A: Aluminium works the best

B: Has to be a PARABOLIC..NOT a BOWL shaped object

C: the parabolic reflects ALL of the signal into the center focal point aprox 3/4 away from the back. (measure diameter of bowl, 3/4 of that is the focal point) ever burn ants with a magnifying glass? welll.. bingo... thats where the wifi device goes. lol

The size and shape worked just as good for me using a triple folded tinfoil, formed by pressing into a kitchenaid mixing bowl. Mine is actually a bit larger than the strainer. Instantly from 2 to 6mbs to 24 average and 7 signals instead of 2. Then some wire framing, tape and a spring clamp on a camera tripod to hold and aim the dish.

@jeremyfinch What this video shows actually works, but you have to use a programm like NetStumbler or inSSIDer and find the best position of the WiFi antenna, that's because the adapter has a omnidirectional antenna, and adding the strainer will make it a directional antenna, then, you have to find the best position for your AP

I mounted my wifi adapter and mounted it at the focal point of a 22" sattelite dish and pointed it at my neighbors (who let us leech) and was able to tune it with a simple desktop db reception tool +10 db through glass, and most of the neighbors house... well +db on reception.... this didn't do enough for the transmission from my usb stick, so we still had connection problems. I assume this method would have the same limits to it's effectiveness...
