'Wherefore, in order that all doubt may be removed regarding a matter of great importance, a matter which pertains to the Church's divine constitution itself, in virtue of Our ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Lk 22:32) We declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church's faithful.' Pope John Paul II (Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, 22 May 1994)
Catholics must look at this at a different angle and perspective. Forget whether this is allowed or not allowed by Vatican as the verdict has already been reached on that. WHAT YOU MAY BE SEEING RIGHT NOW IS A PART OF A DELIBERATELY PLANNED AND SYSTEMATICALLY EXECUTED CONSPIRACY TO ATTACK, HUMILIATE, DISCREDIT, DIVIDE & CONQUER THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH AT IT'S MOMENT OF GREATEST VULNERABILITY. These women may not be even aware that they are being used as pawns and certainly not the 1st time.
This is a mockery of the Catholic Faith! What is wrong with these people? This has to be one of the most disgraceful things I have ever seen. Only Satan wants division within the Catholic Church, and these "woman priests" are certainly helping him in his goal.
And as for the Catholic who actually attend these "mockeries" (I refuse to call them masses) Why do you stray from the truth? Why do you go against 2000 years of tradition that over the centuries, has defined us as the one true faith?
Women "priests" are naught but children playacting. And they do so at their own spiritual peril.
When will these women realize that they cannot - and will not - ever be able to be ordained? It is a dogma of the Church, and as such is the Truth as revealed by the Holy Spirit. The superficiality of their arguments for ordination is pathetic to see. Unless, of course, their extremism extends to a denial of papal infallibility - in which case, there's really nothing we can do but pray for them.
"Wherefore, in order that all doubt may be removed regarding a matter of great importance, a matter which pertains to the Church’s divine constitution itself, in virtue of my ministry of confirming the brethren (cf. Luke 22:32), I declare that the Church has no authority whatsoever to confer priestly ordination on women and that this judgment is to be definitively held by all the Church’s faithful." (Ordinatio Sacerdotalis 4)
The name Jezebel came to be associated with false prophets, and further associated by the early 20th century with fallen or abandoned women. In Christian lore, a comparison to Jezebel suggested that a person was a pagan or an apostate masquerading as a servant of God. By manipulation and/or seduction, she misled the saints of God into sins of idolatry and sexual immorality.Eve was tempted by Satan before she persuaded Adam into Sin.
They call it discrimination of women? This church has carried these sacred traditions for almost 2000 years,. I don't know about anyone else-but I wouldn't go to confession & have a women priest. Did Christ pick women?
@truthfulreply Wrote: "....This church has carried these sacred traditions for almost 2000 years,. I don't know about anyone else-but I wouldn't go to confession & have a women priest....."
**Besides that, if The Catholic Church starts ordaining women to the Priesthood, then who'll be around to molest the alter boys??
@CounterCultureLives These are the words of Jesus Christ Himself. Did he say the Church is the source, or the cause of the scandals? No, He said a man (or woman, to be politically correct for the time of the Gospel writing) is. Remember, the Catholic Church is not a hotel for saints, it is a hospital for sinners (Mark 2:17).
@truthfulreply No, these are the adulterated words of MAN, who CLAIM that Jesus spoke those words. Organized religion is nothing more than a means by which the chosen and self-proclaimed few to reign in rule over the masses, claiming that they are doing so in "god's name".
@truthfulreply Wrote: ".......I don't know about anyone else-but I wouldn't go to confession & have a women priest."
** The ritual of Catholic Confession has changed since I attended Catholic Schools. When I was a youngster, Catholic Confession began with the words"Bless me father, for I have sinned."
Now, Catholic Confession begins with the words "Bless me Father.... do you want to go first??"
With all due respect and love, those who think women can be Catholic priests suffer from Delusional Disorder, a psychiatric diagnosis denoting a psychotic mental disorder characterized by holding one or more non-bizarre delusions in the absence of any other significant psychopathology. Non-bizarre delusions are fixed beliefs that are certainly and definitely false, but that could possibly be plausible. To think that women can be Catholic priests is a clear indicator of Delusional Disorder.
@UnaVoceMiami Those who oppose Ordination of women are blinded by a patriarchal system established by men who feel threatened by a woman's intellect.
You believe that unleavened bread can be transformed into "god" through consecration by a mortal human being. You believe in fables of talking snakes, talking donkeys, a man who lived for three days inside a whale, (with an esophagus about the diameter of an orange) and you're claiming that others suffer from "Delusional Disorder"??
@kongo4527 You are right-this is exactly why we have our hierarchy structure of the our church-so that others can not portray to be someone they are not. Our scruptuous list of Popes-Cardinals,etc-are to protect the church from clergy that aren't validly ordained within the church. Now-others make fun of our heirarchy-I think its fabulous!
not anyone on this earth has the authority to change them! the same as we cannot change communion from bread and wine to coke and a chocolate biscuit we cannot change from male ordained priests to female priests! there will be married priests here before that.
Become a nun if you wish to serve God and only him they have as big a role as priests
look this is silly it is not sexism churches today would not survive without women and vatican II addressed the issue of power hungry men clambering to the top and dictating life of the parish! In a real sense of people in every day parish life men and women are involved by serving tea cleaning and looking after God's house for him! The sacrament of ordination to priest hood is a sacrament unable to be changed by anyone contiued on next comment
The speaker of this Zorrority BLAH-BLAH like Protestants. She could mention all the Bible verses & Canon laws, but if her Club is not approved by the Vatican, it could not even be considered a Catholic Ministry. People, please respect the Catholic Leaders, founding Fathers, Apostles, Saints,Nuns & Priests! Be obedient & HUMBLE like them! You are not CALLED to serve, so don't force your idiotic beliefs on Genuine Catholic Community, just because you "feel" like you have that right. Scary!
I'm reading all of the comments. If you people think women have anywhere near CLOSE to the number of "sexual abusers" as men, you're delusional. Most crimes are committed by men. That's rape, murder, robbery, sexual assault and pedophilia. You do not hear of "male order husbands" or 10 year old boys being given to women in "other cultures". You people make up stuff so you can sleep better at night I guess.
@TheSundora, you need to study what is Catholicism. This religion is not about who is doing what. Catholicism is about ONE, HOLY and APOSTOLIC Church, with Sacraments, Tradition, Canon Laws, Bible, and so many other things to observe and follow. It is not like Protestanism, wherein one can drop out and choose one church over the other church because you kinda like the Pastor and the assembly is more musically vibrant, and is Pro-choice. Study Catholicism and discover this amazing Pearl.
This is sad to see people so deluded. These woman will have it their way no matter what Jesus said or did. Including warning that people like these would come along. Sadly no surprise.
thy are making pagan church-the daughters of EVE not of Mary.in the past 100yrs-1920s to 60s.to70s.in the name of freedom to vote to choices.....now this stuff too,.who is head of the sheep, god or someone else. there's different god made with adam and eve,(we need to respect each other and love each others difference- in holly way-with god 's love,mercy,free- will and the laws in the bibe.)
What first comes to mind: Envious Lesbians, that don't recognize Apostolic authority. All this is balderdash, to put it nicely. These usurpers are very evil, and like someone said above, the spokeswoman is in need of removal of her tongue..for she speaks heresy. So very sad ANYONE could be hoodwinked by these FEMNISTS. Bottom line is, Religion & Faith are secondary in their mindset; what's all important to them is "Equality," not unlike Obama who talks "fairness" at expense of logic/reason
@mikelheron20 going along with this logic that parents would be much happier with women preists because of couse it was all them evil men that sexually abused the kids. I find it interesting that the CDC statistics shows that when it comes to abuse of children women are shown to be the demographic that do this more. So no as a parent I would not be happy for this. Now I am by no means trying to make exuses for these terrible acts and the coverups that came with it but every feild is affected
