This is overtime hockey at its bestm even though I'm a Leafs fan ... I still remember listening to this game on AM640 and the hollow feeling following the goal. I remember thinking how I hated getting that feeling year after year, but now I just wanna have it again ...
my god...I miss tucker and his crazy eyes. respect to JR for a nice shot, but fuck...FUCK...marchment for going off with an attack coming on. watch leetch try desperately to catch up...brutal
I actually wanna see Toronto make the playoffs. And I'm a Habs fan. When Toronto and Montreal are both in the playoffs (whether they play each other or not), the playoffs are always more special.
Hate the Leafs, but I remember watching this and I can't think of when I've seen a more entertaining period of hockey. Tucker's hit was a thing of beauty.
this was an awesome moment and i'm not even a flyers or roenick fan. laffs suck so bad that it's kind of pathetic. they also currently hold the longest stanely cup drought and will for quite some time to come :-)
This was my first year of hockey watching and playing REP hockey and when I experienced this game i broke out crying as a kid. and walked to school everyday sad, crying! GO LEAFS GO!
I don't like either one of these teams(especially the bums in orange and white) but man, what a stretch of hockey. Show this to the people that throw around that crap about how hockey doesn't translate to TV, and I dare them not to be entralled.
A moment I'll never forget. I wish JR returned to Philly, he is still a fan favourite there... And I wish better luck to the Leafs in the future, would be better to see a good Toronto team in the playoffs than those shitty penguins, canes, capitals etc.
Tucker's hit on Kapanen is, without a doubt, the greatest body-check I've ever seen...and anyone who says that it is anything less than clean, is an idiot and knows nothing about hockey.
i dont care if your wins or loses but that was 1 hell of a hit. that player just got pawned. that it final. no comments needed, hockey is all about the hits not the wins.
well, that makes sense coming from someone who calls him/herself an ogre. guess that wouldve been a painful loss if you were a toronto fan but hey, no brain no pain...
was a monster hit.. but all you leafs fans shut up real quick with that rocket from #97 Roenick and the extra tap in hahahahaah listen to the announcer at 3.22 and look at the leafs bench at 3:40..and sami the man kappanen at 4:00 standing by himself shakin it off like it was nothin.... go home leafs fans go home
toronto has canada's best sports fans. philadelphia has america's best sports fans. i love it when these teams play eachother, and i love listening to the crowd. so good.
This game epitomizes my life as a Leaf Fan - heartbreaking. I will always remember this game, it was definitely the greatest overtime ill probably ever see. Heartbreaking in the end tho.
i agree. it sucked so bad because the tucker hit and the leafs play gave me such a high and then all of a sudden it was over. leetch really left caber out 2 dry when he pinched and aimlessly waived his stick at the puck
as i flyer fan i despised this Leafs team but i did have alot of respect for them
the flyers game 7 loss in the ECF to Tampa was devastating for me, probably as devastating as this loss was for LEafs fans
i will always contend that if tampa had played the Leafs in the 2nd round then the Flyers woudl have won the cup that season.
this 2nd round matchup between the Flyers/Leafs was too much of a war for the surviving team

hockey back then was more exciting, without all the stupid penalties they call now. remember when the refs allowed physical contact?

kapanen is the only reason the flyers won. what determination to get off the ice, and he didn't even know where he was.

Those are the type of hits the NHL is trying to eliminate from the game now. High hits with intent to injure.
