  • Beef teriyei

  • WAR PIGS

  • thanks for the perpetual stream of demos, love it, very helpful

  • 4:57 Tush! :D

  • I used to own one when I was 12, but then I got an arrow to the knee

  • can anyone tell me if billy corgan used the big muff in mellon collie and the infinite sadness and if he used it in which songs. Thank you

  • @rodrigoNIN90 Well, he used the Big Muff for most of his career on just about everything, but if I recall on Mellon Collie he mostly used his rack setup.

If he did use the Big Muff on Mellon Collie, Jellybelly, Where Boys Fear to Tread, XYU, those sound like they could have been a muff. Siamese is certainly the album with the most recognizable muff sound.

  • @rodrigoNIN90 The main MCIS rhythm tone was a Marshall JMP-1 preamp into a Mesa/Boogie Strategy 500 power amp.

  • SABBATH. \M/

  • best fuzz?

  • the best muff i've ever seen

  • Which Muff is best for palm muting? My USA Muff doesn't do this that well

  • @sabbathmc97 What you need is use the Big Muff and add the mxr micro amp!

  • @sabbathmc97 no muff is good with palm muting

  • The Best BiG MuFF ever!

  • hey, silversun pickups

  • i want to see what his fingers are doing

  • Trading boss FZ-5 for big muff. Wise decision?

  • @SUPERRMAN61 Yes. Duh.

  • all i can think of when i look at this is mudhoney..haha anyone else??

  • look up the zvex fuzz factory for some REAL FUZZ

  • doesn't sound "fuzzy", try solidgoldFX Formula '69, great handwired fuzz pedal

  • tomorrows dream!

  • @Doolittlekid i've had more musical stool

  • This sounds like poop. Fuzz Face or GTFO!

  • @DoolittleKid I'll GTFO

  • cant you put this on a board set to how you like it, then next to it have the swollen pickle set dif and use as you please

  • Superfuzz Bigmuff!

  • MUSE

  • BLACK SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tomorrow's Dream! sabbath rules

  • What a crappy sound. Dont like it at all..

  • My girl friend got a big ass that sounds like this bad sound pedal!

  • andy, teach me your ways... what kinda music do yout think i should play with one of these? any particular bands?

  • @JerrysDerby Bands using this tone: Fu Manchu, Nebula, Boris, etc. This is mainly for stoner rock.

  • not real impressed with this. It cant do much other than full on mud

  • @genericgeorge Yeah that's exactly what I thought. I don't understand the massive appeal for it ... am I missing something or what?

  • Nice to see soem Sabbath riffs thrown in there :)

  • at 5.15 it has the best sound

  • thumbs up for les paul!!!

  • this big muff haven't nothing in common with the ram's head version, triangle version or civil war... this a diffirent pedal (and sucks)

  • should i plug it into clean or driven amp?

  • @Twizzelification either..

  • @TheArabmobile1 thanks man , you are saving my life

  • play some warrant or damn yankees or mr. big...

  • I really think this pedal is cold and lacking in tone compared to the Russian version

  • @mugwye1 for sure. those russian things are so fuckin rare tho. i just bought one after years of lookin

  • mmm 3.14159265 never sounded so good!

  • Is it true bypass?

  • I used to own one when I was 12, but I sold it for weed :( I am going to buy a new one soon.

  • @ProgHead93 weed's for pussies. if you want a real drug, try cocaine and meth

  • @kisay69 Yeah it's for pussies. It's nothing to do with the fact that he was 12 or that they give a completely different effect, but because he's a pussy. Has anyone called you a dick before?

  • @ProgHead93 Turned your Big Muff into a Big Puff? Haha.

  • @ProgHead93

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @ProgHead93 You think that makes you cool?

  • @orfmor i sold 3 guitars, a line 6 75 watt amp, dimebag whammy pedal, tascam 4 track recorder, exc... all for heroin. do i think that makes me cool? no.. do i feel like people could learn from my stupid mistakes? deffinatly

  • @orfmor You think calling him out like a dick - on a Youtube video - makes YOU cool? If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone use that phrase, I'd be a very rich guy.

  • sounds like arse till about 740 still not a lead pedal

  • smashing pumpkins!!!

  • riff around 3:50?

  • @moobesornahtan "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath

  • YOUR FACE! GODDAMMIT!

  • what's the riff at 7:30?

  • @Smilyspossom i hate silversun pickups but i know the song i think its lazy eye i seriously dont like them

  • @FooFightersNirvana1 yeah, it's kind of a modified lazy eye riff

  • What rig are U bussing that muff through man, pretty killer tone, sounds similar to my MXR Full Bore Metal, when I crank that sucker up on my HRDx it is sweeter than the lemon meringue pie I just ate and I topped it up with sweet cream. Do U think the HRDx has just a good a sound quality than a deluxe reverb, please answer asap, as I have had no reply yet

  • @UKToneKing I have a HRDx too, but it is different a than deluxe reverb. You can get HRDxs extremely clean, so imagine it would sound pretty good.

