  • 2:36 - 2:52 makes me feel good!

  • So how should a bass be played? Music has always been and always will be about tearing up the rule book :)

  • Just GOLD!!!!!!!

  • Flea: " God sent me to the world to show the people how to play the bassguitar"

Victor Wooten: "i can't remeber doing or saying such a thing"

  • Totally thinking of doing this for my HSC, so inspirational!

  • xoxoxo

  • Guy's...

I very much amazed with him..

I'm want to see him than say hello..

    anyone can me ??

  • Could someone please tell me whether and where I can find this tune, to play on my mp3 player? Is it on an audio recording? ... I've fallen in love with this tune...

  • @tackyacky This tune is on Vic's solo album 'What Did He Say?' from 1997. It's out of print so MP3 download may be the way to go. If you're lucky you can get a used copy for fairly cheap though.

  • @jmillzz2 Thanks!

  • @tackyacky Google a Video to MP3 converter, and copy the URL from this page into the converter box. Follow the directions it gives you, and voila'. Put it into your iTunes library. It works, trust me.........

  • @caarwatkins Thanks! I'll try what you say!

  • omg. chills all over.

  • this is true feeling cholo

  • 6 people live in a Third World Country where music is outlawed and think a bass is just a fish......

  • Unbelievable feeling, what a sound!

  • da truth

  • this goes beyond bass, beyond guitar, beyond music. This is pure emotion. Only Wooten

  • 6 people can't play harmonics

  • 6 people disliked the bass god

  • I love victor wooten because of his ability to play Bass with both emotion and rhythm. He affects my approach to music not just on bass, but on every instrument I play. I have a friend who's father knows the family...I'm going to see if I can get a letter of introduction.

  • Awesome :D

  • MEU DEUS...ESTE CARA É BOM MESMO! SEM DÚVIDAS!

  • you know... sometimes I laugh. but then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • @ltolleyyyy

sometimes i give a fuck, but then i realised you have no freinds.

  • @ltolleyyyy ... Forever Alone ...

  • Love Victor Wooten...awesome!!

  • How does he do the laughing sounds with a BASS!!!

  • How does he do this??!! I bet there are just like 5 bass players behind the scene

  • he use loops

  • @tomaspepino explains hehe

  • He record diferent loops himself, and he use its in playback, the armonics and bass lines.

Victor is an awesome bass player, but some things are imposible to do, and this music is supossed to be for lisent in cd, like white album from beattles.

Sorry my english, isnt my native lenguage.

  • So cool .

  • Those harmonics! Beautiful.

  • I think all the Wooten brothers are from the future.

  • Goo god..what is he,realy what is HE?! aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh

  • @SectorSeventyseven He's not soloing... he's grooving ;)

  • This is incredibly beautiful victor is a god

  • 6 people are fagots

  • @nargoon1 be nice, they just don't understand

  • Назвать лучшим не рискну, но в 20е присутствует -точно.

  • This is without doubt the most beautiful thing I've heard Victor play. This is magic.

  • this for some reason freaked me out but i love victor

  • i made a song in this style, go check it out man :D

  • Simplicity is maturity, and this heavenly masterpiece by Victor Wooten proved that. He is one of my favorite inspiring musician and always will be. :)

  • 6 people never laugh

  • esse cara é de mais victor wooten

  • what album is this on?

  • i think this is my favorite by him, does any one know if this is actually a track on one of his cds

  • @drjessepjohnson it's on "what did he say?"

  • @m4shir0 thank you

  • 2:18 "you're silly."

And you're fucking interrupting the groove, woman! *backhands*

  • the laughter is freaking distracting -_-

  • If this was a backing track to my life, everything would just flow nicely... this really does take me elsewhere... amazing.

  • Six people are guitar players who don't think the bass should be played this way.

  • @WarPigsLukesWall

    stupid comment man -___-'

  • @WarPigsLukesWall im a guitar player and i love the way he plays his bass

  • @GuruRobertDavies Then I commend you on your fine tastes.