@mraNewfoundland by these things but we never hear about them don't we. Teachers rank high on the scale and when it comes to women who do this we never hear it called what it is sexual abuse, it will be call forbidden love or teachers naughty secret etc. For some reason if the sex of the abuser is female, we seem to think or we are conditioned to think she warrents less of a punishment because she is a women; where men are hung out to dry there is such a double standard.
@mraNewfoundland I'm sure the role of women in child sex abuse has been under-represented but I'm struggling with your statement. You use the term "abuse" without qualifying.it. If we are going to include physical (non-sexual) abuse the stat is more believable. It is, after all - even in 2012 - women who do most of the parenting. My point was somewhat tongue in cheek and was more a comment about the Catholic Church than about the benefits of women priests.
@mikelheron20 When I do mention abuse I will say that yes that includes all abuse of children when it comes to women. In 2005 the NSPCC did its study and found that the number of victims of women perpatrators was 5%. My point is that we automatically jump to the position that all priests (men) are rapists with your thought. Well that would be inline with feminist think these days but I reject that position, and stereotype. I will say that any abuse no matter the sex of the perp is heinous.
@mraNewfoundland I would never, seriously, maintain that all male priests are rapists and having taught Child Protection for many years I would not jump to the conclusion that abusers are automatically men. However, I do question that the perpetrators of sexual abuse are as likely to be women as men - which seemd to be what you were implying. In fact you said that women were more likely to be the perpetrators.
@mikelheron20 ok if you have taught child protection for many years you would know the stats I have quoted the 2005 NSPCC study on child abuse. Research shows that there is no difference in the severity of abuse by female sex offenders as compared to male sex offenders (Rudin et al., 1995, p. 969).
Rudin, M., Zalewski, C., & Bodmer-Turner, J. (1995). Characteristics of child sexual abuse victims according to perpetrator gender. Child Abuse and Neglect, 19(8), 963-973.
Researchers from the Lucy Faithfull Foundation (LFF), a child protection charity that deals with British female sex offenders, said its studies confirmed that a "fair proportion" of child abusers were women. Donald Findlater, director of research and development, said results indicated that up to 20% of a conservative estimate of 320,000 suspected UK paedophiles were women. (Published in the Guardian following Plymouth Nursery Case).
@mikelheron20 If my comments were misleading I am sorry that was not my intention. Again abuse whether it be sexual or otherwise is absolutly terrible. When I see instances of men not matter the profession being the target of blanket accusations I react to them.
There are always the few bad apples that will ruin it for the lot and that goes pretty much for any feild. Although when it happens in the Church I am always the more disappointed even more so when it is covered up.
@mraNewfoundland I didn't think we were discussing whether abuse is terrible or not - of course it is. That's a given. My only question was about the numbers of female abusers compared to the number of men. Your statement that there are more or less equal numbers seemed implausible to me and contradicted stats that I've read. Catholicism is, in my view, a source of evil. A religion that teaches that AIDS is bad but the use of condoms is worse has no place in a civilised world. That's abusive too.
@joe12544 Abuse is abuse whoever carries it out. My comment was intended ironically. I have no time for the Catholic Church or its clergy - whatever gender.
Oh God, it is not Roman Catholic, it is not Catholic, it is not Protestant. This is very heretical in the Church, founded by Jesus Christ and on the apostles based. Female priesthood is dogmatic nonsense. You are deceiving ourselves. Father, forgive them; they do not know what they are doing.
just call yourselves, "catholic" and not "roman catholic". you don't follow the bishop of rome, aka pope. please stop lying and calling yourselves "roman catholic"!!!
This is typical of the feminist movement that any where there are men in authority it is there that women see their next target to tear down. Whether or not the whole of the Church Catholic has come to a consensus therefore comeing to a true consensus fedelium. When I say the Church Catholic I mean the Churches of the East and West. This is a hereitcal movement caught up in the wings of feminism and has nothing to do with the right order of the Church Catholic.
These women are really brave for fighting for what they believe in. They might as well start a new religion already. Saves more time and drama. God will understand their intentions anyway. :D
If you want to be a priest, and you are a woman, do what the little flower did, be obedient and find your true vocation. If you choose to be disobedient in this way, then you are certainly not Catholic. True power comes from sanctity. To see the priesthood as some sort of power position, is to see the world with secular eyes, thinking it's all some human game. It's to be blinded by the world, being unorganized about equality. We are equal already!!! God loves you and you can serve his people!
If they focused more on pleasing God rather than themselves they might realize holiness is found in doing Gods Will not their own. The holiest creature ever was a woman and she knew her place in Gods Will. Everyone has their place in the militant church but if we send everyone out to battle on the front line and none guarding home base we all get fall together. We are supposed to complement each other. Abraham, Moses, David,Jesus,Isaiah,Ezekiel,Daniel, The Apostles. They played their role.
This is very upseting to me :( It seems that them becoming priests has absolutey nothing to do with God! They just think its "unfair" they are just trying to find another way to be equal to men. The Bible makes it very clear that women are not to preach. As a woman I understand because I use to be offended by this but God made his wishes clear in the Bible.
Do these women realize how rediculous they look? Watching women in there 60's prancing around the altar holding hands sure doesn't bring me closer to Christ. They should be excommunicated.
God made you all women for a reason-to serve him as women in the roles of women, as wives and as mothers. He instituted the priesthood as a role for men who He sees fit to call to it. Why are you so unhappy with God's will? Your disobedience doesn't serve the people of God-it destroys and fracture's His people. If you truly wish to serve God, do so by fulfilling the role that you are obligated to. Don't be selfish and serve your will.
This isn't about sexism or misogyny! Women just aren't allowed to be priests! If Jesus wanted them to be priests he could have chosen Mary Magdelene or his own mother, but no he chose men only! There have been several great women in Church history, Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Avila, Teresa of Calcutta, to name a few but they didn't have to be priests to serve God!
@CounterCultureLives ...Ignorance of Catholicism, is ignorance of Jesus. May God bless you and convert your heart and belief. One day, you will be an avid Catholic Evangelizer. The Holy Spirit has not touch you yet, thus you can assume negatively like you do, but soon you will be called to be HOLY too.
@tobalilo Your "powers of discernment" are as incorrect as your perceptions of so-called "ignorance". I used to be a Catholic; I also considered entering the Priesthood.
You are wanting to base "truth" upon emotions. Truth is not based in emotions; truth is based in fact. Facts welcome objective analysis and critical scrutiny.
Catholicism, and all other organized religions fail those measures. Most religions contain some elements of truth; no religion holds the exclusive truth.
@JohntheJigglyuser Thank you! Women and men are different in body and soul; and God chose to give the genders different roles! His mother, a woman, is the Queen of Heaven! The Church loves women.
According to Scripture ministers, pastors, priests, etc. are to be men. In reference to clergy, women are never shown to be qualified to be clergy. See St. Paul's epistle to Titus and St. Paul's First Epistle to Timothy.
You can't decide you're a Catholic priest any more than I can decide to join the Steelers or be an astronaut... doing so is called delusional psychosis.
men and women are created equally in the image and likeness of God because we have the use of reason and free will. Physically, psychologically, and emotionally, we are NOT created equal.
the church's government is a hierarchy with Jesus on top followed by the pope. it is not a democracy. you cannot vote on issues of faith and morals and popular surveys have no meaning
blessed pope john paul ii needed not consult anyone to issue any "decrees". Jesus told st peter " you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
the pope is the successor of st peter. whatever he binds on earth shall be bound in heaven
in the early church women were ordained as DEACONS not priests. this came out of the necessity that everyone was baptized in the nude. and so they ordained women deacons so that they could baptize the women
