer is bechamel sauce ;)

  • i have a question is is necessary to do the bechamel cheese sauce? my boyfriend is lactose intolerant so i am not sure if the liquid from the cheese sauce helps with the lasagne process or is just mainly the meat sauce

  • I don't know why people don't like to make this often... I love making it... I like to take spinach and pesto and toss that and black olives into the food proseser and blend that up then mix it with the ricotta cheese. I also put layers of Mushrooms and zukini squash in it as well. its so yummy. its so good with Venison Burger in it. diced green peppers, grape tomato and onion in sauce. I love veggies...

  • Hi! Why don't you try to make the fried with onion, celery and carrots and a tsp of butter? Here, in Italy, this kind of fried is the base of Bolognese, the sauce of Lasagne.

  • Once i was on holiday with a friend and we wanted to make this, my dad used to make it all the time so we called him on the phone and told him to tell us how to do it

    it was so nice we spend ages in the kitchen cutting everything

    Making the rue was such a mess! we made so much bechame it was hilarious!

    Its made very much like this one is, but we didnt put so much liquid into the meat. aside that almost exact!

  • @blackchidori97 You can, but you might need to add a little something to it as it can be a little bland on it's own ;)

  • I made this last night and it was delicious! My husband said he likes it better than the typical ricotta/cottage cheese recipes. The flavor is so nice and even throughout due to the lovely bechamel sauce. One question though, how runny is yours when it is done?  Mine was still quite runny and I cooked it as per your instructions. Is it supposed to be like that?

  • @cherryblonde3 It should be slightly saucy on top, but if it was "liquid" - then either it wasn't baked in the oven long enough, or the sauce needed a little longer on the stove when being put together ;)

    One question -- I live alone and love the idea of cooking in bulk. I'm wondering if I could freeze the lasagna before baking or if it would be better to bake and then freeze?

  • I usually use ricotta or cottage cheese mixed together with mozzarella cheese. Can I still use that in this recipe?

  • That looks fantastic. Can I leave out the tomatoes, I dont like the tast e of mushed up tomatoes and just use the rest of the ingrediens or would I have to add something else in place of those chunks of tomatoes?

  • first time I've seen one of your vids... it's great but just a health tip... aluminum (your pot) has been linked to Alzheimer's desease (too much of the metal deposits in your brain)

    Also you don't use a wooden spoon with raw meat as the wood absorbs the bacteria from the meat

    apart from that it's great and I can't wait to make your lasagne for dinner :)

  • @MichelleMorgan22 The pot is made of steel, not aluminum. And my wooden spoons are sealed, so as long as they are in good condition - they shouldn't absorb anything ;)

    I only mentioned the wooden spoon as a family member was put in hospital after using the wooden spoon with raw meat so didn't want anyone else to get sick

  • Hi there. Thanks for this recipe. I usually consider myself a good cook but I couldn't get lasagne right - your technique of adding stock to help cook the pasta sheets really helped.

    Just a small warning, though - this recipe makes a LOT. I could only fit about half of it in my lasagne pan. Next time, I'll halve the recipe and see how we go. But great stuff! Thanks again!

  • @karlphillips1 Absolutely - it's also great for making in bulk and freezing in portions. I make a huge lasagne, bake it and then put in the freezer. I get up to 10 serves out of a single lasagne. Great for when I can't be bother cooking!
