  • do you use co2 in this tank!thax

  • i tied my fern onto a neon..looks great!!:D

  • dude nice tank, nice look into dwarf sag, im doing an iron experiment in my tank at the moment, why dont you try summin similar.

  • Just to leave a comment for wanting comments...lol...j/k Nice tank, love the tetras.

  • Great video, very informative!

  • Thanks for sharing your experience. Got a good idea to start with.

    Cheers! Wonderful Video

  • Thats a lovely tank you have there and a very good and informative video. I'm setting up a 55 litre Nano tank and will be using Java fern and dwarf sag after watching this, so thanks for the advice ! I'm using nutra soil so hopefully the dwarf will do well. Could you recommend another similar plant I could use as a contrast ?

  • Wonderful Vid Mate! Beautiful tank. Just wondering if you use co2 and also what size tank? I have a 29g and you've just given me a better idea on what I want to do with it. Also, what are you using for substrait?

    Cheers!

  • @TheBladesuntited the people obviously had no experience, plants grow perfectly in it :) even better that gravel

  • Hey Ross, GREAT vids you have about fish keeping! Can you list these plant names for me? Sometimes I can't understand what your saying. Thanks! :)

  • Im just setting up my first planted tank and i went to a big famous north of England fish shop recently and they told me not to use sand as the plants wouldnt grow! Its too late as ive already put 1- 1%1/2 inches of sand in there. So we will see! Great video by the way.

  • nice 70 and 0

  • good shit, im subbing

  • i think a video explaining all the types of lights and applications each is suited for would be good for people to know and the same for substrates with the many types and styles out there sometimes its a little tough to feel your making and informed purchase rather than a crap shoot through the mediocre products or styles that fit a different style of aquarium ie planted, cichlid, discus, shrimp, marine, brackish, community. thanks and great videos i am a huge fan

  • Great video and very informative. Im new to real plants as opposed to plastic, and this is a real help. Cheers!

  • Great video how long did that moss take to grow that big??

  • it looks very nice! :-)

  • Great video and beautiful tank. You've given me some good ideas.

  • That was a good video ;)

how long does it take to set up a tank like yours?

To be honest man you got one of the better looking fish tanks ive seen, its simple but neat and clean. Your fish are the same, simple they look good in the tank! :)

  • @espirates2 he has bronze corys

  • what type of cory fish do you have there ?

  • Thanks Ross very helpfull.

  • Can you grow plants in coarse gravel

  • @Raishionix yes but it will take a while...they prefer sand

  • ow ross your tank looks skandeless

  • @itjoetime thanks :)

  • Thanks mate! Good video! I also subb'ed. It would be helpful to list the plants in the description of the video as well. Also what type of water conditions are needed if applicable. Also a list of plants that need Co2 and others that don't! Do plants like little filtration or normal filtration?

  • @Electromusicaus Thanks for subscribing! Yeah...I probably just didn't have the time when I made the vid to put the plants in the description...will do on future vids that involve plants though! generally for easy grow plants you need a ph between 4-8 and other than that they're pretty adaptable, just make sure you have enough light. just search google for plants that need co2 and dont...plant's aren't really bothered about filtration although fish need it.

  • @TheRossiboy Thanks, I have 3 x T5 lights, will probably start off with Java Moss, Java Fern, Elodea ( out of my pond ), and see what happens.

  • I'm going too be doing a 5 or 10 gallon dirted betta tank with dward sag, maybe christmas or java moss, cryptocoryne wenditii, micro sword, dwarf hairgrass, bannana plants, and then some pennywort and cryptocoyne parva for middle and background. Also using clay and organic dirt and going to be runing 2 10 watt CFL bulbs i think because they are ment for fish tanks and that would give me 4 watts per gallon but that's oudated. You got a fishtank T.V. account? If not you should join socan chat

  • Nice vid Ross!

  • @Braden8558 thanks man :)

  • Good informative vid do you think dirt is a good choice? I'm gonna do a 5 or 10 gallon betta tank (probably 10) and was wondering if i should do like dustin fish tank style organic soil and red clay if i can get any

  • im having trouble understanding what you call the dwarf plant. you second favorite one.

  • @xwarxsabrewulf Sorry if you couldn't hear what it was called...it is commonly called dwarf sag, that's short for dwarf sagittaria :) hope this helped!

  • @Mutatedslug they have always been confident...I don't know how really, maybee because I pass the tank a lot :) If I were you I would suggest giving them a little food every time you pass in the form of sinking pellets so only they get the food...after a few weeks they should start to associate you with food and eventually come out whenever you are in the room :) hope this helped!