you mention st paul to rationalize your position. st paul says:
1Corinthians 14: 34-35
"Let the women keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission... it is a disgrace for a woman to speak in church."
real catholics believe that the bible is the inspired word of God [God speaking through st paul]. if you musn't even speak in church how can you even think that God will allow you to be priests?God cannot contradict himself.
roman catholic women priests? sorry but they don't exist. you may claim you are all you want but you're not. you say that you would accept excommunication? an excommunicated catholic is a catholic condemned to hell. would you really accept that?
Better female priest than pedophile male priest. Maybe that's why when I joined the Unitarian Church 11 out of the 12 new members were ex-Roman Catholics. The Roman Catholic Church is neither holy nor pious. They are overly, arrogant, pompous, corrupt and immoral liers. You can have your evil, lying church. The fact that you keep on molesting so many children proves your are a totally evil church. I don't want anything to do with you. The Catholic priesthood clearly serves Satan.
There has never, nor will there ever be, a place for female ordination in the Catholic Church. This is definitive. It follows the 2000 yr Tradition of the Church founded by and on the personal example of Jesus Christ. Its not a question of fairness, justice or equality. Its a question of obedience, humility and faith. To rebel is satan-like. There is more likelihood of the Church declaring men can now give birth, than to allow women priests. Its impossible. Reject this and you reject Christ.
Well said, I say we need to bring the other half of humanity to the table where it has been missing for 2,000 years. Humanity has been cheated because the oppression of patriarchy that makes women less than because of an Aristotilian error of anthropology of women that made them unequal. We need to correct that anthropology as we are all biologically equally made up of half female and half male genes. This change is necessary now, today!
@bozarts22 Would you describe the Hebrew tradition in which Jesus was raised as 'Aristotlean'?
You say the change is needed today. I agree. However, a fringe minority stamping their feet and acting as if that change has already happened will not make that change real.
Patriarchy is deeply ingrained in most cultures. Change (I mean REAL change) will be slow in coming and may not take the rather simplistic 'we're all the same' form you suggest.
In 50 million years there will still be NO WOMEN CATHOLIC PRIESTS. Then again I might petition Pope Benedict to give men the right to have babies. Yep, Im sure he has that power too. I mean we are all equal are we not? So thats final. I want a baby. Now I expect a little opposition from this Man-Having-Baby-hating church, but if all you women support my cause it should be ok. Shouldn't it????
Christ had an ALL MALE Priesthood. Women stay home with your children and grandchildren. If you want a religious vocation, become a nun (providing your not a lesbian). These ego building feminists are so unhappy with life and themselves they get suckered in by the temptation of the devil and don't realize it. When women start living out the roles God calls them to, such as Motherhood and pro-creation, then will our world return back to civility!
Women, by order of the voice of God inherent in His Catholic Church, can not receive Orders. Christ pronounced the matter and form of all the Sacraments, and the matter for Orders is a "vir"...a male. Like bread and wine for the Eucharist, and a human being for Baptism, there needs to be a male for Orders. Rome has declared these "ordinations" null, void and gravely sinful. Prove me wrong!
who is the pope to interfere with Gods call to women to be priests? God is calling some women to the priesthood. Pope! stop interfering with Gods work!
@bearnurse1 Just because you 'wanna be a priest' does not mean you can violate Holy Scripture and Sacred Tradition in the process. It is proceeding with the supposed 'calling' that you are conflicting with God.
@assasincomedy Why not?? "Holy Scripture" and tradition are simply the opinions of people claiming to speak for "God". We KNOW that human beings can and do write books and other reading materiels. I don't know of any way to verify claims that a book is written by a god so I assume they are all human opinions unless someone back up their claim with evidence.
When someone is in desperate need of The Lord Jesus Christ they don't care what what the vessel who carries Him looks like. It's not about the priests, it's about the recipients of God's love and Grace.
To disobey the Church is the separate one's self from the Church and, by extension, from salvation. You are losing your souls for the sake of your ego and pride.
Also just because Canon 849 says includes Holy Orders as a sacriment obtainable from Holy Baptism, it doesn't just mean the" Eternal Priesthood", it can mean becoming a nun. You can argue that Vatican II allows it since we all become "Universal" priests, but the "Universal" priesthood doesn't allow you and I to automaticly give the sacriments.
Miss if you would lend me your ears, you mention that 70% of Catholics believe there should be woman priests, but you forget that 90% don't even go to mass, so your source, being that its from non practicing Catholics, is proposterous.
The Holy Roman Church doesn't ordain women to priesthood.,those who considered themselves as Catholics and doing things which is in contrary to the Doctrines of the Holy Mother Church are hypocrites, schismatic and heretics.,they should be ANATHEMATIZED!
I am a Russian Orthodox Christian and I must admit that you guys have lost the way. How can you think that you confer any grace upon any one. I am very charitable as a person, but have you just not let your feminist insecurity complex get to you? You are not priests you do not have the gift of Apostolic succession you can never bring the Holy Mysteries to be present on the Holy Table. I pray for you that the Lord is merciful. Remember God is merciful pray to Him and he will hear.
have these women never heard of the Virgin Mary? Something tells me that if these women started their own womens priest church, no one would pay any attention to them
If you truely believe in christ and the eucharist you know that the wafers you hold cannot transubstantiate as you are preformingan illicit act. You are leading yourselves and your followers down the garden path. Come back to full communion with the Holy See.
Sorry there can be no valid "woman priest" In the Roman Catholic church. Everything done is illicit and no sacrament administered can be valid. Please for the sake of your souls reconsider your actions. It is never too late to repent.
You are all just a group of feminists. Nobody discriminate you as women. In a true church, everybody has an important role to play. You don't have to be a priest in order to be regconized within the church. Look at Our Lady, she is the mother of the church and even Jesus has to listen to her. Our Lady did not have to be priest but she had her role as important as priest. In our church, there are so many great female saints. Mother Teresa of Calculta was one of them with great respect.
Will of God that only men should carry out the role of Sacramental Priest, without denying Jesus' choice and in turn ridiculing God because Jesus the Son is part of the Holy Trinity which is God. And as far as the survey...I'm Catholic, I never took that survey so it is not a representation of the whole Catholic Community only a small, perhaps even biased selection of Catholics to take part in the survey.
As catholics we are NOT sexist we hold women at high esteem, just look at Mary our Mother.
Through the Sacrament of Baptism ALL are ministers including women. BUT only men are allowed into the Sacramental Priesthood. Mary was the closest person to Jesus, yet he did not choose her to be one of the 12 (all of whom were male) the only account of women in a higher form of ministry is the Deaconess in Acts who was not ordained, thus was not clergy, but laity. Since Christ chose only men to pass on his power to drive out sin and take away demons, you can not deny that it was the
If you WERE the believing community, you would realize that Jesus gave Peter the keys to the Kingdom and since Peter's successors have bound it, so it is. STAY AWAY FROM THE CATHOLIC CHURCH!!!
@swinfordable Yeah??? Peter also denied even knowing Jesus three times. I think its time the Church loosens up a bit. What's wrong with awoman wishing to celebrate the Lord and Savior Jesus to the full extent that a man can, simply because men were His disciples? If I remember correctly men also betrayed Him, put him on trial, and crucified him. Tell me one verse out of the Roman Catholic Bible that clearly states "Women are not to be ordained priests".
@sweets4ever1 who said that it had to be from the Bible? The practice belongs to Tradition. By the way, those sins that you mention make no difference on whether you can be a priest or not. Everybody sins.
Unjust laws? Such a matter of misunderstanding. Now look, this law isn't in place for the purpose discriminating. This lady's research is good, and to be honest, this is a topic the Church should give more serious conversation too. Still, if you think the Church only ordains males for the sack of discrimination or because the Church "blames the fall more on women" then you are not truly seeking to understand the Church's stance.