  • I want to hear him do Melvins "Zodiac" on this.

  • what's the riff on 04:33?

  • 3:20 one of the Pistachio riffs from The Smashing Pumpkins!

  • @PennyRoyal369 That's actually from War Pigs by Black Sabbath, but they were a huge influence for a lot of Billy Corgan's playing :)

  • @PennyRoyal369 It's Sabbath, but it does sounds a lot like Song for Johnny

  • do some white stripes

  • @jumpinhowlin your lucky, mine is pretty tame. i have to crank everything nearly all the way for mine to feedback. also takes a few seconds to kick in.

  • A Classic!

  • Silversun Pickups. Nice.

  • i'm still confused, which knob controls the gain?

  • @SethYoda71 the sustain knob

  • @SethYoda71 It's a combination of the sustain and the volume. But you'll find that even with the sustain down to nothing, it's still a bit fuzzy. But by the time the sustain knob is at about ten O'clock, you're already way past any other fuzzbox, and it's just a fuddled mess unless the tonelab is at at least two O'clock. A very volatile pedal, but fuckin' awesome, and one of the best fuzzboxes there is.

  • For a Cliff Burton´s bass sound, Electro Harmonix Big Muff or the Metal Muff Ehx?? please! tell me, which one is the best for a Burton effect?

  • @Joker5844 Big muff.

  • @itsmarshmallowz

    no accounting for taste!

  • Pedal used on Siamese Dream....nuff said!

  • @MrStephenk88 indeed - great album

  • @MrStephenk88 I just recorded with it and I couldn't stop interrupting with licks from "Mayonaise," "Hummer," and everything else....

  • @MrStephenk88 Pedal used on everything with Cliff Burton. Nuff said!

  • @MrStephenk88 You mean MUFF said... terrible joke i know...

  • jack White has the big muff on all his pedalb

  • Like the Silversun Pickups lick! A little Lazy Eye.

  • sounds very jack white

  • best to get for indie/arctic monkeys style stuff?

  • @Samwise7heBrave Jamie Cook uses a big muff but i don't think it's made for indie

  • @tippeltje118 they've got a QotSA vibe now though s'all good nigga

  • I already own this pedal, but I watched this video anyway just to hear Andy play some fuzzy Big Muff goodness.

  • Love the zep riff at the end! Cool as ever andy!

  • what is the song in the intro? i hear it a million times but i can never remember the name.

  • @notmyname6 It's Tomorrow's Dream by Black Sabbath.

  • @itsmarshmallowz I dont like this at all either haha. A great pedal is the Butler tube driver i think its called. rather expensive pedal though =/

  • want the mudhoney tone? buy this pedal and max out all the nobs. it kicks ass...

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

  • What Fuzz Pedal Should I use to play classic James Gang, preferably one that I can get from Guitar Center. In the James gang Live in Concert album he used a Sola Sound Tone Bender.

  • @CacheSeaker For James Gang, I'd just use the OD on my amp. Walsh didn't have a really high gain tone, so a fuzz probably isn't necessary.

  • Hey! I just wanted to thank Andy and the PGS crew for the great work that you guys do! Really makes things a hella lot easier for us. And Andy you have a fan in India! :D

    Cheers!

P.S: That sounded like a speech. Where's my award? :P

  • i just pooped meself

  • Long live the Big Muff for all the riffermania it inspires!

  • 5:09 Tush

  • RIP cliff burton

  • the most overated pedal out there

  • @MrCrapheadist Billy Corgan begs to differ.

  • Silversun Pickups!!! \m/ (O.o) \m/ !!!!!

  • dude thanks to this video, i bought my Big MUFF

  • Can anyone tell me what pedal was used for Siamese Dream album by smashing pumpkins?

  • @BnHwrd It was an original Big Muff Pi, fed into the low gain input a 100watt Marshall JCM800 which had been rebiased to use KT88 valves. You can get a close approximation using a Marshall JMP-1 preamp's clean channels + the big muff PI via the effects loop..

  • @BnHwrd ive seen big muffs and fender blenders on corgans board but his big muff is an earlier model however most of the siamese dream tone came from the mutiple layering of guitar tracks done in the studio. So no theres not really a single pedal unfortunately, i wish as well.

  • @TheEchomaker tone doesn't come from layering tracks, the tone came from a big muff and cranked marshall

  • @BnHwrd they used a ton of pedals...but this pedal the Big Muff Pi was their main effect pedal

  • can this pedal do dead meadow tones??

  • I had one of these when they came out in the 1970's. I'd have to say they do get kind of boring awful quickly.

  • this thing is great has a great tone but mine always cuts the sound when I engage it and when I turn up the volume knob past 12 it starts to feedback like a motherfucker, anybody else have that experience? anything I can do about it?

  • @RegsterGuitar That's the beauty of this pedal.

