  • koji kondo is a great musician ...

certainly as a great film, it takes great music ...

but just think Kubrick or D. BOYLE, must be able to combine music and gaming such as music and filmography ....

certain that the soundtracks are historical in mind, and we would like more recognition for musicians Videoludica

  • @TheAdvancedHybrid Yeah :P

  • Great list from all excellent games. Brings a bit of nostalgia actually hearing some. I actually have to agree with all your choices.Oh btw I subbed MooreGamesJay. :D

  • Nice list, man!

I recommend listening to Sona Mi Areru Ec Sancitu from Panzer Dragoon Saga. It's a beautiful track.

  • Some great game music from yesteryear Jason (don't include the YEAR i have stated in the search ) -:

Agony Main Theme (HQ) - Amiga (1991)

Unreal Amiga - Title Theme (1990)

Driller Commodore 64 Loader Tune (1987)

Ok i will leave you alone now dude, i have flooded your comments section quite enough ;)

  • Yeah, usic is such a huge part of a game, it creates an ambient feeling, and gets you even more in the game and story.

with Multiplayer idc about music, Singleplayer yes.

  • Too true Jason, music is one of the most important aspects of gaming. Great choices by the way, Sonic and Final Fantasy are the kings of video game music

  • I ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY KNIGHTS !!

  • Awwwwww........the Mario Bros. Theme Song didn't make it to your list.....this makes me sad :,(

  • MGS 2 Music :P

  • sick choices bro, love them all :)

  • metal gear solid has amazing music

  • good suff, even tho i'm not too familiar with most of the ones u showed... my personal favorites though would be from games like Heavy Rain, RDR, the metal gear series, and the old skool mario games... those are just a few that i can think of

  • -]. Yeah, games music's a lot underated these days .[-

  • The resident evil remake music, it's eerie and spooky. I think it's a masterpiece

  • Every epic moment has an epic song to match it. Like in MGS4 where you return to Shadow Moses Island :D

  • moon patroll for the atari 2600 had awesome music aswell as most of the old sega games.

  • Sonic 1s soundtrack actually makes me soggy in my crotch! this is a fact!

  • Ar tonellico is pretty amazing,..

  • I agree with you Moore. My favorite is Okami OST. Good vid. :)

  • There are a lot of games with really great soundtracks that I love, and some of my favorite game composers are Inon Zur and Jack Wall.

And to mention some of my favorite tracks...

/watch?v=oWFEVbfCcOY - Dragon Age: Origins - Main Theme

/watch?v=CdKwLkEGjhg - Dragon Age: Origins - I Am The One

    /watch?v=EOB278741rQ - Fallout 3 - Main Theme

    /watch?v=e2z28mutY1E - Mass Effect 2 - Suicide Mission

/watch?v=V3EOibiVzq4 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Main Theme

  • @ZZenoXX FO3 main theme? The Ink Spots? Set the World on Fire.

  • @PazouwhProductions Though being a great song, I wouldn't really count the Ink Spots as gaming music. I was speaking of the OST in these games, original songs made specifically for the games. 'I Don't Want To Set The World On Fire' is just a song that's played on the radio.

  • @ZZenoXX Oh I get it now I see the basic song to fallout it kicks ass.

  • Zelda: The Wind Waker great OST.

  • I agree bro, game soundtracks are beautiful and they deserve way more attention than what they already have. great vid, i also subbed to moregamesjay thing

  • and Zone of Enders 2nd Runner now. Good opening and techno music going on

  • Great picks! I really dig the one on final fantasy. What do you think about Akira Yamoaka's music on Silent Hill? (I might of spelt the name wrong lol)

  • Ocarina of Time opening

    Final Fantasy VII theme

    Mass Effect 2 theme

Metal Gear Solid 3's SNAKE EATER song & instrumental was beautiful

Kingdom Heart's series music is pretty good

Sonic Adventure 2 battle had some great beats that was a big part of the game

Castlevania first level music was great on NES

That's all I can think of

  • ive subed :D

  • thats a nice collecshun u got dere

  • My favorite music is Final Fantasy VII, Uncharted 1 and 2, Metal Gear all of them, Little Big Planet 2, Mass Effect 2, Gears of War 2, Halo: ODST, James Bond Everything or Nothing, 24: The Game, Peter Jackson's King Kong the Game. This is on the top for me and like Jason Moore says, this is my favorite it doesn't have to be yours.

  • Hehehe. Don't get me started on video game soundtracks. Got tons of that music in my playlists and on my computer. I love all types of music, but I started w/ music from Genesis games (Streets of Rage 1-3, Sonic 1-3, and Final Fight CD to name a few.) From Dynasty Warriors to Devil May Cry, Virtua Fighter 5, Parappa the Rapper and much more; I love video game music.

