  • Hilter was one of the greatest speakers of all time. He could move you to do great things. I will let his actions speak for themselves, but his words were beautiful.

  • @Jarrodhoefle This is Charlie Chaplin portraying Hitler... These aren't Hitler's words, or Hitler speaking them.

  • This film worth watching? Or is just the speech the good bit?

  • when he starts to go deep, his eyes open wide, like a small child seeing the world for the first time, and those who look into those eyes can see the beautiful things the beholder sees. well done

  • this moved me

  • Every human being should be made to watch this.

  • Changed my life.

  • hitler?

  • @NightmareRevised Wow, you've cracked it! For years I've been trying to figure out who Chaplin was meant to be in this movie, and you've finally figured it out. It's Hitler, of course! Thank you great scholar, your contributions to the world are much appreciated.

  • The truth, and a calling to CHANGE!

  • Let us fight for a decent world.

  • I watched the whole movie AFTER seeing this part and I must say this is the most moving part. But it always hurts my eyes as I strain my eyes not to cry. A genius.

  • We have power of fight for our future, we have the power to MAKE THE CHANGE, we are people, and you know that every single word of this speech is true and is reflects in our current world, so MAKE the change, don't expect it.

  • @nycrackhead no this movie is about (anyone correct me if I'm wrong) a Jew who gets mistaken for a powerful nazi leader and the nazi guy is expected to make this great speech about how he's going to be a dictator. And instead Chaplin gives this great speech about loving one another. This movie came out during WWII and hitler banned it in many countries but in fact he got a copy from Poland and watched it. Twice. Unfortunately there is no record of his reaction to the movie

  • I thought Charlie Chaplin was Jewish? Why is he all up in Nazi garb? Today I learned Charlie Chaplin was a self hating Jew.

  • @nycrackhead Did you listen to the speech itself? He's not a nazi, he's a for freedom and peace within all man kind

  • @nycrackhead Youre a special breed of stupid aren't you?

  • Wow this really makes me want to be the best Nazi i can be :D so inspiring

  • Seriously... who the hell are the 44 people that disliked this?

  • Wow....

  • V FOR VENDETTAAAAAAAAAA!

  • It's out of sync...

  • Charlie was unconsciously the first anonymous, anyways maybe the most powerful speech in History.

  • Good taste of music and movie brought me here.

  • Should show that 1:57 - 2:28 to the Chinese or N. Korean army.

  • Great film. I didn't know how Chaplin was going to end it, but this speech was perfect

  • This is so inspiring and timeless. I think this more relevant today than in 1940. Pass it on people.

  • ANONEEMOOSE IS LEEEJUN XD

  • Stop commenting about Anonymous and enjoy the video and it's message. I dislike that the usual barrage of inane comments still manages to make its way onto a video such as this. No fun allowed

  • press 3 to hear him say fuck the world and 4 to hear him say DIE :)

  • Whats this 'anonymous' that people say brought them here? is it another speech video?

  • this is so inspiring!

  • :')

  • I find it sad how the USA and the UK have such a strained relationship, we are essentially the same in ideology. I hear UK politicians talking about how we need to avoid being like the Americans, and I hear Americans talking about how glad they are that they escaped from British rule. It's like people think time froze when the USA became independent. It didn't. In the end, we had the same ideologies, we just didn't respect each other enough to accept we could be independent with a shared vision.

  • @KidRiviera fuck usa and uk

  • @SuperKare123

Great way to completely miss the entirety and only point of the video above, and instead stay in your own blind ignorance.

Friend, love all, hate no one, defy hate, embrace kindness.

Do away with the "Fuck -country name here-"

Be kind to our fellow man.

  • @bravocmdr I meant the government, along with every nationalist. Don't get it twisted.

  • @SuperKare123 cool story bro

  • Thumbs up if you're anonymous but weren't sent here by the collective but by your grandparents watching the original with you only for you to not understand it as a child, only for the message to now hit you deep and hard and bring around a clash of emotions that need a daily reminder to make you human and feel powerful and beautiful!