Their arguments are those of all heretics down the ages. Conscience must be informed and not used as an argument against Authority in the Church that is given to The pope and Magisterum,
These women are NOT Roman Catholics!! The Roman Catholic Church does NOT ordain women as priests...therefore, these women are obviously committing sacrilege and are PROTESTANT!
THESE WOMEN ARE NOTHING BUT APOSTATE HERETICS.BY THEIR ACTIONS, THEY ARE SEPERATED FROM THE CHURCH.I AM A RC WOMAN ,AND, THEY DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME,OR ANY WOMEN I KNOW. THANK GOD THEY ARE A DYING BREED.THE CHURCH IS REDISCOVERING, ITS RICH TRADITIONS. I WOULD ADVISE THESE APOSTATES, TO START LIVING THE VOWS ,THEY MADE TO GOD, AND TO LEARN A LITTLE OF THE HUMILITY, OF OUR LADY, AND THE SAINTS. THEY COULD START BY GETTING DOWN ON THEIR KNEES, AND PRAYING FOR ENLIGHTENMENT.VIVA JESUS VIVA THE POPE.
By sayin women should be priest you are saying Christ didnt complete his mission. Jesus as the second person of the Trinity would have known to ordain women if he were supposed to! why? because he is God the Son. He would know that! he had the perfect women to ordain Martha mary and mary magdalen three perfect canidates... but he didnt! so look into that and think that he had the chance and women to do it but didnt ordain women he only ordained men!
The Catholic Church is not discriminating against women... I understand times have changed but the Catholic Church doesnt wavor in times or with the secular world... JPII said we cannot ordain women priest because Christ only ordain men. Mary wasnt at the last supper which was the instituion of the Priesthood We dont have teh authority to ordain women priest Jesus ordained men not women if it were important to ordain women he would have done so Jesus was the son of God what he did what was right
you are not Catholic Priests, to be roman Catholic means your mind and heart is in communion with the successor of st peter the holy father Pope Benedict XVI
and its not just women priests you want, you also want to change change' the ordination rite and the celebration of your 'masses'
Accept your gender, you are females. God gave us different roles and we should not have the pride to question His judgement. Stop wasting your time and find something productive to do with yourselves.
@wishourselvesaway Why should women have to be subordinate to men? Holy Baptism makes us all equal in the eyes of God. If a woman can fulfill the duties of a priest as well as a man, why should she be kept away from the ministry? Women feel the call to be a priest just as strongly as a man. The discrimination and second-class treatment of women needs to stop.
I do want you people to realize that you are not validly ordained priest, you are committing a very serious sin.You people have no right to claim the holy priesthood. it's a mans job, an I do believe that priest are suppose to act in "Persona Christi" meaning like Christ, who was man, you people do not accept that though its not the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to you rather the Creator the redeemer and the Holy Spirit, when you deny Christ he will deny you to his Father! God Bless ye lost sheep!
Finally, the non-dualistic, non-hierarchic nature of Catholicism can blossom. God the Father, God the Mother and all their blessed children, connected through Christ Emmanuel. If this carries on I can start believing in the Church again! Other prejudices also need to be addressed before I can trust the clergy. 1 Respect for Mary as equal to Christ in her unity with God 2 An end to hierarchy in the priesthood 3 The decentralisation of Rome's authority 4 Respect for all religions as paths to God
@coolwater55 These are indeed women who have simply confused wearing the vestments with having actual authority.
I know exactly what their mandate is; a self- mandate.
I object to their posturing because it is schismatic and I love the Church. Incidentally, I have no philosophical or theological objection to female priests. I simply object to these proud upstarts who seem unable to accept the authority of the Mother Church.
Why don't we look to Christ or Christs very own words that dictate only those with male genitals can receive the Holy Spirit in such a way to be a vessel for the Holy Spirit for "transubsantiation" to take place.
Seems to me a MAN or WOMAN would NOT be required at all. Jesus sent the Advocate - if we believe in Christ first and foremost, repent and turn our lives to Christ. Then the advocate comes.
Lastly, celebrate the mass with dignity and reverence by wearing the proper vestments. Show to the whole world that you CAN be priests, and can do what priests can do. The mass is never a circus. It demands solemnity from everyone. And you say women priests don't have obedience vows. But you have bishops? Where does the jurisdiction and authority of these bishops come from? And bishops would not come to the picture if there are not priests publicly saying vows of obedience to him/her.
"25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat (or drink), or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?"
@coolwater55 We may have dissenting views on the priesthood, but we are both Roman Catholics right? We believe in Sacred Tradition, as well as saints. St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Priests (sure, he's male, but women priests can learn a lot from his spirituality. Since you are a "budding" group, you need all the help, inspiration and formation you can) invested a lot in his vestments, because as I have said, appropriate things for the appropriate occasion.
The Pope has this kind of teaching authority, as the supreme pastor of the Catholic Church. But of course, with the Catholic Church more "sensible" than it were centuries before, the pope would not issue statements that would contradict the sense of the faithful. In bureaucratic terms, he needs to be "professional". Whatever the pope is saying in his letters or encyclicals may not be infallible, but at the same time just confirming longheld traditions and the sense of the faithful.
No problem. These women know they are not in line with the Holy See right now. But they still have a right to worship Christ as they see fit.
If a Bishop ordained them, then that Bishop made that discernment.
I have seen a lot of videos of Priests dancing down the aisle and one Parish where a Priest and the parishioners are having a "halloween" party in the mass. it is disgusting. But why worry about these women who you say are wearing vestments like curtains?
@coolwater55 I know, and believe me, I am also disgusted by those perversions in the mass. Both of us will agree that we should exhibit proper decorum and attire at mass. And even if you have disagreements with the Catholic Church with regards to its teaching on women priests, you consider yourselves as Catholics still right? Therefore, you should be subject to the same rubrics of mass that has been held for many centuries.
@coolwater55 My point is that if these women priests are ordained by bishops, then certainly they are part of the hierarchy, and subject themselves to that hierarchy of priesthood. So they should have a vow of obedience to someone higher in the hierarchy.
"But they still have a right to worship Christ as they see fit." Sure, but they can no longer be labeled as "Roman" Catholics because they dissociate themselves from the authority of the See of Peter in Rome.
Agreed to a degree about "Roman Catholic". But....if they for all intents and purposes (other than your objection to their vestments) follow the rubrics fairly close of Roman Catholic rite well. I believe these women priests are defined as "Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests"
A male Bishop ordained them, website romancatholicwomenrpriest help understand where they are at.
But, in Canada, we have Catholic Network for Womens Equality.
@anotheronem Not quite also. I object to the whole celebration of the liturgy of these women priests. I have watched many videos here in Youtube of their "masses", you know, trying to hear their/your cause. But I was disappointed. Their host looks like a large bread, and they have different modes of ordination. They alter words, and do not have proper gestures during the Consecration. I can go on, but I think you can get my point.
Again, young sir, you are worrying about "tradition and pomp and ceremony" rather than the real indwelling of the Holy Spirit and Jesus.
However, I am more for a simple service - that means everything in simplicity - to honour Christ.
Another thing to note, however, The Vatican has issued a warning in same breath almost with the sex abuse issues that these women are commiting "crimes" against the Church.
How about that? think that is intimidation or what?
@anotheronem I am not worrying about tradition and pomp and ceremony. I am a simple man, I want to cut to the chase. But simply the Mass, the memorial of what happened in Calvary, is not simple. The same way that Jesus' Passion, Death and Resurrection is not simple. Many things take place in the mass. The transsubstantiation of the bread and wine into His Body and Blood is truly a miracle that happens at mass. Truly, God is in our midst: we partake of Him every mass.