  • @WarPigsLukesWall classical guitarists probably, no offence!

  • they weird thing is that i have only seen him on 4string, while everyone is playing a 5or6 you really dont need to though, victor wootern proves this.

  • sin palabras!! un exelente tema por dioss! :D

  • I don't know why, but when I listen to this sometimes I cry.

  • He is not just a bass player he is a bass god

  • Anybody know a good way to start learning his style of finger placement?

  • @evravon22 ask his girlfriend

  • @5150thornton LMAO.

  • @5150thornton She's dead.

  • 'Course, yet the gear still helps. I just got an Aria Pro 2 :D - this bass is awesome! I can now play a lot of things I couldn't play before.

  • In an old instructional dvd i have, Vic said referring to his gear that he just explained that he was using at the time, "its the musician , not the gear that makes the music, if you took away michael jordan's shoes, he would still a great basketball player."

  • @getgoodusa yeah but if you take away Michael Schumacher's formula 1 car ? ;)

  • music at its perfection

  • I just read the title in Bobby Lee's voice.

  • the song is actually called "Sometimes I laugh [when I see people try and play bass]

  • This man has unlocked his instrument's potential to its fullest. This song is clear evidence that bass is a perfectly valid solo instrument

  • sneeze at 1:16 ?

  • wow... is an exelent compositor... if i were sad.. this song would make me cry... it's beautiful.

  • I think this illustrates how bass can be a solo instrument

all bass instruments are far underestimated on that aspect I think

you'd like to check out other virtuoso bass instrument players: the bass tuba player of youngblood brass band is a real master on his instrument :)

  • I can feel the title of this song through the music =) can any other musician feel the vibe from the song?

  • @aurasky24 it helps when there are people laughing through the recording :p

  • Six people are guitarist that don't think bass should be played this way.

  • @Fretless19942 im a guitarplayer, and this is exactly how bass should be played.

  • @Fittknulliarslet And you are right my friend, I think you can play any instrument anyway.

  • Beautiful

  • thumbs up if you're not a bass player

  • Can Somebody Tell Me What This Song Means To You?

For Me Means Hapiness_More Especificly Little Kids Laughing _Just Beautifull...

  • Most Of People Dont See How Great And Beautifull The Bass Could Be, Its A Very Very Expresive Instrument, For Me The Best Because You Can Use It Just Like A Bass, Like An Harmonic Instrument Like The Guitar Or Both Like You Can See

    Victor Wooten The Best...

  • @IsaacPowerBass Why I sAY lIKE sO mANY tIMES=?

  • Wow, i never imagined something like this to be played with "just" a bass. I play bass by myself but i never heard such a sound.

  • @OasisCherryjuice182 had the same exact reaction when i first discovered vic. saw him live with stanley clarke and marcus miller. was absolutely amazing.

  • Deshalb spiel ich bass

  • this so much more fun then video games!

  • Hi kat

  • Absolutely stunning! Some times I think the laughter of the kids could be left out, but it's somehow a part of the essence of this masterpiece... VERY good job... Beautiful

  • soy musico gracias a el y creo que todo el amor que ese humano pueda sentir simplemente se transmite con sus 4 cuerdas

  • DON'T LAUGH, HE'S TRYING TO PLAY A GODDAMN SOLO

  • very nice!

  • Gracias Dios por haber traído a este Genio al Mundo!!! Desde Argentina mi profunda admiración y agradecimiento por tanta belleza!!!!!!!!

  • I love this master piece. It's like a musical version of Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa.

  • Can anyone guide me to where one can find more instrumental music just like in this particular video? I suppose I can describe it as soothing guitar urban jazz music.

  • @Kyuutai um some of marcus miller's stuff i'd say free and boomerang by him but they have vocals but still very smooth and calming and look up gerald veasley 6 string electric bass incredible smooth jazz. hope you enjoy

  • Well im at my 1 year annerversery of starting to play bass

And im now moving on to Victor wooten

    This is really hard haha

  • @pps234 : You need to get a JAm Man pedal board....... Up to four basslines at one time.