  • Это гениально!!!!!!Эта одна из самых гениальных гитарных педалей.Наравне с Fuzz Face.Отец Хендрикс был прав))))

  • dude, this pedal sounds so heavy that it can even scare me lulz to fuzzy and its tone hasn't get me, still preffer bad monkey

  • my girl friends got a big muff!!!

  • @hatekillripstab671 you dont really have a girlfriend. you like boys x

  • @hatekillripstab671 as she should as God intended it 2 b.... :)

  • Thanks to this review, I own one.

    Awesome pedal.

  • its this one better than the Tone wicker? i Really want a Big Muff, but a friend told me that i should go for the tone wicker, cus, finally its the same, just Tone and wicker settings makes the difference. its that true?

  • SABBATH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Theshamham Well thats similar to comparing different shades of blue. Either pedal isn't better, they're just different. I actually prefer the Big Muff over the fuzz face, but thats my preference. You need to play on both through your amp to decide which one suites your sonic tastes and playing style.

  • Jack White uses a modified Big Muff right?

  • @GuitarIsLife94 i read that it was only modified in the color of the pedal, i mean, its red, but you can see that in It Might get Loud he is using a normal one

  • @GuitarIsLife94 He has his mids set flat on his Muff, I don't know how they modify pedals but I can get the same tone with an EQ pedal that I use.

  • is this better then the dunlop fuzzfaces?

  • @Theshamham is diferent , this have´s more fuzz-dist, i like it more!! ejj

  • @Theshamham depends

  • Silversun Pickups at 7:30!

  • When he plays the strat it reminds me of Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dreams

  • whats name of the 1st sabbath song?

  • @bebenavole Tomorrow's dream :D

  • @bebenavole supernaut

  • what about Mudhoney? They named their debut album after this pedal!!

  • @heavyjavadrinker

They didn't use it, though. They liked it, but they used the Ibanez FZ-5, I think. It's an Ibanez Fuzz, anyway.

  • @heavyjavadrinker Touch me I'm sick..... better than nirvana man....

  • @heavyjavadrinker I thought it was named after one of their groupies! lol

  • @blueleadguitar yeah man 'superfuzz bigmuff', they had 2 groupies, twins i hear haha

  • @uoza92 lol

  • @heavyjavadrinker well spotted and mentioned

  • @heavyjavadrinker Mudhoney is awesome! Had to throw that out there!

  • love the sound of the pedal, just one question, i play down, c.o.c, led zepplin, deep purple, blues that type of music, currently i have an ltd viper ow with seymour ducncans pick ups, think it would do a great job, what you guys think should i invest in one ? cheers

  • Ok. So I have a big muff. And i love it.

Problem... I don't kno what one of the little import thingys do.

Like there's two jacks(?) to plug in an amp and a guitar. There's a smaller one in-between them. It looks like it can fit a pair of headphones.

Can someone tell me what that does? I don't wanna mess with it. Because I'll be sad if something breaks... =P

  • @lanci122 I think its for the power supply.

  • @lanci122 its the power lol

  • @lanci122 Its for a power supply, i know, its fucked up.. :/

  • @DaveRingle what adapter do u need for it? might u know

  • @lanci122

Thats the 9V jack. Have fun with it!

  • @lanci122 Did anybody answer this?

  • Yeah, this sounds good for stuff like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Montrose, ZZ Top, and some Hendrix. More of those late 60s/early-mid 70s tones.

  • @jakemk21 yeah but since the versions of the 60's and 70's it has lost some of that great fuzz tone... now it looks more like a heavy distortion with a lot of sustain, but still with a little "fuzzy" tone

  • @jakemk21 Don't forget late 70s Pink Floyd!

  • The beggining of the video sounded like one "shutdown" NY music !

  • I need one of these, I bet it would have a great "iron man" sound

  • 2:05 what song

  • sounds really cool with the tone all the way up

  • Which is better, this or the double muff?????

  • @URBELOWMENOWBLOWME this one.. i have the double muff. if you want to hear a good demo of the sound of the big muff than surch for sungrazer- if

    they use it too.

  • @URBELOWMENOWBLOWME this. double muff sucks

  • Thanks, Andy. As always, a great demo.

Went and bought one after watching this.

  • this sound is so vintage, reminds me of king crimson's "21th century schizoid man"

  • is this what jack white uses?

  • @reecman319 He's using a big muff that was fitted into a little big muff case.

  • @reecman319 Yes,

  • I love how he plays Sabbath riffs :)

  • wow that was sabbath all day long ...........exact tone for that song!

  • 2:24 MUDHONEY SOUND!!

  • IMO sounds great for single coil horrible for humbuckers

  • @qwerpoij Agreed. The Big Muff sounds better for single coils.

  • @qwerpoij What's wrong when using it with humbuckers?

  • Classic Jack White stuff ♥

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im sorry if this sounds stupid but im new to guitar and pedals and stuff but is this big muff a fuzz pedal

  • @hoooot4 Yes it is a fuzz pedal.
