cmon on now, yall scored 7 pts in yall own crib, what makes yall think that with no clark under center, coming into the shoe that penn st will beat the buckeyes?
@Doubleshot98 We were good in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009. It's more like PSU is BAD once every 4 years. You could make a case against 2006, though, I'm not delusional, I know we're going to be delivered a pounding in the Shoe in November. Sadly, to me PSU giving Ohio State a tough game like we did last year for this year would be a moral victory.
@MVillani1985 Man don't all of you wish that everything was back to the way it used to be with BIG TEN satnding on top of everybody i miss that everyone in the conference needs to step it up even my Buckeyes.
@101osubuckeyes Yeah, the Big Ten has been down this year. For real this time (even though SEC fans have been saying it for years). Ohio State almost loses to Toledo then loses to Miami while Penn State loses to Alabama and almost loses to Temple. Michigan may be doing the best so far this year, I'd say Wisconsin, but they're untested.
@MVillani1985 It use to be Penn state, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio state that were pretty much running college football and now you have the SEC taking some top recruits from those places as well as the Big Ten is. The SEC needs to come play in the cold weather like real football teams do.
@101osubuckeyes It's cyclical. I remember in the 90s that outside of Alabama and Florida, the SEC was an afterthought. The power conferences were the Big Ten and ACC, then seemingly around 2003 that all changed. I think it'll switch back again soon.
@101osubuckeyes I think 2009 was the beginning of the switch back and 2010 was very off and on. I think despite how weak the Big Ten looks now, there will be a few bowl surprises in December and January. One team I think that's not getting much love is Penn State, once that offense sparks like in 2006, this could be a decent team that could finish 9-3. Ohio State it's hard to say, the Buckeyes could bounce back and be good or this might be another 2004. Illinois looks good and Iowa looks down.
@MVillani1985 Penn State needs to get their D back in shape I'm use to seeing the two best defenses playing against each other every year(OSU and PSU).
@101osubuckeyes Actually, the defense is fine, it's the offense that looks weak. Do you remember the 2004 team with the tremendous defense and weak offense? That's what we have here, if the offense can come alive this could be a contendor. If not, it's another 8-4 to 9-3 season for the Lions.
@MVillani1985 I'd love to see the 2006 OSU team, 2008 PSU or 2005, 2006 Michigan 2010 Wisconsin, 2009 Iowa, and 2007 or 08 Northwestern all in the same season. The SEC wouldn't even compare to that.
@101osubuckeyes Weird as it sounds, I prefer the 2005 PSU over 2008 PSU, as much as I like both, but 2005 PSU won the confernece in a tough year with an OSU team that almost beat Texas and a solid Wisconsin team. But I completely agree with the premise of your list.
@MVillani1985 The Penn state Qb is he the same kid that started as a freshman now, because it would be wise for psu to keep him in and keep him in so they don't hurt his confidence he must be talented if he starts freshman year for Penn State and if they can get descent wr's to surround him and good TE. The man will become a beast.
@101osubuckeyes I think that it's hard to say which QB looks better now but Bolden will probably improve the most out of the two of them, since we know what we're getting from Matt McGloin (good plays mixed in with nightmarishly bad plays). One kid I saw with tons of potential is Paul Jones, if he can get himself academically eligible to play football he could be a real playmaker..
@101osubuckeyes Well I watched all the Big Ten teams this week and I liked Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, my Buckeyes are improving and you were right Penn State's D is still solid. All they need is a good running game to take the pressure off the quarterback. They only need a descent offense to be really successful this year though.
@MVillian1985 Honestly what I would do is find out what exactly both quarterbacks' strengths are and set up an offense that can alternate the both of them in on plays they specialize in.
@buckeyebrat909 indeed. I think penn state vs OSU might be a new uber-rivalry. Ever since they "whited us out" in (was it 2003?), there's been vengeance in the air.
@evangrogers That was 2005. 2003 was the year that Ohio State escaped with victory somehow 21-20 against a dreadful Penn State team that finished 3-9. The Whiteout was invented in 2004 (along side Code Blue). But I agree that it's certainly a great rivalry, most games in the Tressel era against Penn State have been exciting football games with the lone exception of 2007, but even that wasn't over until Morelli threw that pick six that made it 34-10 early in the 4th.
