Hey Maggie! So you're now a sophomore? Your videos are great! Do you have any interest in being a college student blogger on our blog? It's a college prep and school success blog for middle and high school students, and we're looking for more student bloggers! You can let me know by commenting on our YouTube channel!
When you are taking notes make sure to use key phrases and ideas. Do not write everything the professor says, It will be much harder to concetrate on what else the professor is saying. If you have any questions write them in the margin of your paper so as to not forget if you can not ask the question right when you think of it. As for relationships (e-mail often to let your boy friend how you are doing and vica versa) and also make sure you communicate any problems going on in the realtionship.
study tips-buy a cheap tape recorder and record your professors lectures so that you can go back later and re-listen. Also print out slides if they post them online and write notes on there.
transportation-there is probably a public transit type situation, or bike or roller blades.
Maggie Maggie Maggie ten 1000s pardons! I was gone this weekend and couldn't comment until now. So comment I will!
Way to go on scoring a loft for college but alas now comes the real hard part, how to furnish. From a guy's perspective you'll need 3 things: boxes, tape, and a fridge. Nothing more, nothing less :D Now for the means of transportation, that is a bit tricky. I say go without one for a week and see how it goes!
Regarding changing the music used in the intro...I totally associate that music/your music (whatever it is) with macmarge. Just as I associate the ESPN theme (Da na na, da na na) or SportsCenter theme...with that network and nothing else. If you want to change the theme...maybe a re-mix. Punch it up a bit. But that riff is ...kinda...you.
I'm in the same position as you going to college. I was incredibly lucky to get an awesome deal on a car. My advice: Craiglist. I wouldn't doubt that I have the ability to survive without a car, but I got one anyway.
As far as LDR's, they are a gamble. I knew a couple that was separated by 5 hours and they lasted a little more than one year doing the once a month thing. It ended with some insecurity/jealousy issues.
Studying all depends on the person. If you can get away with reading the chapters then just do that. I read each chapter once as a party of how I study and it works pretty well for me. I think it all depends on what classes you're taking as well. I take mostly psychology classes, where its easy to read and answer multiple choice questions.
Last thing....cel phones....Most professors grew up in a time before the proliferation of the devices. Turn it off....not 'vibrate' ....off. I did have this professor who took her son's calls...she'd step out into the hall. We all looked at each other with furrowed brow wondering "What the heck?" Check your messages between classes. Don't be that girl. I don't know how attached you are to your cel...but. No place for texting in class.
I say similar intro....slapping a laptop closed after a wiki-definition would be new. Sit in front like starchica46 says...or 2nd row. "Participation" goes a long way. It's worth a full letter grade to some profs. If you get Cs in a tough class but participate and show you're trying...you'll probably get a B. (Not that you'd get Cs Maggie)
aw congrats. dont get drunk everynight or gain the freshman 15. omg girlfriend ill decorate for you. lol <3 oh and dont allow your roomate to treat you like a pushover when there significant other spends the night. headphones dont help. omg i wanna meet the roomie. and ask her if you snore. lol you look great btw <3 and 5 also please.
It used to be called the "Freshman 5" back in the day, but now it seems to be 15. I think you should vlog about the dorm food. Bring a to-go plate to your room and show us a sample of yer dorm grub. That could be interesting.
COMMAND STRIPS are your best friend for hanging things!!! Walmart Really cheap! Attending Class is great and will do you much good Sit in the front row professors like that. Take full advantage of their office hours! They like that too. Make sure you try to stay on top of everything hw wise. And Denote plenty of time to do it ... it will probably take more time Long distance is hard, I'm in one myself. My tip is to talk often and see eachother as much as you can. Also Mailing things are great 5
I'm going to college after my gap year so if you learn anything be sure to tell me!!!
I know I can't live without a bike, thats something that I'm buying when I get to Australia. Alot faster than walking and reasonably cheap if second hand :)
I LOVE your intro. Dont change the song. I think you should change the background but nothing else.
Its cool that your roomate is cool about your video blogging.
Long distance relationships suck. BuT..... It can work just depends on how serious u both are. And for supplies deffinately Walmart will cover you for pretty much anything and everything.
My biggest problem about college classes was trying not to procrastinate too much. If you're in tough classes, you'll need to do studying and reading and work ahead of time. I mean, all nighters are great, but you can only take so much of them before your brain fries.
Also, public transportation is my friend in college. The bus system is free for students where I go. It's nice.
Also also, I think a new intro would be nice, but I don't really have a strong opinion on anything about it.
i love this one, but your going to college. everything changes. lol. and i have no advice about any of that stuff..but ill be needing some in the next year. ha. good luck:]
ok first commentor sweeeett!!! college all i can say is take notes an pay attention an be on time an be at the class! 2-new everything since your doin a new area time to maybe g wit somthing new?....idk lol....well good luck in all you do comment me back an i hpe i get a shout out in one your videos one day!

Take lots of notes and form a study group within your class, to help you prepare.

The song is like your signature - you should keep it.
You are in dire need of new actions, however.

i like the start and ending of the intro, were you fly frome one side to an other with a funny face, so keep that, the rest is not that important ;)

-i say new everything for intro. i think you'll have fun making it.
-i would like to "meet" Jamie
Questions for Jamie:
-what are you majoring in?
-would you ever be in Maggi'es video's? that would be cool :]

Try to get all morning classes to leave the afternoon open for whatever.
If you have any remedial classes, don't blow them off.
Go to every class meeting.
Potty BEFORE class.
Find out if your university does podcast lectures on iTunes.
RedBull is great to help concentration, but don't become addicted to caffeine.
Make good friends with guys so your man has somewhere to stay when he visits.
2-New Intro: Music by B.E.P. or Reel Big Fish is preferable.
You get FIVE stars to decorate ur new dorm.
