@MatzahBri I think this is how the powers work: When they got affected by the storm, it enhanced their most.. distinct quality about themselves, to the point that it became a full-on power. Just a hunch, because some of the powers really are rubbish, but they always make sense with the person. Like Alisha is quite provocative, this guy is obviously gay, and in the first season finale the girl who made everyone "good" was very focused on her morals, Simon often feels invisible, etc.
