  • No noodles?

  • @jobragaming... Get lost

  • my familly's always made this and called it the "poor mans lasagna" lol

  • where's the pasta sheets? I may have to post a video response with a vegan lasagne recipe :p

  • why didnt you use pasta

  • i just skiped thru the vidd but cant you just add the veggies raw wont they cook in the oven or do i have to precook them all.... i want to try and make this for the first time so i wanna try and get it right..... also i buy the stouffers veggie lasagna and love it u know how to make that one?????????

  • @missjoaquin4now i make lasagne with these vegetables all the time... they should cook in the oven, but be sure to season them :)

  • Yummm!

  • I tried it and it turned out really good.... Thanks for the video

  • Nice and simple going to try it soon

  • I am going to fix that but I will add pasta...thanks dude it looks good.

  • Thanks Jack! Now I'm hungry!

  • It drove me nuts that you left the last piece of veggie in the bowl! Just started watching, and now I am hooked!

  • you got a facebook jack? lol

  • great dish, but not really lasagna. lasagna needs the pasta strips. but it is great without it. perhaps call it eggplant parmagian, which would be very accurate, and also more wanted (too many lasagna recipes here already). Also, consider adding layers of fried mushrooms and some simple green olives to the mix

  • were is the pasta?

  • where is the pasta?

  • Jack, I love this recipe but I don't eat dairy products, what do I use instead of mozzarella cheese?

  • @Caribeanqueen79 then get the real lasagna pasta sheets and use that instead of the cheese layers.

  • use shredded daiya cheese. it's vegan. no dairy! :)

  • @Caribeanqueen79 I would suggest Daiya cheese it is almost just like cheese and unlike other vegan "cheese" it melts. Most pizza places actually use that on pizzas for vegan pizza.

  • I am vegitarian and always wanted to try this dish. I want to make it sometime.

  • Is it just me, or is vegetarian lasagna one of the most popular vegetarian recipies?

  • awesome jack skellington mug!! and awesome cooking show!!

  • YUUUM!!

  • I love the name "cooking with Jack" as it is reminiscent of the idea of cooking with "jack" in terms of little cooking experience, or fancy ingredients/equipment.

  • That looks exceptionally delicious! Thanks for making vegetarian dishes. :)

  • Jack umm have u made an ep. on hotdogs yet?If u did can u give me the link?

  • Thank you Jack :) This is a really good recipe. i just made it and its really good :)

  • I LOVE your video... the commercial in the middle is actually not annoying but really cute! Good luck with your business!

  • I love your nightmare before christmas coffee cup :D

  • what with the skull cup lol

  • I have that exact same Jack mug xD

  • You say its time to get healthy, but, then you load it with cheese and salt.

  • more vegetarian recipes for us vegetarians please! :)

  • mmm that looks soo good!

  • american hotdogs are freakin crazy!!

  • Great demo. I make something like this with eggplant, zucchini and portobello mushroom, but I bread the veggies a little with italian breadcrumbs before frying them and ZOMG it's soooo good!

  • Awesome, awesome! I have done 3 different lasagnas the past 3 years but not even the vegetarian one looked or had the ingredients like yours. Thanks for opening up my view on how to make lasagnas in new ways - THANKS!

    Keep doing what you're doing!

  • I enjoy watching your show Jack! I would definitely tivo it on food network! Cooking can be overwhelming especially for people on the go these days, and you make it very fun, simple, & easy without having to use thousounds of ingredients! Keep up the good work. Is there such a way where we can vote for you & turn it in to food network to have your own cooking show? I'm a huge fan! <3

  • @minara19 soon you will be able to vote. soon.

  • This is a great recipe for on the go. But if there is something I would like to add to it, it would be a layer of crimini mushrooms and stir fried shallots with the pasta sauce.

  • @SagaraSouske Love the mushroom idea. I think I will try that next time. Thanks.

  • OMG me and that guy have the same plates!! Well my mom's plates lol.

    Love the recipe!

  • @thecurlyloon me, as in "that" guy?

  • yum....i want some...

  • You're fun, You should have your own show on the food network!

  • That looks delicious. I would recommend soaking the eggplant slices in salted water for 10 minutes before you cook them, to extract the bitter juices.

  • What happened to the lasagne noodles?

  • mmm, yummy :)

  • It would be awesome if you could make falafels. I hope you can cover that one day :D

  • love your intro and the quality. it's so clearr and pristine. haha. ;D

i love lasgana; this looks soo good

thanks for the awesome vid ;)

  • thanks for your nice words.

  • I made this and I'm NOT a vegetarian and I must say it is delicious!!!!