JEZEBEL!!

@mikelheron20 going along with this logic that parents would be much happier with women preists because of couse it was all them evil men that sexually abused the kids. Now I am by no means trying to make exuses for these terrible acts and the coverups that came with it but every feild is affected
mraNewfoundland 1 month ago
@mraNewfoundland by these things but we never hear about them don't we. Teachers rank high on the scale and when it comes to women who do this we never hear it called what it is sexual abuse, it will be call forbidden love or teachers naughty secret etc. For some reason if the sex of the abuser is female, we seem to think or we are conditioned to think she warrents less of a punishment because she is a women; where men are hung out to dry there is such a double standard.
mraNewfoundland 1 month ago
@mraNewfoundland I'm sure the role of women in child sex abuse has been under-represented but I'm struggling with your statement. You use the term "abuse" without qualifying.it. If we are going to include physical (non-sexual) abuse the stat is more believable. It is, after all - even in 2012 - women who do most of the parenting. My point was somewhat tongue in cheek and was more a comment about the Catholic Church than about the benefits of women priests.
mikelheron20 1 month ago
@mikelheron20 When I do mention abuse I will say that yes that includes all abuse of children when it comes to women. In 2005 the NSPCC did its study and found that the number of victims of women perpatrators was 5%. My point is that we automatically jump to the position that all priests (men) are rapists with your thought. Well that would be inline with feminist think these days but I reject that position, and stereotype. I will say that any abuse no matter the sex of the perp is heinous.
mraNewfoundland 1 month ago

