I am 3 quarters of Japanese and i totally believe that whaling is wrong.

Strangely enough - the Japanese Government is the only government in the the world that has the ability to end whaling everywhere in the world at once.

If they converted their fleet to sea petrol vessels and started protecting the oceans - we would give them money and they would not loose their jobs

Now that would boost Japanese imports by billions of yen

A far better plan for the Japanese Government economically

I am Japanese and I am a proud supporter of Sea Shepherd and Captain Watson. For those who are against the senseless slaughter of whales it may comfort you to know that their are silent but active anti-whaling groups in Japan that are also trying to do the same. You don't hear about them because the government tries to silence them. But they are there. And Sea Shepherd has Japanese crew as well. Take heart friends of the ocean...whaling WILL END!!!!!

Thank you for your comment. It just proves the theory of the corruption in some departments of the Japanese Government. I have relatives that are Japanese too and they had no idea whaling was still going on until they read it in the paper over here in Australia. The whalers claim its Japanese tradition, how can it possibility be called that if the majority of Japanese people don't even know whats happening.

Thank you for the offer but I am only one man. But I am pleased to say that the latest news shows that the JICR is in the red and nearly bankrupt right now. Not only because of efforts of Sea Shepherd, but also because of the international outcry that has been generated buy the Whale Wars TV series AND discussions online between the average persons like us. The more we talk, the more people know. And THAT is what counts. Whale WILL end and very soon I feel.

Fred, this isn't the 1800's - the time of Moby Dick - when Americans used whale oil in lanterns. Electricity works wonders. Whaling and use of whale products in the US is illegal, am I right? So what exactly do the Japanese do with whale products? They appear to have discovered electricity as well. Let's hope the Star Trek movie about the extinct whales never happens, or we're in trouble. Ishmael's last words in Moby Dick: "I alone survived to tell thee."

Yea, funny that such an advanced nation like japan has the same animal right treatment as a thrid world country.

Last years whale catch is still in the freezers and the season before that (2005/06) was placed in a school program "lets eat whale" and the rest of the catch was dumped into the cat/dog food company.

Yet they insist they need a few thousand! even this year they complaining they only got 500 whales so they sent out boats on Monday to the North Pacific to catch some more Minke!

Their North Pacific hunt has said to effect Hawaii's whale migration and will be carried through to the end of May.

I am hoping the American government will tell them to piss off again... the same thing happened when Clinton was in government and he proposed a ban on all exports and imports if japan didn't remove themselves.
