He was such a jerk to me during office hours. Prof Harvey is one of those people who acts all nice and pleasant in class, & then behaves like a sarcastic prick in private. I wasn't the only person who experienced this, so it wasn't unique to my interactions with him. What I used to use for this was closet asshole. Maybe he's changed, but I was never that impressed with him, or Clancy, another arrogant jerk.
That anecdote about the frat guys raping townies every 3-4 years just proves my point.
@Stentor7 He seems like a good guy.... As he said in the first lecture... He seems to be snippy with people that ask dumb/bad questions that don't understand what he is teaching. Like most university professors.
@Ninboyc He was my professor that year for that class. He's a jerk, so is Clancy. I've taken plenty of other professors at Berkeley who weren't huge assholes, even if they were brilliant. You can be smart, & still be a horrible teacher. Hilfinger was good, Fearing, Chang-Hasnain, Canny, Oldham, Jae-King, Spanos, all good professors. Unless you've had to deal with him, you don't know. BTW, No such thing as bad/dumb questions, if someone doesn't understand, then the teacher's not doing their job.