  • why arent movies made like this anymore?!

  • @TehzGriM Thought-provoking, well-thought out films don't interest people any more. They just want big booms and awesome special effects (TF2....)

  • Like on star trek rite.

  • I saw this with the help of my history teacher because we are learning the 2nd World War and I'm French. This is THE MOST WONDERFUL SPEECH I'VE EVER HEARD ! HOLY SHIT !!!

  • Listening to this song always reminds me of this quote from the movie 'I miss you more than I can bear... but we had our time together. And now I have to let go... '

  • Chills.

  • hitler

  • Anyone else think that the woman at the end looks like Maude?

  • DEFACED haha

  • ANONYMOUS.

  • Looks like in the end he's going to say "We are Anonymous, we are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget. Expect us."

  • Shut up haters. Take what you want from the video. Interpret and feel inspiration from it. Let it appeal to something inside. Listen. Enough of this comment btchyness.

  • The Leaders of the American and Middle East should sit down and watch this together.

  • fuck you hitler, you ruined that mustache for everyone

  • To the people arguing: did you miss the whole point of the video?

    'Let us all unite'

I don't care what one of you is right, just listen to what he is saying.

  • Please pick up a book sometimes. Russia and China had/have Communist Parties (note the big "C"). At no time were they even remotely communist countries. Both are/were socialist republics. As if to forever remind the ignorant, It was even in Russia's name for Christ's sake. Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик, СССР. Translation: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, USSR.

  • FUCK YOU SOPA EAT SHIT PIPA

  • @hoax150 weird isn't it?

  • it's like this speech obey music timings.....=)

  • hans zimmer must have seen this video before he composed time...i mean, they suit perfectly. :)

  • @hoax150 I wouldnt have been surprised if he had seen this.. this is considered one of the greatest monologues of all time

  • Thank God Zimmer was not a musician at that time...after this he would probably be in an POW camp...waiting to be gassed...

  • Hey fags, yeah u guys with unnaturally long ass comments and u douchebags saying vote raun Paul, Shut the fuck up this is probably the best speech in existence and it doesn't deserve to have fuckin Retarted comments that just makes the video and the motivation that u get from it completely die off. I mean seriously, WTF?

  • @AUOxan @7F0X7 Quiet! Both of you. Believe whatever you want to believe, whether the U.S. is a land of freedom, or that Americans are 'sheeple'. You can believe whatever you want, just let me listen to this great speech that should be shown to every child and a song that makes my spine tingle without end.

  • @TheSuperLegos Sorry, friend. I don't want to be ruining your time listening to this speech but this guy... He's such an ignorant twat.

  • My god, didn't he write this himself? The guy is a rhetorical master.

  • A speech that is more work of art than anything else. A stirring score. But the music drowned out the words which is what we should be listening to, it was too loud. And didn't build at quite the same pace as Chaplin's words. Still moving, though.

If possible, watch the version set to alternating images consistent with each point he makes. The music is more poignant and the images truly drive the message home.

  • Hello, I'm Charlie Chaplin. I don't say much, but when I do, it's kinda awesome. :)

  • RON PAUL 2012

  • Freedom to live one's life without being told what one can and cannot do tempered only by good will and charity. This is the philosophy and vision that I see from this very biblical speech.

  • @7F0X7 The Bible is a book of hate in many areas.

  • @AUOxan Jesus loves you.

  • @7F0X7 XD he was a fanatic in his fantasy you idiot :P

  • @showlegacy619 so you insult me because of my opinion. what a sad little man you are

  • @7F0X7 cuz MY opinion is more true to not just me , but others . so you dont need to copy what buzz lightyear said to woody idiot :P

  • Amen god bless him

  • @EagleRafter I believe his point is that communism incorporates democratic ideals, but to an extreme.

  • , _ ,

    , ,

    , ,

  • Completely out of character in the film, but an excellent speech nevertheless.

  • @RedKornah in the movie, this wasnt the dictator talking. It was a Jew mistaken for the dictator and therefore would not be promoting the actions

  • @goochii3 Oh, I know!

