  • Would This Be The Branch Line That Would Cut Off From The Metra Aurora Hill Yard And Go To West Chicago? Also What Does NIFA Stand For?

  • @WhiskeyCentral The branch that goes to West Chicago is the River Branch, this line here starts out just a bit east of where I took this, and it ties into the Aurora Sub right about where it goes over Route 31 west of downtown Aurora, where the train gets on the main and heads to Eola.

  • @WhiskeyCentral NIFA stands for (Northern Illinois Farm and Agriculture) This line used to go passed I-88, but they tore up that part of the line when the CB&Q lost it to BN, The line went all the way to Geneva, and along the way it passed farmland, so that's where they got the term "NIFA." Currently this line is now 3.40 Miles, and BNSF only switches out TYCO, a facility that specializes in Plastic Pellets. (Notice the 4-Bay Hoppers.)

  • Neat street running!
