This one was probably the one that got the most airtime in the mid 90's. It's probably the least abstract and the most plot-driven one of all the shorts.
I guess that everyone here saw this video in their childhood (most on YTV like myself) and for some reson we get very emotional when viewing it...I avoid watching this video because I start crying every time. I guess that because, one, this video is so beautiful and I did not understand it as a child and second, it's one of the most predominant audio/visual memories that I have of my childhood :')
This does not need any words. This is simply enjoyable. Close your eyes, lay yourself on a bed and turn the music on. How would you feel? Everytime I hear this song I feel so happy. And the video makes it much better. wonderfull
We probably all have a copy of this VHS stuffed away in a lost box, never to be found for another 10 years..........I miss these times in our household.......
PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT to the creator of "The Mind's Eye". Yes, Odyssey had a collection of CGI demos, but "The Mind's Eye" was a MIRAMAR production by Emmy Award winning director JAN NICKMAN who spent thousands of hours exquisitely crafting them into a double platinum selling film considered to be a milestone in the field of computer animation. With a score by JAMES REYNOLDS, "The Mind's Eye" reached #12 on Billboard's video hits chart. PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT TO THE ARTISTS.
Oh my goodness!! :-D the songs makes me that I wanna be with someone while listing to this cute/romantic song ever!! As you notice the bird & the fish or in my case Stanley & Stella saw each other then when she kissed him, my heart totally melted for love!! Oh my gosh it's like falling in love all over again ...no wonder I'm such a romantic girl hehehe
Computer animation has come quite awhile before it took a major roll in today's cg movies. Thank you, Jax184. I'm not gonna even ask where or how you brought this on YouTube.
This is one of my most favourite mind's eye video ever!!!! It brings back so many memories when I watched this on Short Circuitz ever since I was a kid. Thanks for uploading this.
The short circutz segment was often better than the TV programs between which they were often interspersed. The "Love Found" was one of my personal favourites. I think I watched most of the YTV programming just for the shortz in between. (Except for Reboot, of course, that was good too.) Thank you for putting these all up here.
@ArchangelGMichel It's by James Reynolds and it's called Love Found. If you look around you might be able to find the soundtrack to The Mind's Eye for sale on CD. I bought a copy on ebay awhile back.
@Leviathan024 I kinda noted that in the description. That's the whole reason I went to the effort of tracking down these laserdiscs and digitizing them.
Because this has amazing symbolism. Not only can love break down barriers.. it can create a new world. I love it. Makes me all teary eyed too.. The first time I saw this I was about 7 I remembered the visuals totally different than I experience them now, but the feeling is the same.
"very nice work, I loved it when I saw it when I was young".I wrote in Spanish because I assumed that among those who saw this animation there are also people who speak another language (like Spanish) that is not only English .. . I hope now you understood ...
WOW! This is the one! I've been looking for " Love Found"... I love all the Minds Eye stuff, but this one is my fav.- Just didn't know the name. TY Jax184!- oh wait... I also see that it's called "Breaking the Ice", too... cool
WOW! This is the one! I've been looking for " Love Found"... I love all the Minds Eye stuff, but this one is my fav.- Just didn't know the name. TY Jax184!
2:06 - The ravenous bird swarm swoop in and devour the helpless fish. All you can hear in the background are the terrified screams as the fish are slaughtered and consumed one by one.
They used to play Short Circuits on YTV between the tv shows, but sometimes they were cut off before finishing. I was only ever able to see this one to the part where the bird is still dazed a little and sinking in the water. As a little kid, I always thought that he died to be with his love. It makes me irrationally happy to be able to see the ending and know not only do they both live, but both species can now share the same world. :)
@CleansWithRag Agreed! There is a personal touch to this piece that makes it special. Today everything is mass-produced for monetary reasons it seems. Little or no passion, except for Pixar.
I remember watching this on repeat on my grandfather's Laserdisc Demonstration CD.... sadly, with a better soundtrack. I can't believe this is on youtube. Thank you x 100000000 for this upload.
ive been able to find most of the short circuit clips here for a while now, but i havent seen this clip in 17 years! love the emotion and facial expressions on the fish and bird.

Great and completely timeless. The primitive animation makes it all the more amazing how expressive the characters are.
