Stellar recording! Stellar performance. Like Tom Waits, and a very select few, Elvis is too good for pop and way too interesting to be a museum piece. He's a treasure.
yes, he is amazing... with a case of ooofongoo he still managed to belt it out; a consumate showman at all times. I'd help him find Bruce but couples make me squiemish.
WOW! That's a 180 from most of the shows I've seen. (About 12 in the US & UK.) Having said that, I've had some tremendous personal interactions with him, from stage to seat. As you know, he's big with interacting with fans, particularly within the first 10 rows or so. I usually get tickets within the first 5 and usually 1st or 2nd. (I know people.) And he's got such humor and wit in his performances.
If anyone reading this HASN'T seen him, he's probably one of the best shows you'll ever see.
The sound on this is surprisingly good. And I'm amazed — no, AMAZED — that Elvis didn't get pissed at you. I've seen him go off on photographers. Saw him open with "What's So Funny 'Bout..." and in between all of these warm notions, he's stepping away from the microphone yelling "FUCK OFF!" at the guy.
He even gave me kind of a look when i took a picture with my crappy camera phone.
So, man! Congratulations and THANKS for putting this up!
thts crazy, i went to a show at the mann center in philly, and they were checking people for cameras as you walked thru the door, still, someone got a vid of him there...
I feel bad for missing this tour. I had the luck of meeting Mr. MacManus back in 1994, right after the Spike Tour in Santa Barbara. But, now that he's opening for The Police reunion tour and tickets are $400 and gas is creeping towards $5 a gallon. I doubt that I'll be able to see him ever again.
"So in this almost empty gin palace, through a two-way looking glass you see your Alice." Even a boring cliche' monger like Billy Joel was wise enough to declare Elvis Costello one of the greatest lyricists of our time.
And so quickly after filming it too. I was wondering what he was up to. Aint he such a words man!
this is one of my faves of his, (not that the opinion of an old sado who doesn`t get out much matters.)
But I think you have to go a long way to beat "Pump it up" At full volume! as I think it sounds a bit odd played quietly and without the aid of air guitar, so it has to be LOUD!

my favorite elvis costello song ever...
eleanorruby 3 years ago 3
My hands were clammy and cunning
She's been suitably stunning
But I know there's not a hope in Hades
All the laddies cat call and wolf whistle
So-called gentlemen and ladies
Dog fight like rose and thistle
I've got a feeling
I'm going to get a lot of grief
Once this seemed so appealing
Now I am beyond belief
