First I saw this movie in early 1990s - on VHS. Fantastic. I think this is the best film by Luc Bessoc. This movie fulfill by spirit of 80s! Magnific visual and music scene, Adjani, Lambert, Reno - great movie for all times!

Luc Besson wrote the part of "Fred" for Sting - luckily, Sting was unavailable at the time due to other commitments, and Christophe Lambert took the role instead. What an amazing turn of fate - it's impossible to consider anyone else but Lambert as "Fred" and probably the reason why the film became such a cult classic.....

It's true, the French have a great movie tradition. Not what i would call European in the way of the Italians or Swedes. Something like a cross between Europe and Hollywood. They can mix great stories, great characters, and great photography.

Christopher Lambert looks so much like a young Marlon Brando! I wish he became more prevalent in films though, to the likes of Brad Pitt and others who bank on their good looks. THey can act, for sure, but Lambert's got a look entirely apart.

I was 18 when this movie was released in France and it was A PHENOMENON. A cult for my generation. I and my girlfriends were in love with Christophe Lambert! I must have missed a dozen classes in college to spend the afternoon at the movie theater watching this over and over again. The dialog, music, we loved it! Hard to believe this was almost 25 years ago. I just turned 40: thanks for bringing me back to this wonderful time of my life!
