@AdmiralPiet117 i know this is a stupid four month responce, but yea.. But that's how most suicides happen. People are all happy cuz they came to that sick conclusion to take themselves out, they fool us all with their smiles, then bam.. their gone forever.
@bdtiger880 It is. This one and All along the Watchtower are my 2 favorites this one like you said is "hauntingly beautiful" and that one, the one with the cylon intro, is just kind of frak with your head, bohemian-like, rock. It's awesome!
@HHaddow990 It's not a mistake, "this I beg for my second wish I may too" -- "this I beg for my second wish I may also" -- "this I may also beg, for my second wish", grammar baby
I found this song when I was looking up things that had to do with Alessandro Juliani as the character L from Death Note. I didn't know he was an actor in Battlestar Galactica- or that he could sing. This song's production values are amazing, and the compositional quality just blew me away. The emotion, the atmosphere, the incredible power in Juliani's voice just left me stunned. It's just plain beautiful. Mmm... I need to make an animation to this song involving L...
@KaeolianMode I can tell you that this song becomes even more emotional and soul-wrenching when you hear it in the context of the episode where his character sings this to keep is mind from focusing on pain.
@jwikholm Mmh. I definitely want to check out this series. I listened to some of the other songs from this soundtrack and I was blown away. I definitely want to see it in it's true context.
Hey Guys, Here's a link to my favortie soundtrack songs of all time. Something tells me if you like this song you can appreciate the rest of the songs on this list. Enjoy!
It's a man mourning the past he lost, where he was whole and happy and things were certain. First asking for the past to return, then pleading, then trying to make it return, but to no avail. Spending the future dwelling on the past, focused only on himself.
@Livewire1119 That's heart wrenching. It speaks volumes to what she meant to you for this song to be stuck in your head while sitting next to her... Truly sorry for your loss....
I love this song. I think it was the best piece of the series by far. This song (and Bear) has influenced my music making and taste so much. I can and do listen to this song back to back all the time.Oh and I agree with jstark069. I think you hit everything right on the head. There hasn't been anything on tv better than this in a long time, although many try to imitate the formula.
@Dizz371 I think you are correct that this is the best song. Then again, every single song is perfectly matches with it's situations in this show (Which is kind of crazy when you think about it). Also, I had some off-hand verifications from people on the show that I was correct about what Gaeta was singing about. Never a flat out "Yes"... But it was good enough for me.
I love this song! I always felt he was directly singing about the Number 8 he fell in love with on New Caprica and then killed in The Face of the Enemy webisodes. Poor guy. In my opinion there were only three tragic characters on that show. Gaeta, Duahla, and Cally. Gaeta would have never revolted if Anders hadn't blown his leg off without even a slap on the wrist. I knew Cally wouldn't make it. Duahla depressed me though. She was always the one to convince others not to give up. Then she did :(
@93n371cfr34k I know. But he didn't know she was alive at that point either though. I felt that he was wanting her back or to know that she was safe, or happy. I felt it was a classic case of "Be careful what you wish for". I got to speak with Ronald D. Moore for a minute awhile back when I did a few paintings for the show (They are my background on my page). He jokingly said "Hmmm, I think you've got something there".. He's such a jerk, he never tells you if you're correct or not, lol.
@jstark069 Thats weird, those three were the only ones I thought were more or less "bad uns" Gaeta was a quisling and self righteous, Duahla played every bloke she came near and Cally was just a little cow bag :)
@ignorantpom Too true, but TBH ,it was things like that that made me go from buying the Mini series pilot 3 weeks ago then skinting myself in hmv buying all the rest and finishing the series a day ago :) When first introduced you thought,oh,heres the "sweet girl next door goody 2 shoes" then ,bang, she does a Jack Ruby !! And please say Im not the only one who was convinced Gaeta was a skinjob.
@jstark069 Duahla came out of nowhwere. That took me completely offguard. But that is the one thing I liked about the show, It wasn't predictable. Just like life isn't. Noone on the show was totaly evil or totally good. They were simply human; flawed with their moments of glory, and just trying to live life despite the circumstances. I hope the movie will be just as great and truthful.
@Dizz371 Agreed, Duahla had me bummed for days. Never had a show affect me like that. Only because she seriously pulled everybody outta there ruts and convinced then not to give up, only to give up herself. Also, even though he was kind of annoying.. Jammer, in season 3's (Collaborators), in hindsight, got sooo shafted it's not even funny...... Poor dude... :P
@fr33p3rs3ph0n3 Helo was my favorite character as well. He had the best morals of any character, and never did anything to contradict himself. Also, I was just joking about fat Lee, lol.
