  • as i flyer fan i despised this Leafs team but i did have alot of respect for them

the flyers game 7 loss in the ECF to Tampa was devastating for me, probably as devastating as this loss was for LEafs fans

i will always contend that if tampa had played the Leafs in the 2nd round then the Flyers woudl have won the cup that season.

this 2nd round matchup between the Flyers/Leafs was too much of a war for the surviving team

  • dammit

  • Great video. Win or lose, this is what playoff hockey is all about. Great post. Thank you.

  • This is overtime hockey at its bestm even though I'm a Leafs fan ... I still remember listening to this game on AM640 and the hollow feeling following the goal. I remember thinking how I hated getting that feeling year after year, but now I just wanna have it again ...

  • my god...I miss tucker and his crazy eyes. respect to JR for a nice shot, but fuck...FUCK...marchment for going off with an attack coming on. watch leetch try desperately to catch up...brutal

  • Robert Esche was a great goalie. Really good.

  • man the leafs had truculence in those days....

  • I actually wanna see Toronto make the playoffs. And I'm a Habs fan. When Toronto and Montreal are both in the playoffs (whether they play each other or not), the playoffs are always more special.

  • I remember this game so well. I will never forget it.

  • Leafs' Playoff Drought: 2004-2012

  • 7 years later, feels like yesterday...

  • I miss the old days.

Tucker, Domi, Belfor, Sundin, Mogilny, Roberts.

    I love you guys.

  • @hnemers don't forget CUJO

  • Hate the Leafs, but I remember watching this and I can't think of when I've seen a more entertaining period of hockey. Tucker's hit was a thing of beauty.

  • miss these days

  • What a loud building... are we sure this was at the ACC?

  • @EspherMercury playoff hockey is beast in T.

  • this was an awesome moment and i'm not even a flyers or roenick fan. laffs suck so bad that it's kind of pathetic. they also currently hold the longest stanely cup drought and will for quite some time to come :-)

  • Another broadcast, another dumb question from Scott Oake...

  • All Toronto, all OT. Fuck you, Jeremy Roenick!!

  • This was my first year of hockey watching and playing REP hockey and when I experienced this game i broke out crying as a kid. and walked to school everyday sad, crying! GO LEAFS GO!

  • What happen to Robert Eshce

  • @okpapereat - Chuck Norris.

  • hockey back then was more exciting, without all the stupid penalties they call now. remember when the refs allowed physical contact?

  • Kapanen deserves both assists for that goal. What a warrior.

  • for everyone who just wants to see the hit, its at 2:33

  • the crowds reaction after the tucker hit... priceless

  • snipe!

  • "THAT is it" little did he know he was talking about the leafs competitiveness for the next decade.

  • if the leafs scored after the kapinen hit, that would be the greatest ot in leafs history

  • kapanen is the only reason the flyers won. what determination to get off the ice, and he didn't even know where he was.

  • God, I hate Tucker. But I have to props; that was an EPIC hit. I remember spitting out my drink when I saw it.

  • Single greatest period of hockey I've ever seen, and I can't stand either team.

  • i miss those leafs!!!

  • One of Bob's best calls of a game.

  • Those are the type of hits the NHL is trying to eliminate from the game now. High hits with intent to injure.

  • who no's if we would have won this game u no we could of won game 7 and maybe the stanly cup u never no :)

  • I thought this was the year for sure.....just don't think we could have beat Tampa or Calgary that year.

  • 2:35 to see the hit and the announcers reaction.

  • this was the last moment the leafs have ever been in the playoffs. cant buy your way into the post season anymore toronto, not with the cap ;-)

  • I don't like either one of these teams(especially the bums in orange and white) but man, what a stretch of hockey. Show this to the people that throw around that crap about how hockey doesn't translate to TV, and I dare them not to be entralled.

  • Here come Kapanen and... OYE OYE, was he hit by Tucker!!!

  • christ this was just an awesome game.. and the last year they could have won the cup... what I would give to be there

  • 4:12

  • Too bad the leafs lost...but that was great stuff...I miss Tucker.

  • A moment I'll never forget. I wish JR returned to Philly, he is still a fan favourite there... And I wish better luck to the Leafs in the future, would be better to see a good Toronto team in the playoffs than those shitty penguins, canes, capitals etc.

  • such a heartbreaker....

  • amazing hit GO LEAFS GO!!!!

  • wow brings bak bad old memories

  • HAHAH FUCK THE LEAFS

  • Tucker's hit on Kapanen is, without a doubt, the greatest body-check I've ever seen...and anyone who says that it is anything less than clean, is an idiot and knows nothing about hockey.

    SAY WORD!

  • have you seen the Campbell hit on Umberger?

  • man at 4:12 u feel it lol

  • its sooo quite then,,,, boom ! lol

  • This was the last playoff game the Leafs have played since

  • Tucker in his prime as a grinder. Too bad the hard play took a huge toll on his body and hes pretty much just an inkling of what he once was.

  • i dont care if your wins or loses but that was 1 hell of a hit. that player just got pawned. that it final. no comments needed, hockey is all about the hits not the wins.

  • "hockey is all about the hits not the wins."

That had to be the most retarded comment about hockey that i have ever heard in my life

  • word

  • He left his feet it wasnt even clean

  • well, that makes sense coming from someone who calls him/herself an ogre. guess that wouldve been a painful loss if you were a toronto fan but hey, no brain no pain...

  • was a monster hit.. but all you leafs fans shut up real quick with that rocket from #97 Roenick and the extra tap in hahahahaah listen to the announcer at 3.22 and look at the leafs bench at 3:40..and sami the man kappanen at 4:00 standing by himself shakin it off like it was nothin.... go home leafs fans go home

  • CHOO CHOO PEACE KAPANEN

  • THE LEAFS HAD GOOD PLAYERS!?!?!??!

  • I never get tired of watching Toronto lose.

  • I wonder what hit was bigger...this one or Campbell on Umberger? Flyers must love getting plastered.

  • when roenick scored, i ran through my house and went insane, then i ran outside w/ my flyers jersey and ran down the street. it was an amazing night.

  • this hurt a lot

  • Over 4 years ago already. Can't believe time has flown by so fast.

  • toronto has canada's best sports fans. philadelphia has america's best sports fans. i love it when these teams play eachother, and i love listening to the crowd. so good.

  • man or man thts prob one of the biggest hits in hockey history :P

  • The last Leaf playoff game to date.

  • This game epitomizes my life as a Leaf Fan - heartbreaking. I will always remember this game, it was definitely the greatest overtime ill probably ever see. Heartbreaking in the end tho.

  • hey, yeah im a flyer fan, but my whole life as a diehard sports fan has been heartbreaking.

, flyers have been great to watch and some memorable moments, but in my lifetime, always coming up short to the big goal.

  • i agree. it sucked so bad because the tucker hit and the leafs play gave me such a high and then all of a sudden it was over. leetch really left caber out 2 dry when he pinched and aimlessly waived his stick at the puck

  • the leafs have never been the same since this game

  • Truer words have never been said... I think as a Leaf fan that was the most exciting period I have ever seen them play.

  • one of the best games ever

I miss Keith Primeau with a lot of heart :-(

  • Thanks for posting this...it was an unbelievable game. The flyers definitely could have gone all the way that year.
