The movie wasn't BAD, the only thing that killed it for me was shamalan, I think the script was solid, but they should have had more that Avatar comedy.

noah is a nice kid. he's like the real-world-version of aang to be honest. he even sound like him... =_=" kinda pissed off of how the gaps weren't filled. important scenes/episodes were taken off... as result, the movie didn't make sense.. effects and noah was cool. what ruined it all was how the fight scenes looked and the LAME script. and the humor, which was a huuuge part of the series, was held back that's why it was disappointing. (ahahah too attached to the series!!)

Wow.. I hated him for playing Aang but now I know its being of fucken M. Night for making him boring. HE IS A PERFECT AANG YET ALL OF HIS KID LIKE PERSONALITY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN. To think you couldn't hate M. Night even more.

noah ringer was an okay aang i guess. he reminds me of aang sort of but his acting could use some improvement. as for katara and sokka's actors, what was m night thinking? katara and sokka obviously have tan/brown skin. it seems almost like m night didn't even try picking actors for their roles. it doesn't matter what race katara and sokka's actors were, as long as they have brown skin and resemble the characters and have talent. im pretty sure there are tons of talented dark skinned actors.
Now I know this movie was Shyamalan's fault. :( This kid, behind the camera is much more like the Aang we saw in front of the camera. What happened Shyamalan?
@what0080 listen, here's the problem, the acting "sucked" along with most everything else thanks to paramount ordering a re-shoot of almost the entire movie, this messed up the emphasis originally on zukos scar! m night wrote a 2 hour 15 minute long movie, and SHOT IT! the original had REAL acting and fight scenes that were REMOVED and RESHOT in order for paramount to save money on the conversion to 3D. look up "The Last Airbender (Great Movie) SPECIAL EDITION" by "directorsandwriters"
@PrincessaRosalinda12 if you mean the pegs, it seems to be a game alot of people play on movie sets (probably elsewhere too, but it seems to be popular with film crews). I think the aim is just to attach a peg to someone's clothing without them noticing.

this kid was the perfect actor for the movie, if only the director knew what he was doing in this film. I think the studio should make the next movie and keep Noah as Aang but replace Shyamalan. Shyamalan just does not get the balance between being a kid growing up and finding yourself versus saving the world.

He seems like a great kid :) considering he's never done acting before, he looks really at home with everything he has to do. Not many child actors can really carry a lead role in a big movie, even WITH prior experience, but Noah did an amazing job in TLA (whatever you think of the movie as a whole).
Considering he's now been picked up for Cowboys and Aliens, I think it's a safe bet he's going to be the next big teen actor (without just being a talentless pretty-boy).

I just saw this movie recently. I was interested from the trailers but when the reviewers bashed it to hell I thought I might have wasted my money if I saw it. Needless to say that's the last time I listen to the media and their supposed "expert reviews". I thought it was GREAT! I never saw an episode of Avatar before and honestly it made me want to see the cartoon now. Those of you who hated and don't want sequels are being selfish, I want to see what else happens, great movie!

watching this just breaks my heart. for the kid, the fans and the movie itself. I can see more of why Shyamalan said he was the perfect Aang and to be just himself when acting his part. He is so adorable! So playful and young and innocent. I can understand why Shyamalan picked him for Aang! Instead of giving him a script, they should have just brought him to the set and said "Go ye forth." That probably would have made Aang more believable. Just let the kid be himself.
it would be better if they don't seeing how Avatar: The Legend of Korra is coming out next year, i would really clash imo. There's no reason to do a 2nd and 3rd movie, we all knew what happened, and me as a dedicated avatar fan would like to keep it that way.

@jetblue1085 it's suppose to be the correct way to say his name because for the movie they went back into the roots of the eastern culture the show is based on. apparently we're saying the names with an american accent, "ong" is the correct pronunciation, but to us americans it'll always be "Aang." I think this was mostly done for the other countries that would see this movie, especially the ones in asia.

@analysethis95 i would never had guessed if i'd never known he was a frist timer.i can tell why they left out some things.the first season was like over 14 hours long not to mention the places.All the guy wanted to do
was tell the main story.The good news is there will be more characters in the second movie(crosses fingers).

What I think is if he acted like that in the movie with a lot of engery andhappy I think that would have made the movie..not that I'm saying he's a bad acter just that in the cartoon he's that way .... It would have made sense

He seems like a great kid :) considering he's never done acting before, he looks really at home with everything he has to do. Not many child actors can really carry a lead role in a big movie, even WITH prior experience, but Noah did an amazing job in TLA (whatever you think of the movie as a whole).
Considering he's now been picked up for Cowboys and Aliens, I think it's a safe bet he's going to be the next big teen actor (without just being a talentless pretty-boy).

well that was interresting and i think the fans are expecting way too much for that movie.... for example y his name is pronouce "on" not "ang"
i however i like difference between the "movie vs cartoon" and there's a lot of copy right issues to go through, able to get this movie keep on going..... and i'm kind of glad that koyashi warriors wasn't there.......what MAJOR part they did in the 1st season? the movie is the 1st season and how are u going to bunch up all 1st season into one movie?

I think that the guy who plays Jao, he was a moron to. Terrible actor. Not saying I could do better, but that is not my profession. What do you think?

@despairedboy I never said it would make it a masterpiece. It would explain a bit more. To make it a masterpiece you need a totally new crew and director. And my about Zhao. I thought it was Joa. LOL. The Last Airbender is a great story. To get a great movie, you really have to be talented at making movies. And this dude knight, obviously isnt.

I just saw this movie recently. I was interested from the trailers but when the reviewers bashed it to hell I thought I might have wasted my money if I saw it. Needless to say that's the last time I listen to the media and their supposed "expert reviews". I thought it was GREAT! I never saw an episode of Avatar before and honestly it made me want to see the cartoon now. Those of you who hated and don't want sequels are being selfish, I want to see what else happens, great movie!

watching this just breaks my heart. for the kid, the fans and the movie itself. I can see more of why Shyamalan said he was the perfect Aang and to be just himself when acting his part. But with poor direction and ... o man. well, no one died at least. still, a movie like this to exist in the line of Hollywood movies, based from a big epic franchise is just painful to bear

He is so adorable! So playful and young and innocent. I can understand why Shyamalan picked him for Aang! Instead of giving him a script, they should have just brought him to the set and said "Go ye forth." That probably would have made Aang more believable. Just let the kid be himself.

it would be better if they don't seeing how Avatar: The Legend of Korra is coming out next year, i would really clash imo. There's no reason to do a 2nd and 3rd movie, we all knew what happened, and me as a dedicated avatar fan would like to keep it that way.

@jetblue1085 it's suppose to be the correct way to say his name because for the movie they went back into the roots of the eastern culture the show is based on. apparently we're saying the names with an american accent, "ong" is the correct pronunciation, but to us americans it'll always be "Aang." I think this was mostly done for the other countries that would see this movie, especially the ones in asia.
