Thanks for your comment. But I think there is a misunderstanding here. What he is playing is "not" music. Just a demonstration of a finger exercise. It's all about developing related muscles and muscle memory. You make music when you make music, you practice when you practice. They are totally different things. So I think these facts are important while you evaluate that kind of tutorial videos. And if ask to musicians around you, most probably they will say...
... that practicing is a boooring thing. But you need to practice if you want to be sound clean and make more expressive music. Well, it depends according to what kind of music you want to make of course. Thanks, again.
@mkozal Then practice things with sense, not just scales and arpegios. You must know them, but they are tools to find different ways, licks or phrases. The great musicians don't practice like this. They practice what they hear in their minds. People like Wes Montgomery, Mike Landau, Clapton, SRV, Hendrix, Django Reinhardt... they never sat with a metronome and played scales and arpegios for hours. They just practiced music, that is what you are supossed to do.
@mkozal Well, then listen to their interviews. If any of them says that the used to sit with a metronome and practice scales for hours, I'll kiss your feet.
wow, hard to believe this was 4 years ago. Sorry we couldn't reply you guys. That was my brother playing guitar but unfortunately we are living in different countries. But as soon as we meet, we gonna make new videos or at least just one. Thanks for watching the video and your comments.
gardaş super :) yalnız ikinci çaldığını da ilki gbi tekrar yawaş çalarsan gençlre katgın büyük olur :D teach it man :D bu arada ikinci çaldığında legato war mı ?
dunno about u guys but is there any tab or something that he is playing (some scale or anything) i mean he is playing according to some scale or something.. any help?
He is playing in the C Major scale, starting on the 12 fret in the Phrygian mode. He plays the scale degrees [ 1 2 3 4 3 2 | 1 2 3 4 5 6 | 4 5 6 7 6 5 | 4 5 6 7 1 2 | 7 1 2 3 2 1 | 7 1 2 3 4 5 ] all in a 6/8 time signature (or sextuplet polyrhytm), and plays this through on every mode in the C Major scale, ending in the Lydian mode.
just a helpful hint for everyone ALOT OF GREAT EXERSISES that are very similar to these can be found in Adam Kadmons book "the guitar Grimoire Exersises" Also great job thx:)
i've been playing guitar for a long time, but i seem to be stuck where i'm at, would you suggest i dive into scales even more or just technique practice? if you could throw me some practice tips i would really appreciate it thanks for the lesson.
weasle243 if your dedicated then it will take a short amount of time really i dont count hours or time myself i just keep playing and working at it if you were to ask some great guitar player how many hours they practice theyd probably say that it varies.
