Cool concept you would have definitely got more positive views if you in the title said it was a "what if" fight, but probably less clicks. The only other thing that could have been done to improve it, is to have the right guy win :D. honestly BJJ wouldn't have been known to bruce, not at that level anyway, so he coudl have lost.. all in all I'd view bruce as the better athelete and fighter.
@jilow ,Bruce wouldnt have lost, he studied judo under Gene Lebell,and knew wrestling, and jiu-jitsu moves as well,he knew about locks on the ground,grappling isnt new,plus Bruce had kicks,punches,knees and elbows in his arsenal as well,lightning quickness and speed,he wouldve saw Royce trying to shoot in. That shoot in maneuver is done by Judo,jiu-jitsu,and wrestlers,nothing new there,the trick is countering that,and Bruce wouldve countered that easily.Bruce was too strong and fast!

The military is training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for a reason. Anderson Silva And Lyoto Machida have black belts in BJJ. Bruce Lee spent most of his life training on his feet. Sure, he spent a little time training in Judo with Gene LeBell but it wasn't enough. Bruce Lee would lose to Royce. He wouldn't know what to do on the ground. Everyone thinks Lee is this "mythical unbeatable" fighter because he's dead. Death can make someone seem "legendary and mysterious". LMAO

He wouldnt have "reformatted his approach" at all because he was constantly evolving his art. He would just flow with the go and add Jiu Jitsu sooner or later. It wouldnt take a defeat for him to add it. He would see its dominance and embrace it and add it to his style. His art was never set in stone so there is no such thing as "reformatting" for Bruce Lee.

This fight would've ended as soon as Royce clinched him against the fence. Bruce Lee doesn't know the first thing about clinching, wrestling, or groundfighting. Royce would've taken him down, Bruce would've done all he could and panicked, and Royce would've choked him. "BUT THAT'S NOT HOW FIGHTS WORK IN MOVIES!"

Arm triangles etc etc Bruce was a real martial artist who trained in multiple arts...something very rare in those days. He also used advanced(for the time) training methods for his cardio and strength etc etc
His movie fights were nothing like how he fought in real life. He said this himself and so did Dan Inosanto. Bruce said to Gene Lebell that he loves grappling and wants to show it in his movies but feared the audience wouldnt like it and prefer high kicks.

Wong Jack Man practiced wing chun and yeah, we all know how that does in the octagon, it sucks. Gene LeBell practiced judo and judo is a realistic good martial art but it needs to be heavily modified against a sweaty person with no shirt.

Jeet Kune Do never achieved anything in Vale Tudo/NHB and modern MMA.

At that time the methods to counter Brazilian Jie Jitsu were not developed yet. I seriously doubt that Bruce Lee can win a match against the 90s Royce Gracie (Now is old)..

@ANYNMYS2010. Gene LeBell was able to repeatedly take down Bruce Lee. On top of that, Lee had a hard time (30 minute fight) dealing with a random tai chi instructor in a fight. I'm a fan of Lee too, but he wasn't god.

example 2: there was an MMA match where a guy who knew kenpo karate kicked a ground grappler in the jaw, while the grappler tried to go for his legs. The result was again a knock out. Bruce Lee is also ten times faster than that guy.

Gracie won that one but the kenpo karate guy almost got him with the kick as royce took his legs. bruce lee woudn't have missed, since he's a lot faster than the guy on the video. lee developed a martial art called the intercepting fist. this was designed to intercept advances. i would propose a fight against chuck norris. he's good at intercepting forward movements too.
Bruce Lee was too fast for Royce Gracie. Gracie would have been punched and kicked many times and with great accuracy before he would get too close to Lee. It's a big mistake to try to go for Lee's legs. This video is a fantasy. I know because I have seen it beaten by others. There was a King of the cage match where a guy punched this type of fighter in the jaw before he could react and the result was a knock-out. Bruce Lee is ten times faster. He beat all styles, including ground grappling.
Unbelievable how so many can only wonder at who would win in a "caged fight." When I consider Lee I see a person who was unstoppable on every front. He went out on his own, new to a foreign country where the odds were against him, and became a huge success. The respect Bruce found in the martial arts community of his time says a lot about Bruce, the martial artist - No one was talking shit about him then. He is an original. He paved his own way. His intelligence and his talent are unmatched.

