  • Would band like this succes this days? With that classical hint, and the playing skills? Would ELP, Yes, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull become succesfull today?

  • Cool Band. Kind of a cross between ELP and DEEP PURPLE.

  • GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • used to watch this glasgow band In the Bobby Jones in Ayr Scotland

where did the years gow this was my favourite track

  • Cool I have all their Vertigo output. Of interest too is that guitarist Ricky Gardiner went on to play with Iggy Pop (The Idiot & Lust For Life albums + toured in his band) and David Bowie (Low era).

  • Martin Griffiths had an incredibly good voice.

  • Never heard of these guys(and gal) before. AWESOME. But what's with the guy in yellow? The credits list a vocalist, but all he does is jump around like a hyperactive kid.

  • I never thought I could watch Beggars Opera Video. Thanks for the nice upload.

  • Thats a copy of The Nice. Booh!

  • I had all of Begarrs opera albums from # 1970 Act One

    # 1971 Waters of Change

    # 1972 Pathfinder

    # 1973 Get your Dog off Me!

    # 1974 Sagittary

    # 1979 Beggars can't be Choosers

    # 1980 Lifeline

For me the best prog rock band ever :)

  • Wondeful to see this video! Thank you very much> I was lucky to see the guys 3 times in early 70s in Edinburgh. Stunning band - incredible musicianship - but what is more incredible is the fact that they didn't make it as big as The Nice!

Sad, because their talent was equal to the Nice and as an act -they were every bit as exciting.

However, their albums are still beautiful, quality items.

God bless their Cotton Socks!---- Kenny, fife

  • @flyfifer51 thanks for nice comment,agree w/ya 100 %,cheers!

  • whoa

  • I never new the amish were so good on the drums

  • One of the greatest jams i've ever witnessed.:)

  • right on. love it!! thanks for post.

  • Proge on its very best! Even some Sibelius in it!!! Yes, I do like!

  • Bell'esempio di PROG-SINFONICO....somigliano agli ELP e agli Yes...Bravi!

  • According to Beggars vocalist Martin Griffiths, the band recorded about five songs for this show, as was the case with most of the groups who appeared. Maybe the remaining footage will turn up.

  • This almost brings tears to my eyes when the guitar comes in.

  • best line up of an always changing band (1970 to 1979) They recorded "waters of change". That album belongs to my personal top 50 list ! I´m sad that I will never see a video of them performing some w.o.ch. stuff....

  • What an amazing guitarist!

  • Yeah! ...and Mike Leckebusch was the man!

  • They were incredible...!

  • lo tiene todo, incluso la madre de Tina Fey está tocando el melotrón, ¿ o es Rosa León?

  • muziek, zoals muziek bedoelt is...gewoon mooi

  • Can you guys tell me some songs or bands of this style? like rondo and this song, this kind of music to be so high jajajajaja

  • its great to see them "LIVE"

  • Great to see Beggar's opera again. It is difficult trying to track down their CDs. Raymond's Road was always a favourite!

  • Last time I saw this magnificent band was at a Glasgow Uni student rave 39 years ago magic!

  • Awesome !!!

Reminds me a little of ELP's Rondo and Deep Purple's Space Truckin'

  • @rejrockmetal - I think you mean The Nice's Rondo

  • Fantastic song!!! I love the Act One album

  • I feel ashamed..., I had one of the two albuns availble in Brasil many years ago. I didn´t buy it! Very, very good!

  • I like the Vertigo 'swirl/spiral' logo/graphic in the background. Can I get one for my music room?

  • Thank God for German TV. If it weren't for them we'd have hardly any surviving TV footage at all of the great British prog bands of that time.

    Thanks again Germany.

  • So true...I've just bought a 8 DVD set of the Beat Club - it's the best rock footage I've ever seen...and I've seen a hell of a lot.

  • @Unhalfbricked Absolutly agree. Thanks to BeatClub, Köln and BrehmenTV. This take is fist time I saw BeggarsOpera after listen to the vinyl-album for 30 years and the CD the last 5 years. I love their symphonic style and their tecknical skills.

  • Hellz yea! These guys were fukin' awesome.

  • the chick playing the mellotron is hot.haha