(Published in the Guardian following Plymouth Nursery Case).
mikelheron20 1 month ago
@mikelheron20 If my comments were misleading I am sorry that was not my intention. Again abuse whether it be sexual or otherwise is absolutly terrible. When I see instances of men not matter the profession being the target of blanket accusations I react to them.
There are always the few bad apples that will ruin it for the lot and that goes pretty much for any feild. Although when it happens in the Church I am always the more disappointed even more so when it is covered up.
mraNewfoundland 1 month ago
@mraNewfoundland I didn't think we were discussing whether abuse is terrible or not - of course it is. That's a given. My only question was about the numbers of female abusers compared to the number of men. Your statement that there are more or less equal numbers seemed implausible to me and contradicted stats that I've read. Catholicism is, in my view, a source of evil. A religion that teaches that AIDS is bad but the use of condoms is worse has no place in a civilised world. That's abusive too.

Reject this and you reject Christ.

who is the pope to interfere with Gods call to women to be priests? God is calling some women to the priesthood. Pope! stop interfering with Gods work!
bearnurse1 7 months ago
@bearnurse1 Just because you 'wanna be a priest' does not mean you can violate Holy Scripture and Sacred Tradition in the process. It is proceeding with the supposed 'calling' that you are conflicting with God.
assasincomedy 6 months ago