  • I like the music from the Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Along with a lot of other music from too many different games.

  • Nights

  • WHERE IS ZELDA???????!!!!!!!

  • WTF mate you just got hench out of nowhere!

  • @samsaint11 Jason hasnt just started working out, older subs would know that!

  • Just found that song, according to the YouTube title it's called Doom: Club Doom. Let's just say I must have been young and impressionable because it's hardly a classic, comes damn close to giving you a headache, but saying that I still think it fits in with the game quite well.

  • Already subbed man :)

The Metal Gear Solid games are a good shout.

  • @StreetFighterGamer i know thanks mate.

& yeah MGS's soundtracks are amazingly made.

  • I was made fun of in school for admitting to listen to video game music

  • @Newbpwn3r180 Really ???

  • @MooreGamesJay yep they say its nerdy

  • @Newbpwn3r180 Dont listen to them mate, all music & any music is worth listening too. doesnt matter where it comes from.

  • @MooreGamesJay true that..thanks

  • @MooreGamesJay Not sure, I'm not a massive fan of that kind of music really, but at the time I'd never heard anything like it and it's stuck with me ever since, hopefully I'll find it on here and let you know what I think, as for soundtracks to games I know I still like, that'd have to be Castlevania: Simons Quest and Double Dragon 2 on the NES.

  • I keep reading about a lot of people asking for Custom Soundtracks lately to be added to their games, it kinda depress me that from people. Videogame Soundtracks since the NES Era is what inspired me to go to college and become a composer for Videogames, but I might just go for movie or television as a profession instead.

  • @Angelzvx Custom music on "certain" games i can understand, but i believe that at least 98% of games should have a unique soundtrack!!! its very important in creating the atmosphere & pacing of a game. It would be a sad day for gaming if they stop doing this!!!

I hope you continue to do what you like. Give games a chance i say!

  • @JASONMOORE87 I understand that they must be atmospheric and work with the pacing of the game. I find some games are so silent these days too, and not because they have to be. I already find it sad that I can't remember any current gen game's title screen music except for a very small selection.

It's still in consideration, but who knows at this point. I'm still purchasing OSTs and ASTs for reference material, something to get me inspired.

  • @JASONMOORE87 My take on this is that games music used to have a "unique" aspect to them because they were "chip tunes" on the early gaming consoles and computers of the 80's and 90's but lately we are getting an odd movie like representation of music in gaming and MP3's of rapper and shitty metal bands.

As Angelzvx said, what inspired him was the NES Era which then led him to music and that is what also happened on the C64 for many musical composers today on computing platforms.

  • @JASONMOORE87 I do understand that the level of quality had to increase within gaming and it did with the advent of some 16 & 32 computing platforms such as the Amiga and the Acorn Archimedes and then later on with PC's with Soundblaster cards and consoles such as the SNES which allowed "samples" to be used but still retained that "chip tune" uniqueness because that is what they essentially were.

You are right! Music is FUNDAMENTAL in gaming, it builds such a great atmosphere and draws you in.

  • @JASONMOORE87 Do a YouTube search for -:

    C64 developer interviews: Ben Daglish

You will find it interesting Jason, and it's great to see you are doing well mate :)

  • What i meant to say was "with the advent of some 16 & 32 BIT computing platforms". ;)

  • @Angelzvx

Generally when people ask for custom soundtrack options it's for the parts of the game that HAVE no music.

For example, most FPSs don't have music when you play online. Killzone 2 doesn't, so I play music from Quake, Doom and Timesplitters to make it more exciting.

On my second run of Bayonetta, I'll play music from Devil May Cry. I listened to the OST on my first run and decided I didn't like it.

Just because people ask for the option doesn't mean they don't appreciate the music.

  • @MentalRoXXorGear You'd be surprised, I've seen people ask for Custom Soundtrack all over, even for games full of music. Most FPS don't have it on this "standard" now that players need to hear the footsteps and gun shots through their surround sound. I was quite surprised that MGS4 of all games had so much music to play online.

  • I love video game music, i love it so much that i made a playlist of all my favorites. :D

  • @ShuKurusugawa Its good to see you respect the hard work they put into making them mate.

  • how big are your arms btw in inches?

  • man your massive lmao

    but great picks jase

  • WHATS THE FIRST GAME, IM GONNA DO SOMETHING WITH IT ON MY MP5K

  • @kroser1983 First game?

  • @MooreGamesJay 0:52 need to know the game so i can get the song from it. please sir.

  • @kroser1983 Jak II - Mountain Temple Music

  • @MooreGamesJay cheers fella

  • Damn, you were spot on with those choices! Only thing missing was Nate's Theme from Uncharted.

  • @slimmbob Uncharted's ost is wonderfully made, its indeed a joy to listen to.

but i never picked any "new" / "this gen" music, simply because i dont know if i will still listen to it 5 years from now etc. thats when i know its truely amazing music.

    my opinion obviously.