  • really helpful video ross! you should make a video on how to tell when a fish is unhealy and healthy.

  • im realy into java fern im only just started to add plants to my live bearer tank. tank is incomplete with out plants .great videos. keep doing updates ..

  • @fenbogle yeah you can't go wrong with good old java fern :) Thanks! I will do :)

  • :( No anubias thats my fav. beginner plant awwww....

  • You could do fish reviews for example tell us why corry cats are a good tank mate

  • @fantasticguy66 yeah I was thinking of doing 'fishy fridays' where I talk about a type of fish every friday but dustinsfishtanks does 'species sunday' which is similar so I've sent him a PM to ask if it's ok

  • i wanna ask, do u vacuum the gravel?

  • @joshy39769 I don't stick the syphon down into the gravel I just hover the syphon over it to uck up any surface debris

  • im new to fish ,can you tell me your opinion on aponogeten bulbs

  • @saveryanplz sorry never tried em :(

  • @TheRossiboy aw man

  • nice..wat do u do about the roots that grow on the repends off the leaves side? I got tons of them..

  • @asiandude666 just pull them off if you don't like them...they are a sign that it isn't getting enough nutrients...once the roots in the dirt grow they should stop growing from the side

  • @TheRossiboy don't really want to mess with them...i'll just leave them be

  • nice vid man. Tanks lookin awesome. iv been lookin at all sorts of vids tryin to find some good beginner plants. Cheers dude

  • @SuperTjshaw thanks man it means a lot :) no problem :)

  • Did I hear my name? ;p Thanks for advice and help regarding the plants mate. When they get here get ready for some newbie questions - It's been awhile since I had a planted tank.

  • @bolly12345 sure did...haha

  • Alright Ross, great vids mate been watching a while now, just haven't commented lol, anyway its nice to see your tank getting better and better, was just looking back at the Dwarf Sag vid you did as Im gonna get some, wow has the tank changed since then... The only thing I was gonna say is I think your cories would benefit from a bit of sand at the front, even if you just got like 500grams of the black variety.

  • @TheKSH21 It's great to see comments off people who don't regularaly talk to me :) yep dwarf sag is a great plant although that dwarf sag vid I did a while back is actually narrow leaf sag which is very similar to dwarf sag just a little taller, it was mislabaelled on ebay :/ yeah cories really do like sand and it isn't as harsh on their whiskers although I've tried sand/gravel combos before and they always mix in together and look bad so I'm not gonna get any, they're alright how they are :)

  • @TheRossiboy Yeah, I settled on Narrow leaf too, seems thats all thats available on eBay these days... Its ok my tanks is pretty tall, wont mind the actual height difference. I can understand with the sand etc.. Where did you get your jungle val from? I am struggling to grow tall plants, my tank is 2ft high! What would you recommend?

  • @TheKSH21 I got my jungle val from an ebay shop called last trading post :) jungle val is definately the plant to grow with if you want a tall easy to grow plant, if your struggling then you could increase the amount of light the tank gets

  • @TheRossiboy Ah no, had t5s on my old tank, hated them! ALGAEEE.Was gonna try the Red Serpent vallis they have as they seem the biggest species available, might make a change too...

  • Great video and good info on the Java Fern!

  • @weareallwet thanks man :) yeah lol

  • as always nice vid man i think you should do a vid on the prossces of starting a solid fish thank :)

  • @WHITEB0Y221 thanks mate :) ...I have made a vid about how to set up an aquarium from scratch but do you mean the steps after that like planting?

  • very nice

  • @JUNAID187 thanks mate :)

  • What are the best beginner tropical fish

  • @fishy686 hmmmm...guppies and other livebearers like platies and swordtails :)

  • This is exactly the video I have been looking for thanks Rossiboy. This is why I enjoy your vids, keep up the good work :-)

  • @Chris07860 haha no problem mate...will do :)

  • great vid! i have good and bad news. (i need to make a video about it). one of my tetras died yesterday :-( it had an open wound. anyway, now the good news! i am going to get a rock, java moss and red cherry shrimp from pets at home on friday! yay me! just so you know, i am at war with snails lol

  • @tropix579 thanks pal...sorry to hear about your tetra :/ oh cool amano shrimp are better at eating algae but chwerries look cool...I've never seen cherries in PAH before though so if you cant find em look out for 'yamato shrimp' which is what they call amanos :) add one small teaspoon of table salt to your water when doing a waterchange and mix well, that should kill the snails :)

  • @TheRossiboy i saw the cherries on monday when i went! the fish person said they had ordered more :-)

  • @tropix579 oh cool :)

  • nice ross

  • @TommysFish thanks mate...you got the first comment woop woop :)