  • Okay, darlin. I do understand the purpose of sending folks to your blog to get the recipes, but to avoid the "boo-ing", why not just put the recipe in the sidebar? That way, it won't interrupt your video, but it'll still be very accessible to your viewers. I know I don't know jack (pun intended) about making videos. I've never even made a personal one. This is just a suggestion.

    XOXO ~Tammy~

  • trust me. If I like a recipe, I will go to a blog. I appreciate the help, but cramming everything into my video page seems messy. It won't even all fit in the side bar, You will still have to click to another page.

  • Fair enough. I don't mind going to the blog, but it looks like you've got a few folks riled up. LOL Maybe you should make a video called "The Lazy Man's Instructional Video on How To Click a Link". ;)

  • Very funny!!! LOL

  • Oh yes, aren't I the comedienne? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • can you do this with lasagna pasta too?

  • yes, just add it in as a layer. You can also add ricotta cheese.

  • ohhh well i would one for the first, one in the middle and one on top just to balance it all out. that sound awesome!! love the show!

  • Hi,

    just for information...

uncooked raw eggplants are poisonous, they will not kill you but they might give you a stomachache!

just fry, grill or cook 'em for few minutes with or without skin until they soften and everything will be fine..

great vegetarian lasagna! Since i'm home alone on the weekend, i will make this for me!

    Joe from Germany

  • hey jack is it possible you could do a lazy man's spaghetti?

  • boil pasta and ragu BOOM your done

  • i love your videos jack.great job as always :)

  • for your next lazy man's video you should make a lazy mans sandwich. here i'll even write the script for you

    1. sit on the couch and yell for your wife to come

    2. tell her to go back into the kitchen and make you a SAMMICH cause shes a WOMAN!

    3. PROMOTE YOUR SAUCES

    4. COME BACK AND EAT THE SAMMICH WHILE WATCHING THE GAME !

    LOL

  • @Urnana.....I do believe that, if he made that video, it would be his LAST video. Doubt his wife would let him live long enough to make another one. LOL

  • Great video like always :D

Looks delicious. Tho I prefer something with meat in it :D

  • then that would be my next video.

  • Do you know how to make sushi? If you do, what is the Lazy Man's way of making them?

  • buying it. LOL

  • sweet Nightmare before Christmas mug!

  • First time viewer, awesome videos! I love the simplicity, but it looks delicious too! Will be watching more of your videos.

  • jack, do you use the miracle blades alot? Just wondering...

  • I would use them if I kept them. I already had a set of knives like Miracle Blades. I would use them everyday.

  • hi i love to cook and im 13 but i wanted to know could you make a teriakie chicken episode because i want to know how to make it thanks

    cole

  • video not working for me for some reason.

    5 stars anyway.

  • Jack how are you going to make a cooking show and cut out the actual cooking! you shouldve left in the sauteeing part, but thats just me haha great show not a veggie here but still watching it

  • trying to save time. I will show you the sauteing next time.

  • lol, reminds me a lot of ratatouille (The dish, not the movie).

  • i just watched that movie

  • Hey Jakatak I got a question for you. Have you ever made a garlic pizza?

  • I have had garlic on my pizza but not just a garlic pizza. My wife wouldn't come near me. LOL

  • @jakatak69 lol you gotta try it sounds weird but it's good.

  • I like it way more when you have the ingredients on the video itself so we can just pause it and look at the recipe. Anyways, good review :D.

  • Good video, but I gotta say, I I agree that lasagna should have lasagna noodles in it. It would still be vegetarian that way. This, to me, is a veggie casserole.

I also must say I resent the implication that vegetarian food is somehow healthier than "normal" food. I don't mean to open that can of worms here, suffice it to say some of us omnivores do not agree.

I just wish people would avoid the urge to make that judgement when showing a vegetarian recipe. It is by no means a scientific fact.

  • sorry dude, but it is healthier. I removed the carbs and the red meat. That makes it healthier. If it was a cookie, I wouldn't say it's healthier. I would say it's fattening. But it's a veggie dish which is pretty darn healthy.

  • Okay, I'll agree that removing the carbs is healthier, but that made it into something that is not lasagna. There is nothing wrong with red meat, however, and others might argue that you left in the cheese. A lot of people say dairy is bad for you. My point was that just because something is vegetarian, it is not necessarily better for you, and many would argue that BECAUSE it is vegetarian, it is not good for you.

Besides, doesn't lasagna usually contain pork sausage? That's not red meat.