  • Anyone know what that Techno song on Doom was called of what track number it was, wouldn't mind having another listen if I can find out.

  • @TheSirdraven Do you think you will like the track all these years later?

  • Persona, The World ends with you, and Kingdom Hearts had some cool soundtracks. liked your picks by the way.

  • @WarRock97 Thanks man & yeah Kingdom Hearts had a lovely soundtrack. I actually hope to see a Kingdom Hearts 3 someday *fingers crossed*

  • Doom on the PS1 had a weird Techno/industrial kind of tune on it when you played it thru a CD player, can't stand that kind of music but it sticks in my mind because it was the 1st time I realised you could play PS games in a CD player.

  • There was a tag doing the rounds on this a few months ago and my top 5 consisted entirely of 16 bit titles. I guess that was the old retro subconscious kicking in and nostalgia/rose tinted glasses getting the edge (again)........ anyway, nice to see you mix it up a bit with mostly modern choices :)

  • @bluetonic78 Indeed so lol, although i diddnt choose any from this gen, most of my favs are from 1991-2005, the retro gaming scene are very fond of atari / snes / mega drive titles. 1984-1994 But sadly i never really grew up in those years. Although i still love the Midi format.

  • @MooreGamesJay LOL Ah ok, I just went out on a whim and presumed they were mostly current-gen as I hadn't heard of a lot of them.......that'll teach me for being a pretentious firty sumfink! :)

  • Shinobi 3 on the genesis had some great tracks, some of my favorites of all time!

  • @thewatcher180 What kind of music was it - techno / japanese??

  • Damn!!! You put nights into dreams!!! That games soundtrack is so great! You should listen to the soundtrack to dragon quest 8 if you havent already!

  • @zeroXshinobi t:D Thats actually cool that you have played Nights Into Dreams!! Because i wasnt too sure if people would recognize it. i feel like a oddball when i say how good it was & they look at me like it never existed lol!! & cheers for the idea for the video.

  • I've always loved video game music. For some reason I always like music in SEGA games. I love MGS music and Jak and Daxter music. Basically every game shown in this video. Also, I remember when I could always put a PS1 game in the CD layer and listen to the soundtrack.

  • @monstercrabee Yeah LOL, i remember that as well, the discs had music on th menu that you could listen too like it was a real CD, i'm guessing that was its format actually??

  • I LOVE the game music. some games have truly amazing music. i even sometimes download the soundtracks and listen on my ipod. amazing. you have to check out world ends with you soundtrack on ds, as wellas a fairly new game, called radiant historia for ds. and cant go wrong with the uncharted music. or definitely galaxy music. amazing orchestral soundtrack.

  • @gamereviewsss I actually love the Mario soundtracks, it has that kind of feel good music. Zelda's alsoa great listen. Thats the thing about gaming music, it has that emotional attachment, because we remember back to the games we heard them on.

  • Seriously Jay you really do crack me up ''no ones gonna give a shit''

  • @Tonyippee haha well it was abit harsh but its kinda true.

So do you have any fav gaming music tracks?

  • @Tonyippee Streets of rage 2 end theme

    mario 64 dire-dire-docks

    final fantasy X Zanarkand

    Death smiles Burning Halloween Town

    Sonic 2 sky chase zone

Thats some of my fave sound tracks :D if you get time give them a listen. i think we have the same chilled out taste in video game music

  • @Tonyippee Sonic 2: Sky Chase Zone is such a classic, i love that track with a passion. In fact i love alot of the 2d sonic tracks. FFX as well has many i love. Gona go check out Death smiles Burning Halloween Town.

  • :3 @ Balamb Garden theme.

    Unforgetable.

  • @Lucidius134 You a fan of the theme?

  • @JASONMOORE87

Yeah, BACK IN MAH DAY when I was in grade 6 I rented FF8 from the near by game store but the first disc was scratched so it'de freeze wheenver I got into a fight. Needless to say I spent a few hours wondering around and talking to people before returning it, but the theme kinda statyed with me. Then I got acopy from a friend and yeah. Havn't tried 7 but I liked 8 more then 9, 10, 11,, 2, 4 and 5. Just, the last disk. I hte the ending.

  • And Clint Mansell is British, C'mon man.

  • @WINxTEC LMAO i need to check out the guy.

  • I keep my TV on Mute LOLZ XD

  • My tops would be Uncharted 2, MGS4 ,Assassins Creed 2, Mass Effect 2, Fallout 3 & New Vegas, Oblivion, GTA IV, Bioshock and God of War.

  • @Cerberus5159 And Castlevania Lord of Shadow.