But the Barber that Charlie Chaplin was playing who gets mistaken for the Fooey, is completely out of character in this scene. Before he was really nervous and awkward, this speech is out of character for the Barber as well as the Fooey; which is probably deliberate for that reason.

  • @RedKornah yeah im pretty sure, especially during WWI as well, that the movies were some of the best propaganda tools, especially the comedies

  • @goochii3 Of course, yeah!

A speech like this however, would never get through the McCarthy era. The '40s were wonderfully left-wing in this respect!

  • Scary end

  • Got me thinking... And it still applies to today as well which is weird and amazing

  • @MrBIGBADWULFF I agree with you m8! It's really weird.

    Best Speech EVER by far!

  • the music drowns out the speech a bit... but it's still magnificent

  • @XyresicSounds I think it makes you listen more carefully.

  • Communist propaganda.

  • @bobbyfa3

    >In the name of democracy!

    Yep, sure is communist.

  • @EagleRafter

"Socialism without democracy is like the human body without oxygen" -Leon Trotsky, Commissar of Foreign Affairs, President of the Petrograd Soviet, and the Commissar of Military Affairs of the Soviet Union. Communism will never work without power coming from the bottom up, unlike the capitalist plutocratic system.

    Think before you speak.

  • @Thekillerrrsss I.. Um... What? I don't really know what point you're trying to make.

  • @EagleRafter Communism can be democratic. Communism doesn't necessarily mean a police state. Technically, this could be communist - but it's the good communism. It's the theoretical communism.

Socalism is what the developed countries should embrace, in my opinion. Capitalism is okay, but socalism is far better (once again, that's mostly my opinion).

  • @AUOxan Communism is government control by it's definition. Do not argue on this statement. Webster's international dictionary states under the definition of communism that "the system based on this theory in FORCE in any state. The definition also says that there is no private ownership or production of property in communism. This is NOT and will NEVER be freedom. Freedom is never based on FORCE. Freedom is an absolute of nature just as Love is. There can be no love without FREEDOM.

  • @7F0X7 com·mu·nism

noun /ˈkämyəˌnizəm/ A political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.

I never stated that is was freedom. What are you talking about? All I said was that is /could/ be viewed as communist propaganda (note PROPAGANDA). Obviously, if a country elects a communist government, if they're unhappy in the way.. Continuing

  • @AUOxan You can't abolish such a deeply valued freedom by one election and return it in another. You made the point that you were not trying to say that communism was freedom. It is in fact the opposite. Democracy is a system of government that maximizes freedom while keeping a minimal level of government control to prevent anarchy. Freedom is what this speech is all about and he even says "In the name of democracy". So I don't see this speech as being pro-communism. It's ok if you don't agree

  • @7F0X7 You're holding onto the misconception that communism and socialism requires authoritarian rule. Until you let go of your conservative American propaganda, you're going to stay ignorant to what the system really is. There is such thing as democratic communism.

Communism is mostly an economic system, not a politcal one.

  • @AUOxan YOU are the ignorant one sir. You CANNOT take away the most deeply held constitutional values of Americans without an authoritarian/draconian rule. To give up ones right to privately own and produce property is to take away their pursuit of happiness and their most fundamental freedom. If you want to take away MY property and MY guns, then as the patriots and oathkeepers say, "COME AND TAKE IT!"

  • @7F0X7 Lol, I'm not even American. And actually, you can. If enough people want to, that is. But it won't happen because you have such an irrational fear of anything that isn't a capitalist representitive democracy.

Call me when you've seen through the lies of your damn capitalist propaganda. I'm not even a communist, dammit.

  • @AUOxan "Lol" no you can't. The webster's dictionary definition of communism requires the system to be FORCED. In a way you are right though. If enough weak minded sheep bow down to their all powerful government and beg them to take away all their private property and fundamental rights. Why don't you get over your big government loving propaganda? Don't you dare talk down to me. If you want to take away my property and my guns then "come and take it!"

