nvm i figured out that you can do operation anchorage before this or he will attack u. So i just reverted back to the save before operation anchorage. I hope this helps ppl

Lol I just did it it still work. I don't have any DLC nor anything, just the standart game. First try I took his laser and the other thing and he didn't noticed >.<, reload then it worked =D I pickpocket his rifle in front of him xD Thanks a lot dude.

works completely fine....if you guys are having so much trouble then look up a more detailed tutorial (this one is perfectly detailed for me) and mabye one that has a commentary so you can hear someone telling you what to do....but overall this glitch is easy as a mofo

This glitch DOES work. Ive just done it on the PS3 GOTY edition and it works a treat. Just follow the video exactly and itll work out fine. Level 30 here I come!

Yes you have to clear your cache for those who have updated their fallout 3. What I'm wondering is does it matter if you're allowed into Fort Independence yet?

Guys it still works. I saw all these "error" comments about it not working. JUST FOR YOU GUYS. I redid the glitch on both GOTY edition and the regular edition (Yes I have both, one for pc, one for xbox) They both worked fine. Fallout 3 doesnt release patches anymore either. Just follow the steps in the video and it should work fine. If you use more then 16 it probably wont work. I recommend having atleast 50 sneak when doing it. It really helps. Even if you have a stealthboy its still hard...

I had 50 scrap metal, I put my companion Fawkes in my Megaton Home and slept for 3 days, I dropped enough scrap to just have 16. I go to the Outcast, give him 16 scrap metal, activate stealth boy, pick his pocket back for my metal. Turn in 14 metal, I pick pocket the 14 metal, exit pick pocket menu, and pick pocket the laser rifle. He turns hostile. What am I doing wrong?

Tried it today with 26 pieces it WORKS!. some old comments just shows alot of people don't read properly. the second time you sell all except 2 pieces, then steal all the pieces sold, then laser at the same time. NOT sell all and then leave 2 pieces when stealing.

Did it up to instructions, except using 28 scrap metals. I pickpocketed back 26, then the laser rifle, and each time he turns hostile instead of just taking back the items. BTW I'm playing on PS3 GOTY Edition.

Hmmm what platform are you playing on? Ps3, Xbox or PC? Did you make sure it wasnt working by talking to casdin? I know for a fact it works on Game of the year edition

PLEASE FOLLOW THE TUTORIAL: If its not working its because your doing the following (1) You are giving him more than 16 peices (2) You have done your missions in an order where it requires you to restart the game to complete the glitch. (3) The glitch is NOT patched, fallout never releases updates. STOP GIVING HIM A LOT OF SCRAP METAL, he can only take so much or else he goes hostile when you pickpocket it back. If you follow the tutorial exactly, you will do the glitch RIGHT. Thanks,

@Schnappichompchomp If it still doesn't work then try clearing your cache to remove any fallout updates just in case there is a patch.

When you have removed the updates start up the game and decline the updates. If it still doesnt work, you are doing it wrong.

could you take all your scrap metal you already have and put it in something and then do the glitch? like instead of using the stealth boy and looking for the scrap metal, just find it all, put it in a metal box or something etc.

Its not patched, your probably just not doing it right. Follow the tutorial EXACTLY and it should work. My brother literally did it yesterday on the xbox 360 platform and it worked perfectly.

Try pickpocketing the armor back, if he goes hostile its ok to leave and come back. There is the odd time where the glitch is unachievable because of certain things you have done in the past. If all else fails, consider starting a new file and following the tutorial step by step. Ive done this glitch on aboutt 11 different files and every time ive done it successfully. First of all your not stupid many people have this problem, No worry. So far by reading what you are doing everything is going good. I have experienced though, as well as a few others that when you have partners around they mess with your sneak Making players go hostile etc. I would reccommend leaving fawkes in your home, waiting about 72 hours. Then get to casdin repeat the steps from 16. Try standing back about 1m when pickpocketing. Let me know if it works, ill try something else.

Nope, you can be on his "bad side". And on no platforms is it patched. I know it might sound kind of weird but you may want to consider just restarting a whole file. If you do, set your Intelligence to 10 your charisma to 1 and balance everything else out. Then when you hit level 30 get the almost perfect perk. So all your specials are at 9, then collect the bobbleheads to get to 10. I know it sounds a little drastic, but it takes about 15 mins to get from lvl 2 - 20 so its worth it.

I tried this and I gave him 16 then took it back successfully and than gave him 14 and kept 2 for myself like it says in the tutorial. Then when I take 14 back successfully and try to take the laser rifle I get caught but he just attacks me and doesn't take back any scrap metal. What am I doing wrong?

If you followed the tutorial it should work. But, if you have had conflicts with him before, such as stealing things, shooting outcasts etc.. he may just attack. Try doing it over 3 or 4 times or restart the tutorial. As long as you get caught taking his main weapon, you should be ok.