@DonnyCage - Bruce was 135 lbs, and could bench over 400. His reaction time and speed was tested and beat the best boxters, muy thai fighters, and martial artists of his time. Other fighters may be able to beat him but thats the name of the game when fighting in general. A single strike can change the tides of battle. Just as you say lee is over rated, royce is the same. Sakuraba beat him and hes an actor and pro wrestler.

He wouldnt have "reformatted his approach" at all because he was constantly evolving his art. He would just flow with the go and add Jiu Jitsu sooner or later. It wouldnt take a defeat for him to add it. He would see its dominance and embrace it and add it to his style. His art was never set in stone so there is no such thing as "reformatting" for Bruce Lee.

But when I saw how grappling and submission was most effective in a real fight and how Royce dominated the other fighters, I realized my idol Bruce Lee would get dominated once he was taken to the ground. example 2: there was an MMA match where a guy who knew kenpo karate kicked a ground grappler in the jaw, while the grappler tried to go for his legs. The result was again a knock out. Bruce Lee is also ten times faster than that guy.

Gracie won that one but the kenpo karate guy almost got him with the kick as royce took his legs. bruce lee woudn't have missed, since he's a lot faster than the guy on the video. lee developed a martial art called the intercepting fist. this was designed to intercept advances. i would propose a fight against chuck norris. he's good at intercepting forward movements too.

Bruce Lee was too fast for Royce Gracie. Gracie would have been punched and kicked many times and with great accuracy before he would get too close to Lee. It's a big mistake to try to go for Lee's legs. This video is a fantasy. I know because I have seen it beaten by others. There was a King of the cage match where a guy punched this type of fighter in the jaw before he could react and the result was a knock-out. Bruce Lee is ten times faster. He beat all styles, including ground grappling.

Unbelievable how so many can only wonder at who would win in a "caged fight." When I consider Lee I see a person who was unstoppable on every front. He went out on his own, new to a foreign country where the odds were against him, and became a huge success. The respect Bruce found in the martial arts community of his time says a lot about Bruce, the martial artist - No one was talking shit about him then. He is an original. He paved his own way. His intelligence and his talent are unmatched.

Where is a picture of Lee with his boxing trophies he won? He must have been pretty proud of them, and had a little stack of them. Where are the pictures of him fighting Elms? Oh, thats right, nobody took pictures in the fucking HONG KONG city wide high school boxing championships. I guess just nobody thought to bring a camera to their child's athletic event. Yeah, that sounds reasonable.

@DonnyCage - Bruce was 135 lbs, and could bench over 400. His reaction time and speed was tested and beat the best boxters, muy thai fighters, and martial artists of his time. He constantly tested himself against all varieties of fighters from kung fu to escrima masters. There is more footage of him fighting and demo'ing generally than any one else in that generation. Saying 'he doesn't have fight footage so he wasn't a fighter' is showing true ignorance on your part. Video doesnt a fighter make

guy you are contradicting yourself, you are saying you cant judge bruce lee due to not enough footage yet you judge him. you fail with in that statement. Also sakuraba was a pro wrestler, watch any pride video or look him up, he did jiu jitsu but he started as a pro wrestler. Only difference is that japanese pro wrestling is a bit more physically demanding than american pro wrestling. Debating with you is pointless, you have a pre- conceived thought and you cant fathom anything other than that.

Other fighters may be able to beat him but thats the name of the game when fighting in general. A single strike can change the tides of battle. Just as you say lee is over rated, royce is the same. Fighting cans in the early days that had no idea how to fight as a well rounded fighter doesnt make you good. There are far better fighters than royce and they have beat him. Sakuraba beat him and hes an actor and pro wrestler.

@donnycage as well as having many street fights he also beat three time boxing champion gary elms by knockout and a japanese black belt in 11 seconds in a full contact fight bruce was very much a real fighter he was a martial artist first and an actor second so please dont confuse the job with the man