  • @7F0X7 A political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs

a form of socialism that abolishes private ownership Communism is a sociopolitical movement that aims for a classless society structured upon communal ownership of the means of production and the end of wage labour and private property.

Nothing about the system being forced.

  • @7F0X7 Communism is an economic system. You can have democratic communism, you can have authoritarian communism.

Karl Marx never specified it MUST be achieved through revolution and then authoritarian rule. And to be totally honest with you, this world has seen the original communist system used before. The closest example is the Soviet Union, which actually used a variant of communism, known as Marxist–Leninist.

  • @AUOxan You're flat WRONG and you quoted some revised dictionary who's author's had a political agenda of their own. My old PRINTED webster's international dictionary states that "the system based on this theory in FORCE in any state". So yes, FORCE is required for communism and you're a complete moron to say it isn't. The only way to make free people who love their constitution and bill of rights give up their property and guns without "revolution and then authoritarian rule"

  • @7F0X7 That's your problem. You keep going back to the Bill of Rights. You keep thinking the whole world is the United States. Perhaps in the United States (because of your stereotypical thinking and backwards thinking), you'll need a revolution. But in any other sane part of the world that has PROPER democracy, you can get communism without revolution and authoritarian rule.

I'm not saying you should, I'm saying you can.

You're a typical American. You think you're the best in the world

  • @AUOxan AUOxan: "A political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war"

You realize I'm just gonna post this quote every time you reply right? CLASS WAR IS REVOLUITON! You're wrong, you defeated your own argument. And yes, America's bill of rights and constitution IS the best in the entire world. No other government has every had (in theory, not in practice) such a perfect union. Keep grasping at straws and trying to argue when you know you're wrong.

  • @7F0X7 Almost all other Western countries have a similar constitution as the US. And many of them have much, much more advanced and just political systems, but i'm sure you'll just keep drinking the kool-aid and do what the corporations tell you to do.

  • @7F0X7 Class war isn't revolution, you misinformed redneck. You fail to grasp simple concepts due to your government's anti-everything-not-capitalist propaganda.

And no, your Constitution isn't the best in the world. Many of your "rights" should be surrended in this day and age. Even your Founding Fathers would agree. Like the right to bear arms. Having firearms is okay, but military grade weapons? No.

Back to the point: have you ever spoken to a real communist?

  • @7F0X7 And better yet, do you understand there's a difference between Stalinism and communism?

That, and there has never been a true communist system in place.

  • @AUOxan YES there HAS been a "true communist system in place". It was Stalin's Soviet Union. Just because you say there's a difference doesn't make it so. Stalin's government matches the dictionary definition of communism so you're wrong. And YES Class war IS REVOLUTION you fag. Classes are the motivation behind revolution. America is supposed to be class-less society yet it's very class based. That's why there is an occupy wall street "revolution" you twit. Try to take my guns and u die

  • @7F0X7 No. The Soviet Union wasn't a true communist system - shut up. You're clearly the product of decades of anti-communist propaganda designed out of fear for the Soviet Union, which wasn't proper communist. Class War isn't revolution, shut up you uneducated twat. America isn't supposed to be class-less. You're so fucking proud of your capitalism. That's why you have OWS, because you're fucking capitalist. I don't need to take your guns, you're too retarded to use them YOU. TWAT.

  • @AUOxan lol you make your retarded claims without evidence of any kind and you wanna talk down to me. Do you like embarrassing yourself? It's obvious that you are the product of the liberal, communist propaganda from the media and so called "education". It's taken me years to undo to brainwashing, conditioning that my illuminati, satanist "university" put me through, but at least I can say I'm a better person for it. When you've researched HALF of what I have, come back and talk to me.

  • @7F0X7 Embarrassing myself? You're the one talking about the Illuminati now. You pretty much destroyed all your credibility when you mentioned that.

You know what, I bet you think that China's communist. You're nothing but a stupid American hick. You're uneducated and ignorant. You view anything non-capitalist as evil when, in fact, capitalism is more "evil" than communism ever will be.

