There's really no wrong answer if you choose between the 300 and the Genesis - the Genesis gets a facelift for 2012. How about another challenge with the SRT-8 300 and the Genesis R-spec. It's a battle with the super V8s. MotorTrend should invite the mob bosses with the upgrades.
the last test was not fair cause it took the dude to in the genesis 4s to get in but in 300c it took 3s plus their not testing the car their testing driver skill (not complaining just saying)

I like the style of 300 more than the Hyundai - but not by much. If I were planning to own either of these vehicles for more than 5 years I'd pick the Hyundai. Chrysler has a terrible reputation for a reason. I'm not hating on Chrysler - I currently a 2010 RAM. Up until this year all Chrysler product interiors looked worse than they did in the 80s. Glad to see they are finally spending money on them and fixing the suspensions as well. Hopefully they will prove to be reliable vehicles soon.
I've owned 5 Chryslers since 85 and currently have a 2010 RAM HEMI. I've also had a 2002 Hyundai Accent, 2002 Hyundai Sonata. Hyundai's quality definitely beats Chrysler. Drive one - see for yourself.
With Chryslers I never put more than 70,000 miles, most had several problems, the caravan tranny went at 42K! The Accent I put 70K miles, not ONE problem. The Sonata I put 130,000 miles and had a few very minor issues. Hyundai has come a long way. Sad to see uninformed comments by so many.
@pcmr57 I agree with hyundai coming a long way but so has chrysler since 85 2011-12 is entirely different story of engines transmissions and interior quality for them. 85 you might as well be talking about 1970 same goes for up to early 2000s for chrylsler quite different. I think they both make good vehicles.
What do you mean Chrysler has come a long way since 85? The interiors in their vehicles have been complete junk until 2011. Even now they are only about even with many auto makers and certainly are not surpassing anyone. The new interiors just seem light years ahead for people used to driving other Chryslers.
Honda, Toyota, Acura and drivers of other import brands have enjoyed those types of interiors since the later 80s. Chryslers are still plagued with quality issues too.

You've missed my point entirely. Hyundai has improved steadily since 85 and now at the top of the class. Chrysler failed to learn from it's mistakes and has gone bankrupt twice now. They only thing different from 2010 to 2011 is the grade of interior materials and some suspension tuning. Still you can't even rank their vehicles as average among their competitors. Their reliability, styling, and efficiency all sorely lack other brands - even for 2011.

I've been reading Car and Driver, Automobile and other magazines for thirty years. Plus I know my way around a car. Now having written that, I like Chryslers. I defended them for years and was laughed at for it. Enough is enough. They have to get their act together. That means building a car that will not only look good, and have 'soft' touch materials, but will last 180,000 miles or more - like just about every Honda or Toyota since the mid 80's.

Their new V6 - just caught up to engines by Honda and Nissan and others since the 80s and 90s. Their new Durango and Grand Cherokee are beautiful but are based on Mercedes vehicles don't forget.
I'm also aware of the 8sp tranny. It won't impress me until it's been proven reliable and can handle years of trouble free service.
Many people for probably economic reasons have put 180k on a vehicle. To them quality is more important than people who can afford to replace vehicles more frequently.

I'm looking forward to see the dodge dart release since they were unable to make a proper small car. Maybe fiat will be another good push for them. The released photos look decent. I hope they offer a mopar engine srt-4 version of it. I mean 1.4L is nice for the 40mpg folks but some like performance.

@pcmr57 No, the Grand Cherokee and Durango arn't based on Mercedes, and they haven't been since Daimler was cut out of Chrysler. The 04-09 Durango, and 05-10 G. Cherokee were based on Mercedes, like the 06-10 Charger and 05-10 300's, but 2011 and newer, no more.
The new Grand Cherokee and Durango are based off the new Mercedes M Class Platform. Seriously, you can look that up in five seconds on Google. I was approved for 280k and of all the cars I test drove I couldnt go past the 300c. It was cheap, powerful, good on gas (compared to the other v8s i test drove) and cheap on maintenance and a car I didnt want to try and cosmetically change it cause 9 times out of 10 when you try to improve the cosmetics of a car it ends up being rice in one form or another. All cars to me are a waste of money so when I choose a car I try to waste it wisely.

Everyone I know that bought one including family members, the tranny didn't make it pass 30,000 miles. Chrysler suck. And to this day even the dash can be ripped out by hand and stolen in 35 seconds. I owned a 1991 Jeep Cherokee and even then you can steal everything from the dash in seconds. 20 Years later same ol Crap.

I was approved for 280k and of all the cars I test drove I couldnt go past the 300c. It was cheap, powerful, good on gas (compared to the other v8s i test drove) and cheap on maintenance and a car I didnt want to try and cosmetically change it cause 9 times out of 10 when you try to improve the cosmetics of a car it ends up being rice in one form or another. All cars to me are a waste of money so when I choose a car I try to waste it wisely.
