@71shoelover I agree that is not a smart thing, but it's not funny at all, he was one of the most genius singer songwriters in the past 50 years. Everyone has an addiction of some sort, be it little or small, we're human, it's not funny. Albeit, you have one that your not willing to share here on youtube with us all, or you wouldn't be here laughing it up to begin with...
@71shoelover i think that your addiction is being an asshole death is not a funny thing no matter what the cause if you died from a shoe up your ass i bet it wouldnt be a laughing matter for your family but your probably one of those people that laughs at family members deaths as well so you r just a miserable asshole and comments like yours are just ignorant
I dont know much about Jerry Reed, but Smokey and The Bandit was my go to movie when i was a kid. When my mum wanted me to shut up and be quiet for a while she'd asked what movie i wanted to watch: "Smokey and The Bandit" i always replied without fail. God knows how a 5 year old comes across that movie, but im glad i did. Its still my favourite movie to this day and East Bound And Down never fails to cheer me up. So thanks for those Jerry. R.I.P.
Rest in peace Jerry Reed. Your gentle down to earth life has inspired many young people of the 70s to become truckers, your music will be legendary. You had true talent to not only got to be Snowman, but your song Eastbound and down will forever be my favorite song. Thank you for being a part of this life.

IT'S NOW THE LAKEWOOD AMPITHEATRE, LIVE & WELL. MY DADDDY WORKED IN THE GENERAL MOTORS AUTOMOBILE PLANT IN LAKEWOOD, GA. I WENT TO THE FILMING OF THE MOVIE AT LAKEWOOD.
Those fairgrounds are in ruins now. They were struggling to keep it open even as the filming was taking place and it shut down not too long after. The roller coaster seen in the background of some shots is gone as are most of the grandstands and concessions. I believe the large auction buildings are still standing, but in bad condition after many years of neglect. The whole area is fenced to keep people out.
Want to know a secret? The movie Smokey and the Bandit was not filmed in Texas or Mississippi. It was all filmed in Georgia. Yeah, they changed the signs, billboards, etc. Would you like to know another little secret also?!? The County Sheriff at the time of the filming of the movie woke up drunk in the middle of the night and thought that he was actually in Texas, poor guy did not know where he was or what to do and that was Sonny Shroyer ( Enos from the Dukes of Hazzard ) on the motorcycle.
quite possibly the best movie ever! LOL I was born in 77... grew up loving Bandit and Dukes... call me white trash I guess. My dog's name is Bandit! LOL
Always kind of sad that 'Junior' doesn't get his real name on the trailer credits, I mean they even have a spot for Fred up there but nothing for Junior? ;)
Yeah, exactly. Convoy is a better film, with better plot. But, I prefer so much Smokey And The Bandit 'cause its funny as hell. Plus, it has my favorite actor, Burt Reynolds, and my favorite singer, Jerry Reed. And I think that Sally Field was more cute than Ali McGraw.
Oh they dont..well tell ya what we're gonna do, ha ha ha ha ha.. we're just gonna introduce them to the boy... hold on to your ass fred... R.I.P Snowman
The fairgrounds where this was filmed where Big Enos and Little Enos get the bandit to do the beer run and where Jerry Reed comes crashing through at the end has been closed for a long time and is overgrown. Nearly everything you see in the background of the scenes filmed there is now gone or in disrepair.
That "Front burner and let it cook" line by Jerry Reed has been edited out of every version of this movie I have seen and unfortunately for my wasted youth of police chases just for fun in a Black 1981 Trans Am 305 4 speed, I can still recite every word of this movie.
@wappco Could U Help on the"Front burner & let it COOK" Explainition?-"Shay,shonny-could ya exsphlain that little better pleashe" ;-B) Old man with a lisp Accent... LoooL !! Rothf-LMFAO
jerry reed wrote and played on the very famous and hit song guitar man by elvis presley and many more of his hits. one of the greatest guitar players of this decade!he wrote guitar man...
Classic movie! Makes me miss my Frirebird, I still can't believe those asshats at GM decided to kill Pontiac off:(
I have a better idea, no more CEO's getting paid millions of dollars for doing nothing. How about putting the money into the companies for a change instead of wasting it on them?
Jonesboro Ga, my home town is where a lot of this was filmed. The bridge jump was across the Flint River at Flint River Road. Used to go fishing there lots.
@jamoneeaka Where they picked up the beer,Snowman's house were in Jonesboro.Flint River was on the Jonesboro/Riverdale line. The burnout at the redlight was at state rd 85 and 138 in Riverdale.
Kenworth/Peterbilt Are great trucks =D I've owened two. They have survived.Trans Am? that's another story.where they loaded up the beer was filmed in Jonesboro ,Ga -South of Atlanta-My stomping ground
I went to see this movie when it 1st came out and the next year I bought My 1st trans am.2 years later I got my truck licence.Jerry Reed will be missed by all his fans and Im proud to say Im 1 of them.
brenics77, looks like they may have sped up the video to make the truck look like it was going faster than it was. Look at the dust that is kicked up from the truck and the police cruiser that follows. In real life, plain ole dust doesn't move that fast.
good old film, i`m a truck driver but how the stunt driver took the corner at 2.10 and never jack-knifed i will never know! the kenworth is hopping it`s so fast. r.i.p. Jerry.
The song that starts off this video. The one where he's with Frog on the bridge. What is the name of that song? "They Call him The Bandit"? I've been looking for that song and can't find it anywhere.