Did you know you can have authoritarian capitalism? Much like how you can have democratic communism.

  • @AUOxan No, u discredited yourself when you said that Stalin wasn't communist, that's why u ignored what I said. I KNOW my university was Illuminati at it's core, not only because of the kinds of lies they promote (the same lies that has corrupted you), but also because they there a giant black obelisk in front of the student center that has no business being there. You probably didn't even go to college, yet you call me uneducated so go ahead and keep embarrassing yourself liberal scum.

  • @7F0X7 Marxist–Leninist is a variant of communism. It is not true communism. You don't have to be a genius to work that out, your ignorant hick.

The fact that I didn't go to university is actually an insult to you, because despite your "superior education" you've proven yourself to be blinded my your imperialistic American propaganda and, therefore, uneducated.

  • @AUOxan My education was mostly liberal (sometimes full on communists) professors spewing the very lies and pro-communist propaganda that you've been suckered into. It was my own independent research that I gained perspective from. Just because I came to a different conclusion (on PURE social constructs, there is no objective, hard science to political theories) doesn't make me "uneducated". It's a matter of values, but you had to talk down to me and tell me to "get educated".

  • @7F0X7 You proved yourself to be uneducated (or at least ignorant) when you said that communism wasn't able to be democratic and insisted that it had to be authoritarian.

Do you think that capitalism can only be democratic and not authoritarian?

  • @AUOxan The FACT is that I am more educated than you. Capitalism is based on freedom of choice and competition and an authoritarian government (like America's now) would subvert it. This is America's problem. Our government has been picking winners and losers and chocking competition with over regulating small businesses. A lot of the very giants in American business could never have gotten started if they were subject to all the same laws and regulations that are in place today.

  • @7F0X7 You keep saying you're more educated than me, but then you turn around and say you can't have communism without democracy. You're contradicting yourself, bro. Pick one. Either you're educated, and you understand that communism is a economic system which can be democratic, or you're just an idiot. One or the other.

  • @AUOxan No, I don't "say" I'm more educated than you. I AM more educated than you. And I didn't say "you can't have communism without democracy". I said you can't have democracy IN communism. You don't even know why I'm saying. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. Communism is also a "social system" by definition so it is also political. Just because I have a different opinion than you does not make me "uneducated" and if you think it does, then you're beyond insane

  • @7F0X7 What is your proof that you can't have democracy in communism, exactly? The Soviet Union? China? North Korea? Well, if those are your case studies, then you're wrong. If I'm overlooking another communist country (that, you know, embraces TRUE communism, not some variant) you're welcome to enlighten me.

And when your opinion is WRONG (as in, false, or, not true) then it makes you uneducated, in comparison to the person who bases their opinion on fact (not capitalist propaganda).

  • @AUOxan I can go on and on forever one this and I'm not backing down. YOU are the one who is wrong and a total UNEDUCATED (DIDN'T EVEN GO TO COLLEGE) prick who buys the bullshit of liberal propaganda. Soviet Union, North Korea, AND China are all PERFECT examples of why you can't have democracy in communism. YOU'RE WRONG WRONG W-R-O-N-G.

  • @AUOxan I bet it hurts to know deep down inside that you're not only wrong, but a miserable coward who's too scared to embrace freedom and people being able to live their lives THE WAY THEY WANT TO LIVE THEM. YOU PROVE TO ME THAT COMMUNISM ALLOWS THIS U TWIT!

  • @7F0X7 First up: I don't support communism. So even if it was an authoritarian system, it wouldn't make me scared to embrace freedom. Secondly, because you CAN have a democratic communist rule, people are able to be free and live their lives.

I have a question for you: are you retarded?

  • @AUOxan OOHHHH Look who's back peddling now. No, you can't have democratic communism because if you wanted to grow your own food for your self and direct family, preserve that food, and keep in times of emergency for only your family and yourself, then you would be directly subverting the communist system. You would be producing and possessing your own private property. Now you explain to me how telling someone they CANNOT do that is democratic or free in any sense of the word?
