At age 19, Vyjayantimala in Devdas became a standard by which to evaluate how a tawaif should cope with her status and challenges.The movie had some of the best mujras ever of Bombay cinema because of V, but she was also , to me,  the best of all stars in the movie. The range of emotions demanded of her was greater than Suchitra Sen's, and she delivered! Of course, the beauty of Lataji's song is incomparable as always. Thanks, rumahale.