DeathToTheseWalls 8 months ago
Also just because Canon 849 says includes Holy Orders as a sacriment obtainable from Holy Baptism, it doesn't just mean the" Eternal Priesthood", it can mean becoming a nun. You can argue that Vatican II allows it since we all become "Universal" priests, but the "Universal" priesthood doesn't allow you and I to automaticly give the sacriments.

Miss if you would lend me your ears, you mention that 70% of Catholics believe there should be woman priests, but you forget that 90% don't even go to mass, so your source, being that its from non practicing Catholics, is proposterous.

the Pope should excommunicate all the women who want and are priest in the roman catholic church and those male priest and bishops who ordain them.

Something tells me that if these women started their own womens priest church, no one would pay any attention to them
PInk77W1 9 months ago
First off: Women will never be priests, plain and simple. If you don't agree or understand why, take a second to study the faith or change religions.
Second: The catechism doesn't contradict itself, women can be called to holy orders, it's called "nuns".
P.S. Men can't be nuns but whens the last time you heard us protest about it.

PZMedic 9 months ago

CatholicsRock1 9 months ago
Through the Sacrament of Baptism ALL are ministers including women. BUT only men are allowed into the Sacramental Priesthood. Mary was the closest person to Jesus, yet he did not choose her to be one of the 12 (all of whom were male) the only account of women in a higher form of ministry is the Deaconess in Acts who was not ordained, thus was not clergy, but laity. Since Christ chose only men to pass on his power to drive out sin and take away demons, you can not deny that it was the

swinfordable 9 months ago
@swinfordable Yeah??? Peter also denied even knowing Jesus three times. I think its time the Church loosens up a bit. What's wrong with awoman wishing to celebrate the Lord and Savior Jesus to the full extent that a man can, simply because men were His disciples? If I remember correctly men also betrayed Him, put him on trial, and crucified him. Tell me one verse out of the Roman Catholic Bible that clearly states "Women are not to be ordained priests".
sweets4ever1 9 months ago
@sweets4ever1 who said that it had to be from the Bible? The practice belongs to Tradition. By the way, those sins that you mention make no difference on whether you can be a priest or not. Everybody sins.

Unjust laws? Such a matter of misunderstanding. Now look, this law isn't in place for the purpose discriminating. This lady's research is good, and to be honest, this is a topic the Church should give more serious conversation too. Still, if you think the Church only ordains males for the sack of discrimination or because the Church "blames the fall more on women" then you are not truly seeking to understand the Church's stance.

