Actually, I think that Dade's Mom was not at all fake. She was forced by her husband to move to the city and changed accordingly. His mother seemed--to me, anyway-- to be one of the most grounded and dynamic characters of the bunch. I really enjoyed your review, though :)

THis book was great, the ending was sad. I wish though there could be a version from Pablo Soto's point of view because that guy had a lot to tell and deep in side he i think he really did love Dade and towards the end i think he wished he could of changed how he treated him.

Love the book! But can anybody explain what the missing girl symbolizes in the book? I reread it a couple of timeds and the role the girl she plays is still vague to me...