@jstark069 Ah, ok. :] sorry it's kinda hard to tell whats joking and sarcasm on the internet.
And the way you explained Helo is exactly what I like about him. But I think its more than he just had the best mores of any character, it was like he was the morals (if that makes any since) Like all the morals anyone had combined, he had. And he could tell when something fishy was up like with that doctor killing the Sagittarons.
@TARDISdm64 i will say it again, think before saying some1 a dumbass. :) your doing everyone a favor here:) just think.. coz me i was commenting on the series, not on real ppl. and if your going to argue on the net? mybe get a life ,really lol
@TARDISdm64 well arent u hot headed one, typically every person on this world has different perspective on this series, secondly i dnt give a fuck what u think, thirdly i didnt say he did not do it for good intention, but stupidiest thing to do for a good "intention", so mybe get a life, stop calling ppl dumbass ??? be mature. if u were to comment such thing like mine, i wont even bother to you fraking comment..
Gaeta is a waste, he made a military Coop against admiral Adama.. geez, those ppl who side with him is stupid than him .. LOL.. fraking TOm zac Vice pres.
*are stupid//are more stupid/are stupider than he is
*Fraking
*Tom Zarek, vice president
If you're going to call the people stupid, at least check your fraking spelling, dumbass. Gaeta was only doing what he thought was right. Admittedly, he did it wrong, but he still had good intentions.
@TARDISdm64 That's right! People who live in glass houses shouldn't through stones. And like you said he was just doing what he thought was right. None of them (well most of them) didn't do anything maliciously, even Balter and he frakked up a lot.
this song is BEAUTIFUL! normally, i'm not into this kind of music, but i love it <3 i always imagine L singing it which makes me love it even more. alessandro juliani has a wonderful voice !
If I ever suffer amnesia I'm relying on people like you fine folk to reintroduce me to this series and blow my mind one more time!
And also, I don't feel sorry for Anders one bit for what happened to him. The second coup would never have ocurred in such a magnificent fashion if he hadn't shot Gaeta. Impulsive fool could've made his point without shooting poor Felix. Burn Anders, I hope that sun is comfortable.
How can a voice like this go unnoticed? I mean, seriously, this and the barbie movie are the only times i've heard him sing. I'd rather listen to him than half the people i hear on the radio
@MyMercyFailing Such a good actor and a good character. I was pissed, too, that he was killed off but he couldn`t have gone a better way. It was such a testament to the show`s politically and racially charged storyline that not even a character as well received as Felix Gaeta could outlive it. That`s just my opinion.
Because of this and many other soundtracks I want to watch BSG all over and over again, but it's fairly impossible. BSG is 1 time experience, when watching it even the slightest spoilers ruin everything. I wish someone could erase everything concerning BSG from my memory so I could watch it again and feel the same as the first time.
My friend is trying to get me to watch BSG and Firefly. i didn't want to, but now that i've heard so much about BSG and their sound track. im going to do it!
I would strongly disagree, though it's obviously a matter of opinion. Something that severely crippled BSG was the never-ending underlying religious theme aswell as (Possibly spoiler here so don't read what I am about to type if you haven't seen the ending.) the pathetic ending depicting technology as a bad thing.
@meckerarma I respect your opinion, and I might be unfair when I compare four seasons of complex human/machine drama with one season of "cowboys in space" ;)
@meckerarma You're right. BSG started as one of most promising shows ever and could have added something meaningful to the bis issues of our time, but in the end it became a quiet ordinary show with a ridiculous end. Still on of the greatest shows ever, but a bit disappointing compared with the strong beginning. What if Colonists would have been the ancestors of ancient humlons? That would have been mindblowing and maybe even meaningful. Instead we have to be afraid of toy-robots *gnaaah*
@sverebom I don't think that the message for the ending was that we should be scared of toy-robots, although it was quite hilarious. Rather I think it was meant to show the futility in the attempts to break a chain of events. This has all happened before and will happen again. The importance of the ending is the extremes to which the Cylons and Humanity are willing to go through to end this chain. That is the significance of it. No matter how impossible the task, we must at the least try.
I gotta say. 2 years ago when a friend of mine started to try to get me into this show, I scoffed it. "I'm not that much of a freaking nerd dude" I said...me also being an utter and complete Star Wars freak. But one day, he forced the first season into my hands and said,"watch it...or I will eat your balls for breakfast." So with this turn of events I watched the first season.
I couldn't have been happier with my friends earlier threat to my manhood because this show has made me laugh, made me