  • @Cerberus5159 You really love this gen for your gaming music :)

  • @MooreGamesJay Definitely, this is the gen of orchestrated music, which I love.

  • My favourite soundtracks have to be: Rose of May (FF9). Sonic 2: Chemical Plant. FF7 Aeris's theme. And, Final Fantasy VI The Decisive Battle. And the Good Old, Metal Gear Solid 2 theme. =P

  • @YouNMe1 Those are some great picks :)

  • good stuff Jason...

  • @219garyind Thanks :)

  • Silent Hill 2 - Butterflies. Excellent song to wake up on the morning and go to work.

  • Oh and yes, I'm back. :D

  • Nice putting in a song from a Jak game. But didn't that music come from Jak II not Jak 3? I haven't played the games in ages but I think I'm right.

Nice putting in Metal Gear and Final Fantasy music. Those two franchises always deliver epic music. My personal favorite from Final Fantasy was Tifa's theme in FFVII or in MGS1's The Best is yet to come.

  • @CathalOHara Indeed it indeed was from Jak 2 mate, the images choosen was quickly picked because the editing was taken way too long :s I love Tifa's theme also. infact i love the entire FF7 soundtrack lol.

  • @JASONMOORE87 Everyone seems to love VII's the most. And I do too as a matter of fact. :P But there are more of them out there like you shown VIII and X-2. Can't forget them. :D

  • i think i'm subbed to all ur channels already XD ....& have been taking the roids, jason?

  • @purin172003 No i'm not on steriods, never have been. I'm on a diet lol.

  • @JASONMOORE87

ah, ok; that clears things up!

  • Favorite soundtracks; Beyond Good and Evil, Final Fantasy VI, Halo 2, Jet Set Radio Future and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

  • @abcdefh1992 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was brilliant in its music, i actually had 2 themes ready for this video, but i decided to cut them :(

  • @abcdefh1992

Not a single N64 game on the list, suck it :P

  • @strykah92 That's because N64 music is SO great that it transcends the word music and becomes an entirely different art form.

  • @abcdefh1992

Yeah, the art of 16-bit midi, LMFAO!

  • @strykah92 *Drowns the peasants words with the Lon Lon Ranch theme*

  • @abcdefh1992

    /watch?v=fZ2F240PqaQ (Sega Saturn version)

    /watch?v=spBhkm_UNQw (N64 version)

    How's that for "drowned" ;)

  • @strykah92 I would continue to own you but after I typed that comment I actually did go and listen to the Lon-Lon Ranch theme and had myself a nostalgiagasm and am in no condition to discuss this matter any further. :P

  • My favorite music is in Gta IV by Seryoga Name Mama its in Vladivastok FM lol

  • @Armenianps3 Do you like any of the previous GTA soundtracks?

  • @MooreGamesJay Yes GTA Vice City's soundtracks were awesome and San Andreas soundtracks were awesome too

  • Oh, and how the fuck could I forget Knight of the Old Republic. Love the Dantooine theme. Its like super-ultra-mega nostalgia.

  • My favourite soundtracks are from Mass Effect 1 (Mass Effect 2 has the same soundtrack, but Mass Effect 3 will have a new composer). I also love the Metroid Prime series OSTs, Metal Gear 1 & 2, the Mechwarrior series (I guess after over a decade or two, it grows on you). Also like some from a few Japanese games I doubt you ever heard of.

  • @MisterDyslexo I love the start screen (Main theme) to Mass Effect 1, that could have made the video actually. Gaming music should be respected for its uniqueness. I hate when people say its just second rate compared to pop music etc.

  • @MisterDyslexo

ME3 OST will rock thanks to Clint Mansell.

  • @WINxTEC What work has Clint Mansell done?

  • @JASONMOORE87 Requiem for a Dream is the most popular...and holy shit I didn't know Clint Mansell was working ME3. Badass

  • @fearofmars LOL i've sadly never heard of him or his work :S

  • @JASONMOORE87

In videogames, I think nothing. But he is a great composer for Movies, from Requiem for a Dream to Black Swan OST, and the most famous and overused song from him is Requiem for a Dream or Lux Aeterna.

I believe Mass Effect 3 will be the 1st game on his career as a composer.

  • damn someone beat me to it -.-

  • You know I'm already subbed :) The Sonic music brought back memories...

  • first comment woooo! and LMAO look at you tensing your arms! gangsta!

  • @RobeatWorld lmao well im no gangsta :L

  • Nights - best Sonic Team gaem evar!

  • @strykah92 Its good to see someone else who has enjoyed that game, because i know only a very limited number of people who even seem to know it exists lol.

  • @JASONMOORE87

I know right, everyone else I know who wanted a Saturn was like "me want new Sonic game :'(" which as innovative as I think Nights was, things would've turned out alot better for the Saturn if they brought back more games from the Mega Drive.