  • God. This is amazing

  • he is amazing because he is original and creative and musical and genial, and a MATURE MUSIC PLAYER, and he is blessed from God becouse it s not normal to play like him, God bless you Victor, and keep going!!

  • when did victor write this?

  • @pianolicious134 I would be asking HOW he wrote it, this one of the most amazing things ive ever heard in my life. where someone could come up with the things he does is beyond me....

  • @thepwnagebarbarian I completely agree. Not only is he a superb musician, but one of the nicest people i've ever met.

  • What exactly is he using as a capo in the picture? I'm confused.

  • @blarg4847 It's not a capo, it's a hair scrunchy thing. It's to mute the lower part of the strings you're tapping for a cleaner sound.

  • Practice dude, thats the in thang.....

  • just amazing ...

  • GOd given talent comes naturally..I have that..BUt now im practicing and learning theory to know what im playing. Anyone can take lessons and learn, after years and years you may get what God gave me in a month.. BUt yes still thank God because he gave you the ability to learn. And trust me, You can hear the difference in a person who learned or is simply technical and a person who has it naturally.. But both are great!! god bless

  • @coso9 You seem to have alot of confidence to say that god gave you the skills to play the bass...

You said someone could learn to play the bass like you can after years and years of training but you learned in 1 month? sorry to say but i think that whoever puts their heart into something can learn how to play or do something within a month. its not a god given gift... its about you and how hard you believe and trust in yourself.

Im not a believer of god - just wanted to make that clear.

  • @TheArkhangelsk Whats up man..You are correct.. It is about you and how hard you believe and trust in yourself.. Maybe i should say...natural talent, or some people are just born with it.. my 8 year old neice literally sings better than plenty of adults i know who takes lessons..its Natural.. Thats all im saying.. but yes you still have to put the time in to groom and tighten things up..

  • @coso9 Well not correct meybe, but i for some reason i just had to say what i said.

Didnt mean to be rude or anything just so you know :)

But yea i understand what you mean, maybe it was the "god" thing that made me a little "angry" of sorts since i dont believe in him.

And i also believe that some are born with some sort of talent, not everyone can hear the differrence between a clear note and a false without training for example (luckily me i was born with that skill :P).

  • GOd given talent comes naturally..I have that..BUt now im practicing and learning theory to know what im playing. Any can take lessons and learn, after years and years you may get what God gave me in a month.. BUt yes still thank God because e gave you the ability to learn. And trust me, You can hear the difference in a person who learned or is simply technical and a person who has it naturally.. But both are great!! god bless

  • Amazing talent can only be appreciated.

  • There is some really poor writing in some of these comments. Go Vic!

  • in regards to genesis epicenter, your right! music is a language of the soul not a theory but remember that some people are good their whole lives and never get to play but music is all around you if you listen right they were probably playing the whole time

  • everyday after work come home, chill on your fav chair, put on the headphones close your eyes and listen to this, you will remember that when we were children we used to laugh and smile at the world all the time.

  • God has every thing to do with it you would not be alive ifgod did not want you to ba you should be greatfull o and god bless yopu and your family one day you will understand that God loves u

  • Music isnt like that stupid theory about algae turning into humans, some people play their whole lives and never get good lol.

  • Hmm.... Gloria a Dios

  • Very nice...

  • man this song is the bomb God has blest this man with a heavenly talent God blest you

  • @gamy1024 That's millions of hours playing, not God. God has nothing to do with his talent

  • @fefiss86 honestly, yeah a big part is practice, but its a God given talent, and i bet if you ask Victor he says god played a role in it too.

  • @AndrewFrickenReiss

So, im practising music hours every single day, my grades are lowered since i started playing music because i practice all the time and im getting better and better.