I've never seen BSG -- It even took me a minute to remember what BSG stood for. But this song is very lovely and and feels genuine! I can really appreciate it. :)
@BondSlave101 as a star trek fan, hear my opinion... BSG is so much more, in an emotional, psychological and philsophical sense... as i watched the seasons, for the first time i deeply came to question a deeper, one truth... and while watching it, at times i was genuinely scared, unsure of what truth as one is... but can you hear this song? it holds both intense grief and joy... i myself use it as compass to life... there is no absolute good, nor no absolute evil... BUT... good always wins...
BSG, simply put, is STORYTELLING AT IT'S FINEST. Add to the amazing story Bear McCreary's jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring score, and you have pure magic here, people.
I felt so conflicted while watching the mutiny episodes. I completely understand where Gaeta was coming from. He sacrificed so much for humanity but he was never recognized for his deeds and he was forced to work with the Cylons who destroyed the colonies in the first place. But on the other hand Adama is a goddam hero and was trying to forge a new path between man and machine. Damn now that's good television!
A deeply complex and ultimately tragic character. Personally, I believed that Gaeta's reasoning for the mutiny was solidly grounded by Adama's actions toward the Cylon rebels. These were the enemies who had destroyed their colonies (including the Six who had sabotaged their defense systems). It's not hard to imagine the rage and betrayal felt by the survivors.
Gaeta's saving moment though was when he recognized the evil that Zarek had allowed to taint their cause, and ended it. Farewell, sir.
Gaeta only stood up for what what he beleived in but you never mess with the old man or else...............READY........AIM...........FIRE or TAKE THEM TO THE BRIG or THROW THEM OUT THE AIRLOCK
Gatea really drew the short stick. First they complained that he didn't fight the cylons hard enough and was almost killed because of it. Then when he put his foot down and refused to stop fighting the cylons he's gets executed for it.
You want to know why this is the first track on the Season 4 soundtrack? Because Gaeta and Zarek's mutiny is the best story line from Season 4. Whether you agreed or didn't agree with Gaeta's decision in siding with Zarek, the show did such an amazing job of explaining his position and why he did what he did. And we all know there are people who supported and who opposed Gaeta and what he became in the end.
I've connected to Gaeta most out of all the characters of the show. Since episode one, where all he was know as was Mr. Gaeta. To watch him journey such a horrible road, and his morals warp as much as they did, and how he ultimately dies because of it. It truly stuck with me, and scared me a little, as I believe I would have done the same if I ever went through everything he did.
That was the beauty of this show. You could relate, and see yourself in at least one character.
I love both L and Gaeta. However, I highly recommend you watch BSG. By just limiting yourself to death note, and Alessandro Juliani to L, you are missing out on something great.
Gaeta was in my top 3 favorite characters, even 'till his bitter end. For a minor character, he underwent some incredible hardship, self-discovery, moral ambiguity, and growth. Nobody looked as calm, cool, and badass in the CIC as you Gaeta. r.i.p
In real life, everybody would have supported Gaeta's mutiny. The situation was darker than ever. There was just no hope. And about the lyrics... Can be about Starbuck, Roslin or even Galactica?
@LPSpeppers speak for yourself. Gaeta's character is a tribute to close mindedness and what happens when you cling to the past so desperately, that you lose out on your own future. He represented the flaws of humanity, despite how morally righteous he thought he was
@Ghats212 Actually, I see it differently - as a tragedy of a man, whose worst fear and the anti-thesis to everything he stands for as an army man and as a person becoming the accepted norm and the new path of his entire people (the cylons, who have killed most of humanity and almost eradicated the human civilization, were becoming the new allies and friends of all - with everyone seeming to forget what they have lost to those "abominations", as he sees them). He just couldn't accept that.
Wow. That's not how I interpreted Gaeta at all. HE was the secret hero of New Caprica, he served faithfully under Adama for years. The trauma of being turned against by his shipmates and friends combined with the loss of his leg drove him to a faulty decision to team with Zarak. He lost his way--I think Baltar is more the representation of the flaws of humanity.
@tromboneteach Many characters have plotlines and stories that show the "flaws" in human nature, no one character is representative of that. Baltar is more a play on ego and narcissism.
@DHScherocha I agree, with you, I don't think that any ONE character was all good or all evil. The above was a response to LPSpeppers saying that Gaeta "represented the flaws of humanity." I think that's a really harsh judgment about Gaeta. I think Baltar is much more flawed.
And if Baltar is representing Ego and Narcissism, those are flaws, no?
Great singing on this track!