How can you call those classic 1970s DETROIT IRON junk?-If U got in a wreck with those machines back then U was better protected-(BUILT LIKE A TANK>=)EXCEPT CORVETTE and MONZA's...)-But U R right about few places on those CLASSIC VEHICLES-After 20-30 years those STOCK GM CHEAP PISTONS ENGINES gets to smokin and QUADRA-JET CARBURATORS got reputation for QUADRA*JUNK*(Ah use EDELBROCK as replacements=) Honestly-Whats your reason for calling our heritage USA STEEL CLASSICS JUNK?Modify oringinals
Well let's see, the "metallic silver" dashboard was actually a (poorly) glued on piece that started to peel almost immediately. The T-tops leaked so badly they might as well not even been there. The doors were far too heavy for the hinges and before long sagged so badly you had to LIFT the door in order to get it to close properly. Basically, all the materials other than the powertrain, were extremely poor. Squeaks and rattles were the norm.
But hey, other than that, the cars were awesome...
@vincegrey19 That's interesting because my original Black & gold car has the original gold face plates that is just a little faded. The hurst T-tops did suck and that is the reasion i have a non-T-top T/A.As far as the sagging doors,a new set of bushing will do the trick.Let's see my 1977 T/A was $6,600 new and now is worth in the low to mid $20,not a bad investment.People must love those sagging doors,LOL.
@OLDSCHOOLHHSEX You know nothing about carbs,if set up right a quadrajet is a great carb. The ones on the 1977 T.A 6.6 are 800 cfm are considered one of the best. The car manufactures were out to make a buck,so they couldn't put Ross or Wiseco pistons and good steel rods in every motor.
@MidnightinSavannah I wouldnt say that-I knew enough about those 472 BB V8 cadillac 4 Brrl to dump gas into carburburator to force it to work and got that tired old 1970 DEVILLE 4 DOOR to pull itself out of that damn fields big hole where I'd bought it from! >=) I will always choose Carburator over any EFI than mess around with EFI STAR TREK Teck Wrecks any day-I wont touch anything that has Fuel Injection on it!-Ship these FWD POS go-carts back to Japan
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
When Bandit asked Frog and Snowman why Burfford was chaseing them.. niether one of them knew the reason. Even Frog said she didn't know...well her hair is not blond but yet she is dumb..lol how can she not know Bufford T Justice she was going to marry his son.. lol She should have known the reason why he was chasing them to get HER.
I saw this movie in the theatre in 1977. Jerry Reed said, "In the morning, I got to go to Conyers, and pick up a load of manure," and Burt Reynolds says, "Shitty job." The audience fucking ROARED like it was the funniest goddamned thing they'd ever heard. And you know what? It was. Believe it or not, there was a time when movies were fun. That was before Sean Penn and Ang Lee started shoving all their mournful shit at us. This movie deserved an Academy Award a hell of a lot more than "Milk."
It bummed me out when I recieved word that he had died. Anyway, Jerry was a brilliant singer, actor, and guitarist. In the words of Forrest Gump, "If there's anything you need, I won't be far away."
RIP Snowman. U were awesome!

The doors were far too heavy for the hinges and before long sagged so badly you had to LIFT the door in order to get it to close properly. Basically, all the materials other than the powertrain, were extremely poor. Squeaks and rattles were the norm.
But hey, other than that, the cars were awesome...
vincegrey19 2 years ago