2201dmp 10 months ago
The Catholic Church is not discriminating against women... I understand times have changed but the Catholic Church doesnt wavor in times or with the secular world... JPII said we cannot ordain women priest because Christ only ordain men. Mary wasnt at the last supper which was the instituion of the Priesthood We dont have teh authority to ordain women priest Jesus ordained men not women if it were important to ordain women he would have done so Jesus was the son of God what he did what was right

Accept your gender, you are females. God gave us different roles and we should not have the pride to question His judgement. Stop wasting your time and find something productive to do with yourselves.
wishourselvesaway 10 months ago
@wishourselvesaway Why should women have to be subordinate to men? Holy Baptism makes us all equal in the eyes of God. If a woman can fulfill the duties of a priest as well as a man, why should she be kept away from the ministry? Women feel the call to be a priest just as strongly as a man. The discrimination and second-class treatment of women needs to stop.
ilove2run89 10 months ago

It's nothing to do with genitalia. It's about authority. Jesus observed authority. That's why he was baptized. That's why he was crucified.
Pride can sometimes cause weak people to reject God-given authority for their minority concept of 'justice'.

Why do you denigrate the life long work, dedication and study, knowledge of these women.
They are NOT women who just "put" vestments on!
They have spent their lives devoted to the church, study, work, efforts, and are examined by superiors.
They for sure know a lot more than even some male priests in church from what I see.
Romans Catholic Women Priests and other related websites are on the web. Don't comment without knowing their life and mandate.
coolwater55 11 months ago
@coolwater55 These are indeed women who have simply confused wearing the vestments with having actual authority.
I know exactly what their mandate is; a self- mandate.
I object to their posturing because it is schismatic and I love the Church. Incidentally, I have no philosophical or theological objection to female priests. I simply object to these proud upstarts who seem unable to accept the authority of the Mother Church.
harveytg 11 months ago
@harveytg
"Proud upstarts"? Wow, women in their elder years who devoted their lifes to Christ an learning the faith.
I would say you have an unusual notion of what an upstart is.
"Posturing"? they are hiding nothing.
They do NOT have to accept the authority of the "Vatican".
"Mother Church"? since when. it is and has always been a "Father" MALE" LED Church.
Time for balance.
But they know to make headway they do it in schism for now.
coolwater55 11 months ago
@harveytg
Then the advocate comes.
coolwater55 11 months ago
Lastly, celebrate the mass with dignity and reverence by wearing the proper vestments. Show to the whole world that you CAN be priests, and can do what priests can do. The mass is never a circus. It demands solemnity from everyone. And you say women priests don't have obedience vows. But you have bishops? Where does the jurisdiction and authority of these bishops come from? And bishops would not come to the picture if there are not priests publicly saying vows of obedience to him/her.
studentquestor 1 year ago
@studentquestor
With all due respect, mind telling us where Jesus says to worry about what we wear when worshiping and honouring God?
This is how we see Jesus thoughts about what we wear.
Matthew 6:25
"25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat (or drink), or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?"
coolwater55 1 year ago
@coolwater55 We may have dissenting views on the priesthood, but we are both Roman Catholics right? We believe in Sacred Tradition, as well as saints. St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Priests (sure, he's male, but women priests can learn a lot from his spirituality. Since you are a "budding" group, you need all the help, inspiration and formation you can) invested a lot in his vestments, because as I have said, appropriate things for the appropriate occasion.
studentquestor 1 year ago
The Pope has this kind of teaching authority, as the supreme pastor of the Catholic Church. But of course, with the Catholic Church more "sensible" than it were centuries before, the pope would not issue statements that would contradict the sense of the faithful. In bureaucratic terms, he needs to be "professional". Whatever the pope is saying in his letters or encyclicals may not be infallible, but at the same time just confirming longheld traditions and the sense of the faithful.
studentquestor 1 year ago
@studentquestor
But why worry about these women who you say are wearing vestments like curtains?
coolwater55 1 year ago
@coolwater55 I know, and believe me, I am also disgusted by those perversions in the mass. Both of us will agree that we should exhibit proper decorum and attire at mass. And even if you have disagreements with the Catholic Church with regards to its teaching on women priests, you consider yourselves as Catholics still right? Therefore, you should be subject to the same rubrics of mass that has been held for many centuries.
But seriously, where do you get those vestments?
studentquestor 1 year ago
@coolwater55 My point is that if these women priests are ordained by bishops, then certainly they are part of the hierarchy, and subject themselves to that hierarchy of priesthood. So they should have a vow of obedience to someone higher in the hierarchy.
"But they still have a right to worship Christ as they see fit." Sure, but they can no longer be labeled as "Roman" Catholics because they dissociate themselves from the authority of the See of Peter in Rome.
studentquestor 1 year ago
@studentquestor
But, in Canada, we have Catholic Network for Womens Equality.
anotheronem 1 year ago
@anotheronem Not quite also. I object to the whole celebration of the liturgy of these women priests. I have watched many videos here in Youtube of their "masses", you know, trying to hear their/your cause. But I was disappointed. Their host looks like a large bread, and they have different modes of ordination. They alter words, and do not have proper gestures during the Consecration. I can go on, but I think you can get my point.
studentquestor 1 year ago
@studentquestor
How about that? think that is intimidation or what?
anotheronem 1 year ago
@anotheronem I am not worrying about tradition and pomp and ceremony. I am a simple man, I want to cut to the chase. But simply the Mass, the memorial of what happened in Calvary, is not simple. The same way that Jesus' Passion, Death and Resurrection is not simple. Many things take place in the mass. The transsubstantiation of the bread and wine into His Body and Blood is truly a miracle that happens at mass. Truly, God is in our midst: we partake of Him every mass.