*Jeez, those people
*are stupid//are more stupid/are stupider than he is
*Fraking
*Tom Zarek, vice president
If you're going to call the people stupid, at least check your fraking spelling, dumbass. Gaeta was only doing what he thought was right. Admittedly, he did it wrong, but he still had good intentions.
TARDISdm64 6 months ago
@TARDISdm64 That's right! People who live in glass houses shouldn't through stones. And like you said he was just doing what he thought was right. None of them (well most of them) didn't do anything maliciously, even Balter and he frakked up a lot.

I was really P.O'd when Gaeta died.
MyMercyFailing 7 months ago 4
@MyMercyFailing Such a good actor and a good character. I was pissed, too, that he was killed off but he couldn`t have gone a better way. It was such a testament to the show`s politically and racially charged storyline that not even a character as well received as Felix Gaeta could outlive it. That`s just my opinion.

Can't get this song out of my head. So beautifully haunting.

@FoggySwe
I would strongly disagree, though it's obviously a matter of opinion. Something that severely crippled BSG was the never-ending underlying religious theme aswell as (Possibly spoiler here so don't read what I am about to type if you haven't seen the ending.) the pathetic ending depicting technology as a bad thing.
meckerarma 8 months ago
@meckerarma I respect your opinion, and I might be unfair when I compare four seasons of complex human/machine drama with one season of "cowboys in space" ;)
FoggySwe 8 months ago
@meckerarma You're right. BSG started as one of most promising shows ever and could have added something meaningful to the bis issues of our time, but in the end it became a quiet ordinary show with a ridiculous end. Still on of the greatest shows ever, but a bit disappointing compared with the strong beginning. What if Colonists would have been the ancestors of ancient humlons? That would have been mindblowing and maybe even meaningful. Instead we have to be afraid of toy-robots *gnaaah*
sverebom 8 months ago
@sverebom uh......unless i completely missed a 5th season, that IS how it ended
shwedda 8 months ago
@sverebom I don't think that the message for the ending was that we should be scared of toy-robots, although it was quite hilarious. Rather I think it was meant to show the futility in the attempts to break a chain of events. This has all happened before and will happen again. The importance of the ending is the extremes to which the Cylons and Humanity are willing to go through to end this chain. That is the significance of it. No matter how impossible the task, we must at the least try.
shinji1221 7 months ago
@FoggySwe You can't really compare these two shows. They are completely different apart from the space-setting and the gritty appearance.
sverebom 8 months ago
I gotta say. 2 years ago when a friend of mine started to try to get me into this show, I scoffed it. "I'm not that much of a freaking nerd dude" I said...me also being an utter and complete Star Wars freak. But one day, he forced the first season into my hands and said,"watch it...or I will eat your balls for breakfast." So with this turn of events I watched the first season.
I couldn't have been happier with my friends earlier threat to my manhood because this show has made me laugh, made me

