I saw them open for Loverboy in May 1982 - this guy could really sing. Their other song "Without You" was part of the soundtrack that made up Summer of '82. Watching this makes me sad as music really sucks ass these days - can we get back to playing melodies?
Saw them at Chicagofest circa 1981 -- great song. Very few acts sound this good and pure live, especially without tons of processing/pitch correction/etc.
Saw these guys at Penn State on the HUB lawn in 1981. They were touring in support of their first album. They were so tight and in the pocket that we wouldn't let them leave the stage. They ran out of material to do, and Franke yelled out, "We don't know any more f****** songs!" So they did songs they had already performed, and we didn't care. Simply amazing. Notice that this lineup has everybody singing. You don't see much of that anymore...
Feckin' TIGHT band. I've always loved this song. It's a shame you can't find anything on Franke Previte of recent. i'd love to know what this guy is up to today.
I heard this on a interview spot light with lead singer on KLOS as it was released. The first album is fantastic and available on CD. Go to Half.com and you won't believe what you can get on CD as little as 4.95.
Franke and the Knockouts' biggest single, "Sweetheart," was written by Previte and Guitarist Billy Elworthy and became a Top 10 hit in 1981, peaking at #10 in the U.S. They also wrote and released the original versions of Eric Carmen's 1987 hit single "Hungry Eyes" as well as the song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," (both of which were featured in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing). Previte would later be an Academy Award winner. - These guys rock!

Es una espectacular cancion, siempre estara dentro de mis mejores recuerdos...It is a spectacular song, you will always be in my best memories...THAT GOOD SONG..!!!
I heard about this guy on XM Radio! Wow! Awesome song and great Live performance - these guys like a lot of older stuff sound so much better than the shit out today! Love it! Thanks a million for posting!
Great song, and an impressive performance. I concur with what some others have said - too bad today's acts are what they are. Older stuff is so much better.
Thank you sooooo much whoever put this video on. This is the group at it's best. Besides the fact that this is my all time favorite song, seeing Franke singing it live instead of a lip-synched video is awesome. I wonder if Franke or the guys ever check out these videos on youtube. If only it was still 1981, the music was so much better back then.
When music made you FEEL something...From times when we had true talent, actual musicians who could JAM & real live bands! (remember those?) lol...shit
Today's de-volved corporate matrix "music" pantomimes couldn't pull a groove like this off to save their lives. They'd have to fake lip sync to backing tracks. Besides, why worry about 'practice' when you could have robo DANCE TROOP DJ fashionistas hopping up & down gyrating on stage to pulsating lights+ "hi-tech" computerized video FX....*fart*
I didn't know Andy Kauffman was such a good singer!

Some great performances on Fridays. This, and Journey's 'Where Were You" aer two of the best.
Seems like the musical guests were always more interesting than the show itself. I used to tune in just for the music.

@pogotwister Thank you for your comment! Seeing Franke perform this live is 1000% better than that lame record label produced music video, IMO! ;-)

These guys are every bit as good as Ambrosia or Atlanta Rhythm Section. Too bad they didn't go farther. Super talented. A fan for life.