  • 1st of all pork is red meat. 2nd of all wtf who says dairy is bad for u. 3rd of all if something is vegetarian it probably is much healthier than the alternative

  • Hey Jack, great video. You could also put the ingredients in an annotation, people can just pause it and look quickly! Keep up the good work

  • Mooaaar veggie!! please =)

  • well kinda :/

  • Hey thats like mousakas from greece but withought the minced meat.

  • this made me so hungry

  • Booo!!!! Who wants to travel all over for a recipe? Why not put it on the right side of the screen so people can copy/paste it without going to different sites? You just made a good show a pain in the butt. Not a good change. Reconsider please...

  • One of my objectives for 2010 is to be vegetarian and this food looks so delicious!

I will cook it soon and sent you photos.

  • I look forward to it.

  • that wus fast,i just finished watching poutine :)

  • umm I thought lasagnia was supposed to have those square noodles on them and then have different stuffings. It could be ground beef, chicken, or anything you like. Am I wrong wiht that information or its just 1 type of lasagnia? Ive noticed that jack hasnt made a single lasagnia yet wiht the square noodles.

  • Well there are all kinds of Lasagna. The pasta center is definitely common and gives it a lot of structure but you can be creative with food!

  • Comment removed

  • God. The cheese...omg.

    *drool*

  • Fantastic video man! love it! =] =] I think i will make this for my mom =]

  • That looked great! I'm going to try it out soon. And I love your mug!!!

  • I love your shows!

  • How is this vegetarian when it has cheese?

  • prep4md- I think you are confusing vegetarian with vegan. Vegetarians don't eat meat but still consume things like milk, cheese, sour cream, etc. Vegans don't use or consume any animal products.

  • thanks

  • vegetarians can consume dairy products. vegans can't.

  • thanks

  • its not that they can't, but more like they WON'T. :)

  • @prep4md cheese isnt meat

  • vegetarians eat cheese. Vegans don't eat cheese. Vegetarians don't eat meat.

  • so far.. ive made the chocolate chip cookie, lazy man's pizza and garlic bread and lazy man's omelet and they were all amazing

im a huge fan of the show

  • my mom sometimes makes that :P but I still prefer regular lasagna

  • Dude your ring is awesome!

  • :O that looks good!

btw where did u get that jack mug?!?!

  • i got the mug inside Disneyland. A shop next to Pirates of the Caribbean. They have a Jack Skelington store. It's my favorite mug now.

  • when are you gonna make the perfect lasagna

  • lasagna is tough. I will try later this year. Too many more shows to do first.

  • ok jack i love the show

  • was their any viewer mail?

  • dude. I did viewer mail in the video. did you watch it?

  • @jakatak69 o sorry my bad i didnt watch the full video i just skipped around becuz im not a vegetarian xD

  • your too funny. This dish is awesome even if your not vegetarian. We loved it for dinner that night.

  • those are the biggest zukinis i've ever saw........and i've seen some big zukinis

  • nicely done, I love the show! I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a Vegan menu collaboration show?

Basically Myself and a few other Youtubers will have the same Vegan menu but will cook it up their style and do a show on it and then cross link the shows. Each chef has a different style so the dishes should come out differently.

    Keep up the good cooking!

  • Jack, A quick suggestion for the veggies, to get all of them uniform thickness, try using a mandolin if possible, you can get thinner slices and it takes less time.

    Great show! keep it up!

    -Jason

  • OMG! I could seriously kill to have that Nightmare Before Christmas mug you have standing on the counter!

  • Why you didn't use pasta sheets on this one?

  • I removed the pasta because of the carbs. I removed the meat because of the vegetarians.

  • Jak can you also do something about chocolate chip cookies?

  • look for my "The Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie" video.

  • Aw Jack you never did the Battle of the TV Dinners =[. But great show still!

  • I love your mug! I just discovered and subscribed to you last night. I watch food network religiously and you are just as good as them. You should try out for "The Next Food Network Star"

  • This would make an awesome side dish too!

  • nice one jack,gg

  • My mom does the same thing, but she cooks it on a stove top, doesn't use cheese, and it's not layered. We think of it as ratatouille without the cucumber.

  • i think I am going to do the perfect brownie next.

  • cool i fail alot on brownies xD

  • lol my bro tried to make brownies and the next day he was so sick

  • Jack,

I know it takes more time on the video, but I would like to see you cooking the stuff in the pan. Just like they do on the Food Network. Thanks for your great vids.

  • im with you lidsman2221

  • no problem. I will throw that in next time.

  • Thanks for more vegetarian stuff Jack, I'm really in need of good vegetarian recipes.

  • KIBA INUZUKA FROM naruto lool

  • Oh man. I knew that name sounded familiar.