BondSlave101 9 months ago 3
@BondSlave101 as a star trek fan, hear my opinion... BSG is so much more, in an emotional, psychological and philsophical sense... as i watched the seasons, for the first time i deeply came to question a deeper, one truth... and while watching it, at times i was genuinely scared, unsure of what truth as one is... but can you hear this song? it holds both intense grief and joy... i myself use it as compass to life... there is no absolute good, nor no absolute evil... BUT... good always wins...

Damn now that's good television!
doxide 10 months ago 5
holy shit the boy can SING
missdexterity 10 months ago 2
A deeply complex and ultimately tragic character. Personally, I believed that Gaeta's reasoning for the mutiny was solidly grounded by Adama's actions toward the Cylon rebels. These were the enemies who had destroyed their colonies (including the Six who had sabotaged their defense systems). It's not hard to imagine the rage and betrayal felt by the survivors.
Gaeta's saving moment though was when he recognized the evil that Zarek had allowed to taint their cause, and ended it. Farewell, sir.

Gatea really drew the short stick. First they complained that he didn't fight the cylons hard enough and was almost killed because of it. Then when he put his foot down and refused to stop fighting the cylons he's gets executed for it.
Bobbo110 10 months ago 5
You want to know why this is the first track on the Season 4 soundtrack? Because Gaeta and Zarek's mutiny is the best story line from Season 4. Whether you agreed or didn't agree with Gaeta's decision in siding with Zarek, the show did such an amazing job of explaining his position and why he did what he did. And we all know there are people who supported and who opposed Gaeta and what he became in the end.

HOLLY CRAP!!!!
xjimdim 11 months ago
I've connected to Gaeta most out of all the characters of the show. Since episode one, where all he was know as was Mr. Gaeta. To watch him journey such a horrible road, and his morals warp as much as they did, and how he ultimately dies because of it. It truly stuck with me, and scared me a little, as I believe I would have done the same if I ever went through everything he did.
That was the beauty of this show. You could relate, and see yourself in at least one character.

In real life, everybody would have supported Gaeta's mutiny. The situation was darker than ever. There was just no hope. And about the lyrics... Can be about Starbuck, Roslin or even Galactica?
LPSpeppers 1 year ago 4
@LPSpeppers speak for yourself. Gaeta's character is a tribute to close mindedness and what happens when you cling to the past so desperately, that you lose out on your own future. He represented the flaws of humanity, despite how morally righteous he thought he was
Ghats212 10 months ago 21
@Ghats212 Actually, I see it differently - as a tragedy of a man, whose worst fear and the anti-thesis to everything he stands for as an army man and as a person becoming the accepted norm and the new path of his entire people (the cylons, who have killed most of humanity and almost eradicated the human civilization, were becoming the new allies and friends of all - with everyone seeming to forget what they have lost to those "abominations", as he sees them). He just couldn't accept that.
AngelStark 5 months ago in playlist AngelStark's Favorited Videos 4
@Ghats212
Wow. That's not how I interpreted Gaeta at all. HE was the secret hero of New Caprica, he served faithfully under Adama for years. The trauma of being turned against by his shipmates and friends combined with the loss of his leg drove him to a faulty decision to team with Zarak. He lost his way--I think Baltar is more the representation of the flaws of humanity.
tromboneteach 5 months ago 58
@tromboneteach Many characters have plotlines and stories that show the "flaws" in human nature, no one character is representative of that. Baltar is more a play on ego and narcissism.
DHScherocha 5 months ago
@DHScherocha I agree, with you, I don't think that any ONE character was all good or all evil. The above was a response to LPSpeppers saying that Gaeta "represented the flaws of humanity." I think that's a really harsh judgment about Gaeta. I think Baltar is much more flawed.
And if Baltar is representing Ego and Narcissism, those are flaws, no?
