It's actually a GREAT pedal if the controls are used right, and it sounds best with its Overdrive low or off. The differences between Modes I and II are more noticeable when run clean, though still subtle.
Mode I sounds like a Leslie with a slightly backed-off mic, with more Doppler-efect pitch-modulation.
Mode II sounds more like a close-miced Leslie, hence the more tremolo-like amplitude-modulation.
Set the balance just a bit to the Horn-side with Effect high and Direct low or off for classic Leslie sounds, or roll it back towards the Bass and mix in more Direct for classic Fender/Leslie Vibratone sounds.
Switching speeds really brings out the best of this pedal, not only for dramatic effect, but also causing the virtual Bass-baffle and Treble Horn-turntable to get slightly out of sync as they speed up and slow down non-uniformly, resulting in fantastic, complex Doppler and tremolo warbling as the baffle and horn sounds effectively 'rub' against each other.
Note that pressing both pedals simultaneously when the effect is on engages a "Brake", gradually stopping the virtual rotors til both are aligned "facing forward" together; pressing the right-side pedal will then start the rotary motion again, going to either the Slow or Fast pre-sets, depending on which one was last selected prior to stepping on the Brake.
Mode IV, the "Uni-V" Uni-Vibe sim, sounds best with the Balance turned towards the Horn side, like around 3:00-O' Clock; also best with faster Slow and slower Fast speed-presets, or an expression-pedal connected to control speed. Sounds great clean or with a little or moderate amount of Overdrive.
yea... way too much time with the unboxing and the tone is very buzzy and lame. If you know how a Univibe sounds, then tweak it to sound like it... it sounded nothing like one... a UNI has a very vocal tone... like it's saying "HEYARRRHEYYARRR" and the tone that came out of that was a lame phase tone.
Oh my God, somebody finally got it right! There's nothing I love more than watching somebody open up a box and look through the manuals. Maybe next time you could read the whole manual out loud before getting to the boring part about how the device sounds. Maybe even read the Japanese and Spanish parts of the manual too. That would be great.
After spending half the video looking at the book, he still doesn't get the modes right! This was funny - we laughed at the guy the whole time! Worst reviewer I've ever seen.
@FranzHannez you liked that distortion? I could make you a better one from an transistor radio! that was saw-tooth city... no valvey tone, no dynamics... just nasty transistors farting in unison.
Where's Andy when you need him? I'm not one to jump to criticize, but this has to be the worst demo by a supposedly reputable outfit in the history of online razzies. Now we have a great idea of what the paperwork looks like and a vague idea of how this pedal sounds when you play an E chord on the various settings.Yippee skip. Do better or don't do.
Why in god's name do you people spend half of every single gear demo going through every piece of literature that comes in the box? Stop. No one appreciates it. You know it, and I know it. Just stop.
Your gear demos are the equivalent of a car review where the reviewer spends 2/3rds of the review rifling through the glove box and talking about the paper that the instruction manual was printed on. Stop rifling through the glove box and drive the damn car.
WOW! I was just about to say the same thing --- Who cares about watching someone take something out of the box--- it's not just this video -- a lot do this -- sort of frustrating
Looks so cool. Its so tweakable. Has all the ins and outs you could ever want, you can even control it with an expression pedal. But it still sounds so digital and sterile.

Mode III is supposed to sound like a vintage Marshall AMP- not speaker- DRIVING a Leslie speaker-cabinet.

I appreciate you going through the unboxing details and the manuals. Please ignore the jaded jackoffs.
Thanks for giving me as close to an ownership experience as I'm going to get for now. Don't change a thing about your reviews.