If i someday become a famous musician, are u then telling me that i should put my thank in "GOD!!?", and give him the responsebility because he gave me talent. Some god could have given me all the talent in the world. Using it is my responsebility, non other's.

  • @ddddddennis i agree with you, it is your choice to use your talents...but still, im not going to sit here and preach to you but i personally owe my life more to than just me and my parents....like i told robbie,,,victor can fuckin jam...point being that. agreed?

  • @AndrewFrickenReiss the point is nether if i can jam ore not? because he can jam no arguing about that :D but why he can jam :)

and thats not because of god, ore any other holy power. but because he practised playing bass before he remembered himself doing it, and because hes family was very musical, he was learning music from the second he entered this world :) point being that.. we are agreeding :)

  • @AndrewFrickenReiss

If a person hasn't got th ability to sing, but then they take lessons and over years and years, they develop a sense of pitch and their voice gains a resonance, and they can sing, then is it still God even though they weren't born with the talent, or is it just creditable to the person who learned and devoted their time to it?

  • @robbieofdoom in that case its not god given talent, its hard earned talent..and the two are totally different........point is this dude has talent, CAn we just Leave it at that?

  • awesome, I love this song

  • lo que consigue con esa goma es apagar el sonido de las notas que no quiere que suene. (hasta los maestros se equivocan)

    :D

  • least creepy use of children in song ever. this mans genius can not be over stated.

  • para que es el elástico que le a puesto en el mástil del bajo?

  • I got to see Victor in Banff recently and it has changed my life. I honestly believe he is deeper than the ocean. what really makes me smile is his common touch and the fact that he is where he is and I can't see any arrogance. Thanks for all you have given us Mr Wooten :)

  • The emotional power in this song is just something else entirely.... It transcends regular music and even his other pieces. Truly a masterpiece, crafted by an icon.

Like if you could listen to this all day :D

  • is there anymore songs like these?

  • Victor Wooten has trully mastered the art of the bass guitar. An absolute legend.

  • This takes me somewhere...

  • These songs got power to build a life...

  • from what album is this??? excellent song

  • beautiful

  • I just cant see Victor laughing in this song.. Its more like his wife doesnt wanna have sex tonight so he sneaks off into the bathroom like HAHA I dont need her anyways! This wooden carving of boobs will do just fine...

  • Some times I laugh at how disgraceful music is today, then this exists and literally destroys that world with it's amazingness.

  • @Siberianhusky89 Right on brother - it keeps your faith that there's still quality out there... I just wish more people could experience this...

  • @Keegan3005

Ai. I wish people would do more than just experience it. I wish they'd understand and cherish it.

  • Read Vic's book "The Music Lesson". The key aspect here is "musician" not bass player. Vic and those like him would sound equally as good no matter what instrument they chose to play. As we know, anyone can devote time to learning an instrument and get good at it but it takes a real passionate understanding of music to become a true musician and create masterpieces as represented in this recording.

  • @marconius3000 The words of true wisdom.

  • @marconius3000 I aspire to be like Vic in a lotta ways. Not just my playing. :P

  • @marconius3000 But still, look at that bass, man! Strings so perfectly close to the frets, great pickups, silky-smooth neck...I'd kill with that bass, instead I have to sorta half-kill with my pathetic made-in-China discount Harley Benton. /sigh I wish I'd have the money.

  • @KryoWarrior, you are right, the instrument is essential to professional performance - just like the clubs and balls the pros use in golf, or the bats and MLB balls (those things are JUICED), or the pro soccer balls that will launch right off your foot, or the paneled basketball court that helps you defy gravity... Nonetheless, my bass sucks and Vic would freaking OWN IT.

  • that is... if I sold it to him.

  • just a master of bass and expression

  • this is breathtaking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • que musica mas bella !

  • @JavierSaavedraGuitar this version has somethig like 8 tracks of bass looped, but he also has a stand alone version which is the pretty much this without all the backings

  • he uses loops right

  • @itsapns yes, quite commonly i believe
